1พระดำรัสของพระยาห์เวห์มาถึงข้าพเจ้าว่า
1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
2“มนุษย์เอ๋ย จงพูดกับชนชาติเดียวกับเจ้าว่า ‘เมื่อเรานำดาบมาเหนือแผ่นดินหนึ่ง แล้วประชาชนในแผ่นดินเลือกชายคนหนึ่งจากพวกตนให้เป็นยามเฝ้า
2'Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them: When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man from among them, and set him for their watchman;
3ถ้าเขาเห็นดาบกำลังมาเหนือแผ่นดิน แล้วเป่าแตรเตือนประชาชน
3if, when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the horn, and warn the people;
4คนใดได้ยินเสียงแตรแต่ไม่รับฟังคำเตือน เมื่อดาบมาเอาชีวิตเขา เลือดของเขาจะตกบนศีรษะของเขาเอง
4then whosoever heareth the sound of the horn, and taketh not warning, if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head;
5เขาได้ยินเสียงแตรแต่ไม่รับคำเตือน เลือดจึงตกบนตัวเขาเอง แต่ถ้าเขารับคำเตือน เขาย่อมรักษาชีวิตของตนไว้ได้
5he heard the sound of the horn, and took not warning, his blood shall be upon him; whereas if he had taken warning, he would have delivered his soul.
6แต่ถ้ายามเห็นดาบมาแล้วไม่เป่าแตร ประชาชนจึงไม่ได้รับคำเตือน และดาบมาฆ่าคนใดในหมู่พวกเขา คนนั้นถูกฆ่าเพราะความผิดของตน แต่เราจะถือว่ายามต้องรับผิดชอบต่อเลือดของเขา’
6But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the horn, and the people be not warned, and the sword do come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
7“ส่วนเจ้า มนุษย์เอ๋ย เราแต่งตั้งเจ้าเป็นยามเฝ้าชนอิสราเอล เพราะฉะนั้นเมื่อเจ้าได้ยินถ้อยคำจากปากเรา จงเตือนพวกเขาแทนเรา
7So thou, son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore, when thou shalt hear the word at My mouth, warn them from Me.
8เมื่อเราบอกคนชั่วว่า ‘คนชั่วเอ๋ย เจ้าจะต้องตายแน่’ แต่เจ้าไม่พูดเตือนให้เขาหันจากทางของตน คนชั่วนั้นจะตายเพราะความผิดของตน แต่เราจะถือว่าเจ้าต้องรับผิดชอบต่อเลือดของเขา
8When I say unto the wicked: O wicked man, thou shalt surely die, and thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way; that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at thy hand.
9แต่ถ้าเจ้าเตือนคนชั่วให้หันจากทางของตน แล้วเขาไม่ยอมหัน เขาจะตายเพราะความผิดของตน ส่วนเจ้าได้ช่วยชีวิตของตนไว้แล้ว
9Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he turn not from his way; he shall die in his iniquity, but thou hast delivered thy soul.
10“มนุษย์เอ๋ย จงบอกชนอิสราเอลว่า ‘พวกเจ้าพูดว่า “การล่วงละเมิดและบาปของเราหนักอยู่บนตัวเรา เรากำลังซูบโทรมเพราะมัน แล้วเราจะมีชีวิตอยู่ได้อย่างไร?”’
10Therefore, O thou son of man, say unto the house of Israel: Thus ye speak, saying: Our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we pine away in them; how then can we live?
11จงบอกพวกเขาว่า ‘พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า “เรามีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด เราไม่พอใจในการตายของคนชั่ว แต่พอใจให้คนชั่วหันจากทางของตนแล้วมีชีวิต จงหันกลับ! จงหันจากทางชั่วของพวกเจ้า! ชนอิสราเอลเอ๋ย ทำไมพวกเจ้าจึงจะตาย?”’
11Say unto them: As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
12“มนุษย์เอ๋ย จงบอกชนชาติเดียวกับเจ้าว่า ‘ความชอบธรรมของคนชอบธรรมจะช่วยเขาไม่ได้ในวันที่เขาไม่เชื่อฟัง ส่วนความชั่วของคนชั่วจะไม่ทำให้เขาล้มในวันที่เขาหันจากความชั่ว และคนชอบธรรมก็ไม่อาจอาศัยความชอบธรรมเดิมมีชีวิตอยู่ได้ในวันที่เขาทำบาป
12And thou, son of man, say unto the children of thy people: The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression; and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not stumble thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall he that is righteous be able to live thereby in the day that he sinneth.
13เมื่อเราบอกคนชอบธรรมว่าเขาจะมีชีวิตอยู่แน่ แต่เขาวางใจในความชอบธรรมของตนแล้วทำความผิด ความชอบธรรมทั้งหมดที่เคยทำจะไม่ถูกจดจำ เขาจะตายเพราะความผิดที่ทำ
13When I say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his righteousness, and commit iniquity, none of his righteous deeds shall be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, for it shall he die.
14อีกด้านหนึ่ง เมื่อเราบอกคนชั่วว่า “เจ้าจะต้องตายแน่” แต่เขาหันจากบาปและทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องและยุติธรรม
14Again, when I say unto the wicked: Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;
15ถ้าคนชั่วคืนของประกัน คืนของที่ปล้นมา ดำเนินตามข้อกำหนดที่นำไปสู่ชีวิต และไม่ทำความผิด เขาจะมีชีวิตอยู่แน่ เขาจะไม่ตาย
15if the wicked restore the pledge, give back that which he had taken by robbery, walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.
16บาปที่เขาเคยทำจะไม่ถูกนำมาจดจำเอาโทษ เขาทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องและยุติธรรม เขาจะมีชีวิตอยู่แน่
16None of his sins that he hath committed shall be remembered against him; he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
17“‘แต่ชนชาติเดียวกับเจ้ากลับพูดว่า “ทางของพระผู้เป็นเจ้าไม่ยุติธรรม” ทั้งที่ทางของพวกเขาเองต่างหากไม่ยุติธรรม
17Yet the children of thy people say: The way of the Lord is not equal; but as for them, their way is not equal.
18เมื่อคนชอบธรรมหันจากความชอบธรรมไปทำความผิด เขาจะตายเพราะความผิดนั้น
18When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.
19เมื่อคนชั่วหันจากความชั่วไปทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องและยุติธรรม เขาจะมีชีวิตอยู่เพราะสิ่งนั้น
19And when the wicked turneth from his wickedness, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.
20แต่พวกเจ้ายังพูดว่า “ทางของพระผู้เป็นเจ้าไม่ยุติธรรม” ชนอิสราเอลเอ๋ย เราจะพิพากษาพวกเจ้าแต่ละคนตามทางของตน’”
20Yet ye say: The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.'
21ในปีที่สิบสองแห่งการเป็นเชลยของเรา เดือนที่สิบ วันที่ห้าของเดือน คนหนึ่งที่หนีรอดจากเยรูซาเล็มมาหาข้าพเจ้าและบอกว่า “เมืองแตกแล้ว!”
21And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying: 'The city is smitten.'
22เย็นก่อนที่ผู้หลบหนีจะมาถึง พระหัตถ์ของพระยาห์เวห์อยู่เหนือข้าพเจ้า และพระองค์ทรงเปิดปากข้าพเจ้าก่อนที่ชายคนนั้นจะมาถึงในตอนเช้า ปากของข้าพเจ้าจึงเปิด และข้าพเจ้าไม่เป็นใบ้อีก
22Now the hand of the LORD had been upon me in the evening, before he that was escaped came; and He had opened my mouth against his coming to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.
23พระดำรัสของพระยาห์เวห์มาถึงข้าพเจ้าว่า
23Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
24“มนุษย์เอ๋ย คนที่อาศัยอยู่ตามซากเมืองในแผ่นดินอิสราเอลพูดว่า ‘อับราฮัมมีเพียงคนเดียว ยังได้รับแผ่นดินเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ แต่พวกเรามีตั้งมาก แผ่นดินนี้ย่อมถูกมอบให้เราเป็นมรดก’
24'Son of man, they that inhabit those waste places in the land of Israel speak, saying: Abraham was one, and he inherited the land; but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.
25เพราะฉะนั้นจงบอกพวกเขาว่า ‘พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสดังนี้ พวกเจ้ากินเนื้อพร้อมเลือด เงยหน้าหวังพึ่งรูปเคารพ และหลั่งเลือด แล้วยังควรได้ครอบครองแผ่นดินหรือ?
25Wherefore say unto them: Thus saith the Lord GOD. Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes unto your idols, and shed blood; and shall ye possess the land?
26พวกเจ้าพึ่งดาบ ทำสิ่งน่ารังเกียจ และแต่ละคนทำให้ภรรยาของเพื่อนบ้านเป็นมลทิน แล้วยังควรได้ครอบครองแผ่นดินหรือ?’
26Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife; and shall ye possess the land?
27“จงบอกพวกเขาว่า ‘พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสดังนี้ เรามีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด คนที่อยู่ตามซากเมืองจะล้มด้วยดาบ คนที่อยู่กลางทุ่งเราจะมอบให้สัตว์กิน และคนที่อยู่ในที่มั่นกับถ้ำจะตายด้วยโรคระบาด
27Thus shalt thou say unto them: Thus saith the Lord GOD: As I live, surely they that are in the waste places shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that are in the strongholds and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.
28เราจะทำให้แผ่นดินร้างเปล่าและน่าสะพรึง ความหยิ่งในกำลังของนางจะสิ้นสุด ภูเขาแห่งอิสราเอลจะร้างจนไม่มีใครผ่าน
28And I will make the land most desolate, and the pride of her power shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, so that none shall pass through.
29แล้วพวกเขาจะรู้ว่าเราคือพระยาห์เวห์ เมื่อเราทำให้แผ่นดินร้างเปล่าและน่าสะพรึง เพราะสิ่งน่ารังเกียจทั้งหมดที่พวกเขาทำ’
29Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have made the land most desolate, because of all their abominations which they have committed.
30“ส่วนเจ้า มนุษย์เอ๋ย ชนชาติเดียวกับเจ้าพูดถึงเจ้าตามกำแพงและตามประตูบ้าน ต่างคนต่างบอกพี่น้องว่า ‘มาเถอะ ไปฟังกันว่าพระดำรัสอะไรออกมาจากพระยาห์เวห์’
30And as for thee, son of man, the children of thy people that talk of thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying: Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD;
31พวกเขามาหาเจ้าเหมือนประชาชนทั่วไป มานั่งตรงหน้าเจ้าเหมือนเป็นประชาชนของเรา ฟังถ้อยคำของเจ้าแต่ไม่ทำตาม ปากแสดงความรักมากมาย แต่ใจไล่ตามผลประโยชน์
31and come unto thee as the people cometh, and sit before thee as My people, and hear thy words, but do them not — for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness;
32สำหรับพวกเขา เจ้าเหมือนเพลงไพเราะจับใจของคนเสียงดีและเล่นดนตรีเก่ง พวกเขาฟังถ้อยคำของเจ้า แต่ไม่ทำตาม
32and, lo, thou art unto them as a love song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; so they hear thy words, but they do them not —
33“เมื่อสิ่งนี้เกิดขึ้น ซึ่งกำลังจะเกิดอยู่แล้ว พวกเขาจะรู้ว่าเคยมีผู้พยากรณ์อยู่ท่ามกลางพวกเขา”
33when this cometh to pass — behold, it cometh — then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.'
