1あなたの神、主が、あなたが所有するために行くその地にあなたを導き入れ、あなたの前から多くの国々の民、すなわちヘト人、ギルガシ人、アモリ人、カナン人、ペリジ人、ヒビ人、エブス人という、あなたよりも大きくて強い七つの国々の民を追い払われるとき、
1When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and shall cast out many nations before thee, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
2あなたの神、主が彼らをあなたの前に引き渡し、あなたが彼らを打つとき、彼らを完全に滅ぼせ。彼らと契約を結んではならず、あわれみを示してもならない。
2and when the LORD thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them; then thou shalt utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them;
3彼らと縁組みをしてはならない。あなたの娘を彼の息子に与えてはならず、彼の娘をあなたの息子のためにめとってはならない。
3neither shalt thou make marriages with them: thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
4彼らはあなたの息子をわたしに従うことから遠ざけ、彼らが他の神々に仕えるようになるからである。そうして主の怒りがあなたがたに向かって燃え上がり、主はすぐにあなたを滅ぼされるであろう。
4For he will turn away thy son from following Me, that they may serve other gods; so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and He will destroy thee quickly.
5彼らにはこのようにせよ。祭壇を打ち壊し、石柱を砕き、アシェラ柱を切り倒し、彫像を火で焼け。
5But thus shall ye deal with them: ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire.
6あなたはあなたの神、主にとって聖なる民だからである。あなたの神、主は地の面にいるすべての民の中から、ご自身の所有の民とするためにあなたを選ばれた。
6For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be His own treasure, out of all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
7主があなたがたを愛し、あなたがたを選ばれたのは、あなたがたが他のどの民よりも数が多かったからではない。あなたがたはすべての民の中で最も少なかったからである。
7The LORD did not set His love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people — for ye were the fewest of all peoples —
8むしろ、主があなたがたを愛し、あなたがたの父祖たちに誓われた誓いを守ろうとされたので、主は力強い御手によってあなたがたを導き出し、奴隷の家から、エジプトの王ファラオの手からあなたを贖い出されたのである。
8but because the LORD loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9それゆえ、あなたの神、主こそが神であり、真実な神であることを知りなさい。主はご自分を愛し、その命令を守る者たちには、千代に至るまで契約と慈しみを守られるが、
9Know therefore that the LORD thy God, He is God; the faithful God, who keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations;
10ご自分を憎む者たちには面と向かって報い、彼らを滅ぼされる。主はご自分を憎む者への報いを遅らせることなく、面と向かって彼に報いられる。
10and repayeth them that hate Him to their face, to destroy them; He will not be slack to him that hateth Him, He will repay him to his face.
11それゆえ、わたしが今日あなたに命じる命令、掟、法を守り行え。
11Thou shalt therefore keep the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12あなたがたがこれらの法に聞き従い、それらを守り行うなら、あなたの神、主は、あなたの父祖たちに誓われた契約と慈しみをあなたに対して守られる。
12And it shall come to pass, because ye hearken to these ordinances, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep with thee the covenant and the mercy which He swore unto thy fathers,
13主はあなたを愛し、あなたを祝福し、あなたを増やされる。また、あなたに与えるとあなたの父祖たちに誓われたその地で、あなたの胎の実と、あなたの地の産物、すなわちあなたの穀物、新しいぶどう酒、油、あなたの牛の群れの増加、羊の群れの幼いものを祝福される。
13and He will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; He will also bless the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy land, thy corn and thy wine and thine oil, the increase of thy kine and the young of thy flock, in the land which He swore unto thy fathers to give thee.
14あなたはすべての民に勝って祝福される。あなたがたの中には、男にも女にも不妊の者はなく、家畜の中にもない。
14Thou shalt be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15主はあなたからすべての病を取り除かれる。あなたが知っているエジプトのあの悪性の疫病をあなたにもたらすことはなく、あなたを憎むすべての者たちの上にそれを下される。
15And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness; and He will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee, but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
16あなたは、あなたの神、主があなたに引き渡されるすべての民を滅ぼし尽くせ。彼らをあわれんではならない。彼らの神々に仕えてはならない。それはあなたにとって罠となるからである。
16And thou shalt consume all the peoples that the LORD thy God shall deliver unto thee; thine eye shall not pity them; neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
17もしあなたが心の中で、「これらの国々の民は私よりも多い。どうして彼らを追い払うことができるだろうか」と言うなら、
17If thou shalt say in thy heart: 'These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?'
18彼らを恐れてはならない。あなたの神、主がファラオと全エジプトに行われたことをよく思い起こしなさい。
18thou shalt not be afraid of them; thou shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt:
19あなたの目が見たあの大いなる試み、しるし、不思議、力強い御手、伸ばされた腕によって、あなたの神、主はあなたを導き出されたのである。あなたの神、主は、あなたが恐れているすべての民に対しても同じようにされる。
19the great trials which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out; so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the peoples of whom thou art afraid.
20さらに、あなたの神、主は彼らの間にスズメバチを送り込まれ、ついに、生き残ってあなたから隠れている者たちも滅び去る。
20Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and they that hide themselves, perish from before thee.
21彼らのゆえに恐れおののいてはならない。あなたのただ中におられるあなたの神、主は大いなる恐るべき神だからである。
21Thou shalt not be affrighted at them; for the LORD thy God is in the midst of thee, a God great and awful.
22あなたの神、主はこれらの国々の民を、少しずつあなたの前から追い払われる。あなたは彼らを一度に滅ぼし尽くすことはできない。野の獣が増えて、あなたに害を及ぼすことがないためである。
22And the LORD thy God will cast out those nations before thee by little and little; thou mayest not consume them quickly, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
23しかし、あなたの神、主は彼らをあなたの前に引き渡し、彼らが滅ぼされるまで彼らを大いに混乱させられる。
23But the LORD thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and shall discomfit them with a great discomfiture, until they be destroyed.
24主は彼らの王たちをあなたの手に引き渡される。あなたは天の下から彼らの名を消し去る。あなたが彼らを滅ぼすまで、だれ一人としてあなたの前に立つことはできない。
24And He shall deliver their kings into thy hand, and thou shalt make their name to perish from under heaven; there shall no man be able to stand against thee, until thou have destroyed them.
25あなたがたは彼らの神々の彫像を火で燃やせ。その上にある銀や金をむさぼってはならず、自分のためにそれを取ってはならない。あなたがそれによって罠にかけられないためである。それはあなたの神、主にとって忌まわしいものだからである。
25The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire; thou shalt not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein; for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
26忌まわしいものを家に持ち込み、それと同じように滅ぼし尽くされるものとなってはならない。それを徹底して忌み、憎め。それは滅ぼし尽くされるものだからである。
26And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and be accursed like unto it; thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.
