1And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men , which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
1เมื่อเรโหโบอัมกลับถึงเยรูซาเล็ม เขาเรียกระดมนักรบชั้นดีจากยูดาห์และเบนยามิน 180,000 คน เพื่อทำสงครามกับอิสราเอลและนำราชอาณาจักรกลับมาอยู่ใต้อำนาจตน
2But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
2แต่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสแก่เชมายาห์คนของพระเจ้าว่า
3Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
3“จงบอกเรโหโบอัมบุตรโซโลมอน กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ และชาวอิสราเอลทั้งหมดในยูดาห์กับเบนยามินว่า
4Thus saith the LORD , Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD , and returned from going against Jeroboam.
4‘พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสดังนี้ พวกเจ้าอย่าขึ้นไปรบกับพี่น้องของตน จงกลับบ้านกันเถิด เพราะเรื่องนี้เกิดจากเรา’” พวกเขาเชื่อฟังพระดำรัสของพระยาห์เวห์ จึงกลับไปโดยไม่รบกับเยโรโบอัม
5¶ And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.
5เรโหโบอัมอาศัยอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็มและสร้างเมืองป้องกันในยูดาห์
6He built even Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
6เขาสร้างเบธเลเฮม เอตาม เทโคอา
7And Beth-zur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
7เบธศูร์ โสโค อาดุลลัม
8And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
8กัท มาเรชาห์ ศิฟ
9And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
9อาโดราอิม ลาคีช อาเซคาห์
10And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin fenced cities.
10โศราห์ อัยยาโลน และเฮโบรน เมืองเหล่านี้เป็นเมืองป้อมปราการในยูดาห์และเบนยามิน
11And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and of oil and wine.
11เขาเสริมกำลังป้อมปราการเหล่านั้น ตั้งผู้บังคับบัญชาประจำเมือง และสะสมอาหาร น้ำมัน และเหล้าองุ่น
12And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
12ทุกเมืองมีโล่และหอก เขาทำให้เมืองเหล่านี้แข็งแกร่งมาก ยูดาห์กับเบนยามินจึงอยู่ใต้อำนาจเขา
13¶ And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts.
13ปุโรหิตกับชาวเลวีจากทั่วอิสราเอลต่างเข้ามาอยู่ฝ่ายเรโหโบอัม
14For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the LORD :
14ชาวเลวีละทิ้งทุ่งเลี้ยงสัตว์และทรัพย์สินของตน แล้วไปยูดาห์กับเยรูซาเล็ม เพราะเยโรโบอัมกับบุตรชายปลดพวกเขาจากหน้าที่ปุโรหิตที่รับใช้พระยาห์เวห์
15And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.
15เยโรโบอัมแต่งตั้งปุโรหิตขึ้นเองให้ประจำสถานบูชาบนที่สูง และรับใช้รูปแพะตัวผู้กับรูปวัวที่เขาสร้างขึ้น
16And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.
16คนจากทุกเผ่าของอิสราเอลที่ตั้งใจแสวงหาพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลก็ตามชาวเลวีมาเยรูซาเล็ม เพื่อถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของบรรพบุรุษ
17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
17พวกเขาทำให้ราชอาณาจักรยูดาห์มั่นคง และเสริมกำลังเรโหโบอัมบุตรโซโลมอนอยู่ 3 ปี เพราะตลอด 3 ปีนั้นพวกเขาดำเนินตามทางของดาวิดและโซโลมอน
18¶ And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
18เรโหโบอัมแต่งงานกับมาหะลัท นางเป็นบุตรสาวของเยรีโมทกับอาบีฮาอิล เยรีโมทเป็นบุตรชายของดาวิด ส่วนอาบีฮาอิลเป็นบุตรสาวของเอลีอับบุตรชายของเจสซี
19Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
19มาหะลัทมีบุตรชายกับเขาคือเยอูช เชมาริยาห์ และศาฮัม
20And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; which bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
20ต่อมาเขาแต่งงานกับมาอาคาห์ หลานสาวของอับซาโลม นางมีบุตรกับเขาคืออาบียาห์ อัททัย ศีศา และเชโลมิท
21And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
21เรโหโบอัมรักมาอาคาห์หลานสาวของอับซาโลมมากกว่าภรรยาและภรรยาน้อยทั้งหมด เขามีภรรยา 18 คน ภรรยาน้อย 60 คน บุตรชาย 28 คน และบุตรสาว 60 คน
22And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
22เรโหโบอัมตั้งอาบียาห์บุตรชายของมาอาคาห์ให้เป็นผู้นำเหนือพี่น้อง เพราะเขาตั้งใจให้อาบียาห์ขึ้นครองราชย์
23And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many wives.
23เขาจัดการอย่างรอบคอบ โดยกระจายบุตรชายบางคนไปทั่วดินแดนยูดาห์กับเบนยามิน ตามเมืองป้อมปราการทุกแห่ง จัดเสบียงให้มากมาย และหาภรรยาหลายคนให้พวกเขา
