1打ち砕く者が、あなたに向かって上って来た。 要塞を守れ。 道を見張れ。 腰を強くせよ。 力の限り身を固めよ。
1(2-2) A maul is come up before thy face; guard the defences, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily! —
2主はヤコブの栄え、 すなわちイスラエルの栄えを回復される。 荒らす者たちが彼らを荒らし、 そのぶどうの枝を損なったからだ。
2(2-3) For the LORD restoreth the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel; for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine-branches. —
3彼の勇士たちの盾は赤く、 勇敢な兵士たちは緋色の服をまとっている。 戦いに備える日、戦車は鋼鉄の光を放ち、 松の槍が振りかざされる。
3(2-4) The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet; the chariots are fire of steel in the day of his preparation, and the cypress spears are made to quiver.
4戦車は通りを荒々しく走り、 広場を駆け巡る。 その姿はたいまつのようであり、 稲妻のように駆ける。
4(2-5) The chariots rush madly in the streets, they jostle one against another in the broad places; the appearance of them is like torches, they run to and fro like the lightnings.
5王は精鋭の兵を呼び集める。 彼らは進む途中でつまずく。 城壁へ急ぎ、 防御用の覆いが設けられる。
5(2-6) He bethinketh himself of his worthies; they stumble in their march; they make haste to the wall thereof, and the mantelet is prepared.
6川の門は開かれ、 宮殿は崩れ落ちる。
6(2-7) The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved.
7定めは下った。 彼女は裸にされ、連れ去られる。 侍女たちは鳩のような声でうめき、 胸を打つ。
7(2-8) And the queen is uncovered, she is carried away, and her handmaids moan as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.
8ニネベは昔から、 水をたたえた池のようであった。 しかし今、人々は逃げ去る。 「止まれ、止まれ」と叫んでも、 振り返る者はいない。
8(2-9) But Nineveh hath been from of old like a pool of water; yet they flee away; 'Stand, stand'; but none looketh back.
9銀を略奪せよ。 金を略奪せよ。 宝には限りがなく、 あらゆる貴重な品が豊かにある。
9(2-10) Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold; for there is no end of the store, rich with all precious vessels.
10彼女は空になり、空虚となり、荒れ果てた。 心は溶け、膝は震え、 全身から血の気が引き、 すべての顔が青ざめる。
10(2-11) She is empty, and void, and waste; and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and convulsion is in all loins, and the faces of them all have gathered blackness.
11獅子の巣はどこにあるのか。 若い獅子のえさ場はどこにあるのか。 そこでは雄獅子と雌獅子と子獅子が歩き回り、 彼らを恐れさせる者はいなかった。
11(2-12) Where is the den of the lions, which was the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, and the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid?
12雄獅子は子獅子のために十分な獲物を引き裂き、 雌獅子のために獲物をかみ殺した。 洞穴を獲物で、 巣をえじきで満たした。
12(2-13) The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with prey, and his dens with ravin.
13「見よ、私はあなたに立ち向かう」と、 万軍の主は言われる。 「私は彼女の戦車を煙の中で焼き、 剣はあなたの若い獅子たちを食い尽くす。 私はあなたの獲物を地から断ち、 あなたの使者たちの声は、もう聞かれない。」
13(2-14) Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions; and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
