1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him: 'I am God Almighty; walk before Me, and be thou wholehearted.
1アブラムが九十九歳になったとき、主がアブラムに現れて言われた。「わたしは全能の神である。わたしの前を歩み、非の打ち所のない者でありなさい。
2And I will make My covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.'
2わたしは、わたしとあなたとの間に契約を立て、あなたを大いに増し加える。」
3And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying:
3アブラムはひれ伏した。神は彼に告げられた。
4'As for Me, behold, My covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of nations.
4「見よ、わたしの契約はあなたと共にある。あなたは多くの民族の父となる。
5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.
5あなたの名は、もはやアブラムとは呼ばれない。あなたの名はアブラハムとなる。わたしがあなたを多くの民族の父としたからである。
6And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
6わたしはあなたを大いに実り豊かにする。あなたから民族を起こし、あなたから王たちが出る。
7And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.
7わたしは、わたしとあなた、またあなたの後に続くあなたの子孫との間に、代々にわたる永遠の契約として、わたしの契約を立てる。それは、わたしがあなたと、あなたの後に続くあなたの子孫の神となるためである。
8And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.'
8わたしは、あなたが寄留している地、すなわちカナンの全地を、永遠の所有地としてあなたとあなたの後に続くあなたの子孫に与える。わたしは彼らの神となる。」
9And God said unto Abraham: 'And as for thee, thou shalt keep My covenant, thou, and thy seed after thee throughout their generations.
9神はアブラハムに言われた。「あなたについては、あなたとあなたの後に続くあなたの子孫は、代々にわたってわたしの契約を守らなければならない。
10This is My covenant, which ye shall keep, between Me and you and thy seed after thee: every male among you shall be circumcised.
10これは、わたしとあなたがた、またあなたの後に続く子孫との間で、あなたがたが守るべきわたしの契約である。あなたがたの中のすべての男子は割礼を受けなければならない。
11And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt Me and you.
11あなたがたは包皮の肉に割礼を受けなさい。それが、わたしとあなたがたとの間の契約のしるしとなる。
12And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any foreigner, that is not of thy seed.
12代々にわたって、あなたがたの中のすべての男子は、生まれて八日目に割礼を受けなければならない。家で生まれた者も、あなたの子孫ではない外国人から金で買われた者も皆、割礼を受けなければならない。
13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised; and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
13あなたの家で生まれた者も、あなたの金で買われた者も、必ず割礼を受けなければならない。わたしの契約は、永遠の契約として、あなたがたの肉にある。
14And the uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken My covenant.'
14包皮の肉に割礼を受けていない無割礼の男子は、その民から断ち切られる。彼はわたしの契約を破ったからである。」
15And God said unto Abraham: 'As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
15神はアブラハムに言われた。「あなたの妻サライについては、その名をサライと呼んではならない。彼女の名はサラとなる。
16And I will bless her, and moreover I will give thee a son of her; yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be of her.'
16わたしは彼女を祝福し、彼女によってあなたに男の子を与える。そうだ、わたしは彼女を祝福し、彼女は民族の母となる。彼女から諸民の王たちが出る。」
17Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart: 'Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?'
17そこでアブラハムはひれ伏して笑い、心の中で言った。「百歳の者に子どもが生まれるだろうか。九十歳のサラが子を産むだろうか。」
18And Abraham said unto God: 'Oh that Ishmael might live before Thee!'
18アブラハムは神に言った。「どうか、イシュマエルがあなたの御前で生きられますように。」
19And God said: 'Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.
19神は言われた。「いや、あなたの妻サラがあなたに男の子を産む。あなたはその名をイサクと名付けなさい。わたしは彼と、彼の後に続く彼の子孫のために、永遠の契約としてわたしの契約を立てる。
20And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee; behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
20イシュマエルについても、わたしはあなたの願いを聞き入れた。見よ、わたしは彼を祝福し、彼に子を多く与え、彼を大いに増し加える。彼は十二人の君主の父となり、わたしは彼を大いなる民族とする。
21But My covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.'
21しかし、わたしは来年のこの定めの時に、サラがあなたに産むイサクと、わたしの契約を立てる。」
22And He left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
22神はアブラハムと語り終えられると、彼を離れて上って行かれた。
23And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
23アブラハムは息子イシュマエルと、家で生まれたすべての者、金で買われたすべての者、すなわちアブラハムの家のすべての男子を連れて行き、神が彼に言われたとおり、その同じ日に彼らの包皮の肉に割礼を施した。
24And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
24アブラハムが包皮の肉に割礼を受けたとき、彼は九十九歳であった。
25And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25息子イシュマエルが包皮の肉に割礼を受けたとき、彼は十三歳であった。
26In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
26その同じ日に、アブラハムと息子イシュマエルは割礼を受けた。
27And all the men of his house, those born in the house, and those bought with money of a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
27彼の家のすべての男子、家で生まれた者、外国人から金で買われた者も、彼と共に割礼を受けた。
