1And afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said unto Pharaoh: 'Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: Let My people go, that they may hold a feast unto Me in the wilderness.'
1หลังจากนั้นโมเสสกับอาโรนเข้าไปหาฟาโรห์และพูดว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ ‘ปล่อยประชาชนของเราไป เพื่อพวกเขาจะไปฉลองเทศกาลแด่เราในถิ่นทุรกันดาร’”
2And Pharaoh said: 'Who is the LORD, that I should hearken unto His voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, and moreover I will not let Israel go.'
2ฟาโรห์ตอบว่า “พระยาห์เวห์เป็นใคร เราถึงต้องฟังเขาและปล่อยอิสราเอลไป? เราไม่รู้จักพระยาห์เวห์ และเราจะไม่ปล่อยอิสราเอลไปด้วย”
3And they said: 'The God of the Hebrews hath met with us. Let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest He fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.'
3ทั้งสองตอบว่า “พระเจ้าของชาวฮีบรูได้มาพบกับพวกเรา โปรดให้พวกเราเดินทางเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารเป็นระยะทาง 3 วัน เพื่อถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเรา ไม่เช่นนั้นพระองค์อาจมาทำร้ายพวกเราด้วยโรคระบาดหรือด้วยดาบ”
4And the king of Egypt said unto them: 'Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, cause the people to break loose from their work? get you unto your burdens.'
4กษัตริย์อียิปต์พูดกับพวกเขาว่า “โมเสส อาโรน ทำไมพวกเจ้าถึงดึงประชาชนออกจากงานของพวกเขา? กลับไปทำงานหนักของพวกเจ้าเสีย!”
5And Pharaoh said: 'Behold, the people of the land are now many, and will ye make them rest from their burdens?'
5ฟาโรห์พูดต่อว่า “ดูสิ ตอนนี้คนในแผ่นดินมีมากมาย แล้วพวกเจ้ากลับทำให้พวกเขาหยุดจากงานหนัก”
6And the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying:
6วันนั้นเองฟาโรห์สั่งผู้คุมแรงงานและหัวหน้าคนงานของประชาชนว่า
7'Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.
7“ต่อไปนี้อย่าเอาฟางไปให้ประชาชนทำอิฐเหมือนแต่ก่อน ให้พวกเขาออกไปหาฟางเอง
8And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish aught thereof; for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying: Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
8จงกำหนดให้พวกเขาทำอิฐจำนวนเท่าเดิมเหมือนเมื่อก่อน ห้ามลดลงแม้แต่น้อย เพราะพวกเขาขี้เกียจ ถึงได้ร้องว่า ‘ให้พวกเราไปถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระเจ้าของพวกเราเถอะ’
9Let heavier work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard lying words.'
9จงเพิ่มงานให้หนักขึ้น ให้พวกเขายุ่งอยู่กับงาน จะได้ไม่สนใจคำโกหกเหล่านั้น”
10And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying: 'Thus saith Pharaoh: I will not give you straw.
10ผู้คุมแรงงานกับหัวหน้าคนงานจึงออกไปบอกประชาชนว่า “ฟาโรห์สั่งว่า ‘เราจะไม่ให้ฟางพวกเจ้าอีก
11Go yourselves, get you straw where ye can find it; for nought of your work shall be diminished.'
11พวกเจ้าไปหาฟางเอง ที่ไหนหาได้ก็เอามา แต่ปริมาณงานของพวกเจ้าจะไม่ลดลงเลย’”
12So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
12ประชาชนจึงกระจายกันไปทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์เพื่อเก็บตอซังมาใช้แทนฟาง
13And the taskmasters were urgent, saying: 'Fulfil your work, your daily task, as when there was straw.'
13ผู้คุมแรงงานเร่งรัดพวกเขาว่า “ทำงานให้ครบจำนวนที่กำหนดในแต่ละวันเหมือนตอนที่มีฟาง!”
14And the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, saying: 'Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your appointed task in making brick both yesterday and today as heretofore?'
14หัวหน้าคนงานชาวอิสราเอลที่ผู้คุมแรงงานของฟาโรห์ตั้งไว้เหนือคนงานถูกเฆี่ยน และถูกถามว่า “ทำไมเมื่อวานกับวันนี้พวกเจ้าทำอิฐไม่ครบจำนวนที่กำหนดเหมือนแต่ก่อน?”
15Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying: 'Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
15หัวหน้าคนงานชาวอิสราเอลจึงเข้าไปหาฟาโรห์และร้องว่า “ทำไมท่านถึงทำกับคนรับใช้ของท่านอย่างนี้?
16There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us: Make brick; and, behold, thy servants are beaten, but the fault is in thine own people.'
16ไม่มีใครให้ฟางพวกเรา แต่กลับสั่งว่า ‘ทำอิฐ!’ แล้วตอนนี้คนรับใช้ของท่านยังถูกเฆี่ยนอีก ทั้งที่ความผิดอยู่ที่คนของท่านเอง”
17But he said: 'Ye are idle, ye are idle; therefore ye say: Let us go and sacrifice to the LORD.
17แต่ฟาโรห์ตอบว่า “พวกเจ้าขี้เกียจ! ขี้เกียจ! ถึงได้พูดว่า ‘ให้พวกเราไปถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์เถอะ’
18Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.'
18กลับไปทำงานเดี๋ยวนี้ จะไม่มีฟางให้พวกเจ้า แต่พวกเจ้าต้องส่งอิฐให้ครบเท่าเดิม!”
19And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were set on mischief, when they said: 'Ye shall not diminish aught from your bricks, your daily task.'
19หัวหน้าคนงานชาวอิสราเอลรู้ว่าตัวเองตกอยู่ในสถานการณ์เลวร้าย เมื่อได้รับคำสั่งว่า “ห้ามลดจำนวนอิฐที่กำหนดไว้ในแต่ละวันแม้แต่น้อย”
20And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh;
20เมื่อออกจากฟาโรห์ พวกเขาพบโมเสสกับอาโรนยืนรออยู่ระหว่างทาง
21and they said unto them: 'The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.'
21พวกเขาพูดกับทั้งสองว่า “ขอให้พระยาห์เวห์มองดูและตัดสินพวกคุณเถอะ เพราะพวกคุณทำให้พวกเราน่ารังเกียจในสายตาฟาโรห์และคนรับใช้ของเขาราวกับกลิ่นเหม็น เท่ากับเอาดาบใส่มือพวกเขาให้มาฆ่าพวกเรา!”
22And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said: 'Lord, wherefore hast Thou dealt ill with this people? why is it that Thou hast sent me?
22โมเสสกลับไปหาพระยาห์เวห์และพูดว่า “พระองค์ผู้เป็นเจ้านาย ทำไมพระองค์ถึงนำความเดือดร้อนมาให้ประชาชนนี้? แล้วทำไมถึงส่งผมมา?
23For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Thy name, he hath dealt ill with this people; neither hast Thou delivered Thy people at all.'
23ตั้งแต่ผมไปหาฟาโรห์เพื่อพูดในพระนามของพระองค์ เขาก็ทำให้ประชาชนนี้เดือดร้อน แต่พระองค์ยังไม่ได้ช่วยประชาชนของพระองค์ให้พ้นเลย!”
