1And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
1เยโฮชาฟัทบุตรชายอาสาขึ้นครองราชย์แทน และเสริมกำลังป้องกันอิสราเอล
2And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
2เขาวางทหารในเมืองป้อมปราการทุกแห่งของยูดาห์ ตั้งกองกำลังประจำแผ่นดินยูดาห์และเมืองต่าง ๆ ของเอฟราอิมที่อาสาบิดาของเขายึดไว้
3And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
3พระยาห์เวห์ทรงอยู่กับเยโฮชาฟัท เพราะเขาดำเนินตามแบบอย่างในช่วงต้นของดาวิดบรรพบุรุษ และไม่แสวงหาเทพเจ้าบาอัลทั้งหลาย
4But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
4แต่แสวงหาพระเจ้าของบิดา ทำตามพระบัญญัติ ไม่ทำตามอย่างอิสราเอล
5Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
5พระยาห์เวห์จึงทรงทำให้อำนาจปกครองของเขามั่นคง ชาวยูดาห์ทั้งหมดนำของบรรณาการมาถวายเยโฮชาฟัท เขาจึงมั่งคั่งและมีเกียรติมาก
6And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD : moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
6เขามุ่งมั่นดำเนินตามทางของพระยาห์เวห์ และรื้อสถานบูชาบนที่สูงกับเสาอาเชราห์ออกจากยูดาห์
7¶ Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Ben-hail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
7ปีที่ 3 แห่งรัชกาล เขาส่งผู้นำคือเบนฮาอิล โอบาดีห์ เศคาริยาห์ เนธันเอล และมีคายาห์ ไปสั่งสอนตามเมืองต่าง ๆ ของยูดาห์
8And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
8ชาวเลวีที่ไปด้วย ได้แก่ เชมายาห์ เนธานิยาห์ เศบาดิยาห์ อาสาเฮล เชมิราโมท เยโฮนาธัน อาโดนียาห์ โทบีห์ และโทบาโดนียาห์ ส่วนปุโรหิตที่ไปด้วยคือเอลีชามากับเยโฮราม
9And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
9พวกเขานำหนังสือกฎหมายของพระยาห์เวห์ไปด้วย เดินทางสั่งสอนประชาชนทั่วทุกเมืองของยูดาห์
10¶ And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
10ความยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์เกิดขึ้นในอาณาจักรทุกแห่งรอบยูดาห์ จึงไม่มีใครทำสงครามกับเยโฮชาฟัท
11Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
11ชาวฟีลิสเตียบางส่วนนำของกำนัลและเงินบรรณาการมาให้ ส่วนชาวอาหรับนำแกะตัวผู้ 7,700 ตัวกับแพะตัวผู้ 7,700 ตัวมาถวาย
12¶ And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
12เยโฮชาฟัทมีอำนาจยิ่งขึ้นมาก เขาสร้างป้อมและเมืองเก็บเสบียงในยูดาห์
13And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
13เขาดำเนินงานมากมายในเมืองต่าง ๆ ของยูดาห์ และมีนักรบกล้าหาญอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็ม
14And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
14รายชื่อทหารตามวงศ์วานมีดังนี้ ฝ่ายยูดาห์ ผู้บังคับบัญชาหน่วยพันคืออัดนาห์ มีนักรบกล้าหาญอยู่ใต้บังคับบัญชา 300,000 คน
15And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
15รองลงมาคือเยโฮฮานัน มีทหาร 280,000 คน
16And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD ; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
16ต่อมาคืออามาสิยาห์บุตรศิครี ผู้สมัครใจถวายตนแด่พระยาห์เวห์ มีนักรบกล้าหาญ 200,000 คน
17And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
17ฝ่ายเบนยามินมีเอลียาดา นักรบกล้าหาญ พร้อมทหารถือธนูกับโล่ 200,000 คน
18And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
18รองลงมาคือเยโฮศาบาด มีทหารพร้อมรบ 180,000 คน
19These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
19คนเหล่านี้รับใช้กษัตริย์ นอกเหนือจากทหารที่กษัตริย์ให้ประจำเมืองป้อมปราการทั่วยูดาห์
