Zephaniah 1

1THE WORD of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.
1ユダの王アモンの子ヨシヤの時代に、ヒゼキヤの子アマルヤ、その子ゲダルヤ、その子クシの子ゼパニヤに臨んだ主 の言葉。
2I will utterly consume all things from off the face of the earth, saith the LORD.
2「私は地の表から、すべてのものをことごとく一掃する」と主は言われる。
3I will consume man and beast, I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the earth, saith the LORD.
3「人も獣も一掃する。空の鳥、海の魚、悪者たちとともに瓦礫の山も一掃する。地の表から人を断ち滅ぼす」と主は言われる。
4And I will stretch out My hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the idolatrous priests with the priests;
4「私はユダとエルサレムのすべての住民に向かって手を伸ばす。この場所からバアルの残りを断ち、偶像に仕える祭司と異教の祭司の名を消し去る。
5And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship, that swear to the LORD and swear by Malcam;
5また、屋上で天の軍勢を拝む者たち、主を拝み、主に誓いながら、マルカムにも誓う者たち、
6Them also that are turned back from following the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired after Him.
6主に従うことをやめた者たち、主を求めず、主に伺いを立てない者たちを断ち滅ぼす。」
7Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD; for the day of the LORD is at hand, for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, He hath consecrated His guests.
7主 なる神の前で静まれ。主の日は近い。主はいけにえを備え、招いた者たちを聖別された。
8And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's sons, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel.
8「主のいけにえの日に、私は君主たち、王の息子たち、外国の衣を身に着けるすべての者を罰する。
9In the same day also will I punish all those that leap over the threshold, that fill their master's house with violence and deceit.
9その日、私は敷居を飛び越え、暴虐と欺きで主人の家を満たすすべての者を罰する。」
10And in that day, saith the LORD, Hark! a cry from the fish gate, and a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills.
10「その日には」と主は言われる。「魚の門から叫び声が、第二地区から嘆き声が、丘々から大きな崩壊の響きが聞こえる。
11Wail, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are undone; all they that were laden with silver are cut off.
11マクテシュの住民よ、泣き叫べ。カナンの民は皆滅び、銀を積んでいた者たちは皆断ち滅ぼされた。
12And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart: 'The LORD will not do good, neither will He do evil.'
12その時、私はともしびを持ってエルサレムを捜し、酒のおりの上に澱んだままの者たち、心の中で『主は良いことも悪いこともしない』と言う者たちを罰する。
13Therefore their wealth shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation; yea, they shall build houses, but shall not inhabit them, and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine thereof.
13彼らの財産は略奪され、家々は荒れ果てる。家を建てても、そこに住むことはない。ぶどう畑を植えても、そのぶどう酒を飲むことはない。」
14The great day of the LORD is near, it is near and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD, wherein the mighty man crieth bitterly.
14主の大いなる日は近い。近い。急速に迫っている。聞け、主の日の声を。勇士さえ、そこで苦く叫ぶ。
15That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
15その日は憤りの日、苦難と苦悩の日、荒廃と破滅の日、闇と暗黒の日、雲と濃い闇の日、
16A day of the horn and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high towers.
16城壁のある町々と高い胸壁に向かって、角笛と警報が鳴る日である。
17And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like the blind, because they have sinned against the LORD; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung.
17「私は人々を苦しめる。彼らは目の見えない者のように歩く。主に対して罪を犯したからだ。彼らの血はちりのように注ぎ出され、その肉は糞のように捨てられる。
18Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole earth shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy; for He will make and end, yea, a terrible end, of all them that dwell in the earth.
18主の憤りの日には、銀も金も彼らを救えない。全地は主のねたみの火に焼き尽くされる。主はこの地に住むすべての者に、まことに恐るべき終わりをもたらされる。」
