1After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.
1หลังจากเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้และความซื่อสัตย์ของเฮเซคียาห์ เซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์อัสซีเรียยกทัพเข้ายูดาห์ ตั้งค่ายล้อมเมืองป้อมปราการและตั้งใจยึดไว้
2And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
2เฮเซคียาห์เห็นว่าเซนนาเคอริบมุ่งจะโจมตีเยรูซาเล็ม
3He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.
3จึงปรึกษาผู้นำกับนักรบกล้าหาญว่าจะปิดตาน้ำพุนอกเมือง พวกเขาร่วมมือกัน
4So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?
4ผู้คนจำนวนมากมาช่วยปิดตาน้ำพุทุกแห่งและลำธารที่ไหลผ่านกลางแผ่นดิน โดยกล่าวว่า “จะปล่อยให้กษัตริย์อัสซีเรียมาถึงแล้วพบน้ำมากมายทำไม”
5Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.
5เฮเซคียาห์รวบรวมกำลังใจ ซ่อมกำแพงส่วนที่พัง เพิ่มความสูงถึงหอคอย สร้างกำแพงอีกชั้นด้านนอก เสริมป้อมมิลโลในนครดาวิด และทำอาวุธกับโล่จำนวนมาก
6And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,
6เขาตั้งผู้บังคับบัญชาทหารดูแลประชาชน เรียกทุกคนมารวมกันที่ลานกว้างข้างประตูเมือง แล้วพูดให้กำลังใจว่า
7Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
7“จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญ อย่ากลัวหรือท้อใจเพราะกษัตริย์อัสซีเรียกับกองทัพมากมายของเขา ฝ่ายเรามีผู้ยิ่งใหญ่กว่าฝ่ายเขา
8With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
8เขามีเพียงกำลังมนุษย์ แต่เรามีพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเราทรงช่วยและทรงรบให้” ประชาชนจึงเชื่อมั่นในคำของกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์
9¶ After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,
9ต่อมาเซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์อัสซีเรียซึ่งกำลังโจมตีลาคีชพร้อมกองทัพทั้งหมด ส่งคนไปเยรูซาเล็มพร้อมสารถึงเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์ยูดาห์และชาวยูดาห์ในเมืองว่า
10Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?
10“เซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์อัสซีเรียกล่าวว่า ‘พวกเจ้าพึ่งใคร จึงยังทนถูกล้อมอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็ม
11Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
11เฮเซคียาห์กำลังหลอกให้พวกเจ้าตายเพราะอดอาหารและขาดน้ำมิใช่หรือ เขาบอกว่า “พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเราจะช่วยให้พ้นมือกษัตริย์อัสซีเรีย”
12Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
12เฮเซคียาห์คนนี้เองมิใช่หรือที่รื้อสถานบูชาบนที่สูงและแท่นบูชาของพระองค์ แล้วสั่งชาวยูดาห์กับเยรูซาเล็มว่า “จงนมัสการที่แท่นบูชาเดียว และเผาเครื่องหอมบนแท่นนั้น”
13Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
13พวกเจ้าไม่รู้หรือว่าข้ากับบรรพบุรุษทำอะไรกับชนชาติในแผ่นดินต่าง ๆ พระของชนชาติเหล่านั้นเคยช่วยแผ่นดินให้พ้นมือข้าได้หรือ
14Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
14ในบรรดาพระของชนชาติที่บรรพบุรุษข้าทำลายหมด มีองค์ใดช่วยประชาชนให้พ้นมือข้าได้ แล้วพระเจ้าของพวกเจ้าจะช่วยได้อย่างไร
15Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
15อย่าให้เฮเซคียาห์หลอกหรือชักจูง อย่าเชื่อเขา พระของชนชาติหรืออาณาจักรใดก็ช่วยประชาชนให้พ้นมือข้าหรือมือบรรพบุรุษไม่ได้ พระเจ้าของพวกเจ้ายิ่งจะช่วยพวกเจ้าไม่ได้’”
16And his servants spake yet more against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.
16คนของเซนนาเคอริบยังกล่าวลบหลู่พระยาห์เวห์องค์พระเจ้าและเฮเซคียาห์ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์อีกมาก
17He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
17เซนนาเคอริบเขียนจดหมายหมิ่นพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลว่า “พระของชนชาติอื่นช่วยประชาชนให้พ้นมือข้าไม่ได้ พระเจ้าของเฮเซคียาห์ก็ช่วยประชาชนของเขาให้พ้นมือข้าไม่ได้เหมือนกัน”
18Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
18พวกเขาตะโกนเป็นภาษาชาวยูดาห์เสียงดังใส่คนเยรูซาเล็มบนกำแพง เพื่อให้กลัวและวุ่นวายใจ จะได้ยึดเมือง
19And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.
19พวกเขาพูดถึงพระเจ้าแห่งเยรูซาเล็มอย่างกับเป็นพระของชนชาติอื่น ซึ่งมนุษย์สร้างด้วยมือ
20And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
20กษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์กับอิสยาห์ผู้เผยพระวจนะบุตรอาโมสจึงอธิษฐานและร้องทูลต่อสวรรค์
21¶ And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.
21พระยาห์เวห์ทรงส่งทูตสวรรค์ไปกำจัดนักรบกล้าหาญ ผู้นำ และผู้บังคับบัญชาทั้งหมดในค่ายกษัตริย์อัสซีเรีย เขาจึงกลับแผ่นดินของตนอย่างอับอาย เมื่อเข้าไปในวิหารของพระของตน ผู้ที่เป็นเลือดเนื้อเชื้อไขของเขาเอง ใช้ดาบฆ่าเขาที่นั่น
22Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other , and guided them on every side.
22พระยาห์เวห์จึงทรงช่วยเฮเซคียาห์กับชาวเยรูซาเล็มให้พ้นมือเซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์อัสซีเรียและศัตรูอื่นทั้งหมด และทรงนำทางพวกเขาในทุกด้าน
23And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
23คนจำนวนมากนำของถวายแด่พระยาห์เวห์มาเยรูซาเล็ม และนำของมีค่ามาถวายเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ ตั้งแต่นั้นชนชาติทั้งปวงยกย่องเขา
24¶ In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD : and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.
24สมัยนั้นเฮเซคียาห์ป่วยใกล้ตาย เขาอธิษฐานต่อพระยาห์เวห์ พระองค์ตรัสตอบและประทานเครื่องหมายแก่เขา
25But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
25แต่เฮเซคียาห์ไม่ได้ตอบสนองพระคุณที่ได้รับอย่างเหมาะสม เพราะเขาหยิ่งผยอง พระพิโรธจึงตกแก่เขา ยูดาห์ และเยรูซาเล็ม
26Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
26ต่อมาเฮเซคียาห์ถ่อมตนจากความหยิ่งผยองนั้น พร้อมกับชาวเยรูซาเล็ม พระพิโรธของพระยาห์เวห์จึงไม่ตกแก่พวกเขาในสมัยของเฮเซคียาห์
27¶ And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
27เฮเซคียาห์มั่งคั่งและมีเกียรติมาก เขาทำคลังเก็บเงิน ทองคำ อัญมณี เครื่องเทศ โล่ และภาชนะมีค่าทุกชนิด
28Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
28รวมทั้งยุ้งเก็บข้าว เหล้าองุ่นใหม่ น้ำมัน คอกสำหรับสัตว์ทุกชนิด และคอกฝูงแกะ
29Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
29เขายังจัดหาเมืองต่าง ๆ ไว้เป็นของตน มีฝูงแกะกับโคมากมาย เพราะพระเจ้าประทานทรัพย์สินให้มาก
30This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
30เฮเซคียาห์คนนี้ปิดตาน้ำพุตอนบนของกีโฮน แล้วนำน้ำลงมาตรงไปทางตะวันตกของนครดาวิด เขาทำงานทุกอย่างสำเร็จ
31¶ Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
31แต่เมื่อผู้นำบาบิโลนส่งทูตมาถามเรื่องเหตุอัศจรรย์ที่เกิดขึ้นในแผ่นดิน พระเจ้าทรงปล่อยเฮเซคียาห์ไว้ตามลำพัง เพื่อทดสอบและดูว่าในใจเขามีอะไร
32¶ Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
32เรื่องอื่น ๆ ของเฮเซคียาห์และความดีที่เขาทำ มีบันทึกไว้ในนิมิตของอิสยาห์ผู้เผยพระวจนะบุตรอาโมส ในหนังสือพงศาวดารกษัตริย์ยูดาห์และอิสราเอล
33And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
33เฮเซคียาห์สิ้นชีวิต พวกเขาฝังเขาตรงทางขึ้นสู่สุสานลูกหลานดาวิด ชาวยูดาห์และชาวเยรูซาเล็มทั้งหมดถวายเกียรติแก่เขาเมื่อสิ้นชีวิต มนัสเสห์บุตรชายขึ้นครองราชย์แทน
