1モーセはモアブの平野からネボ山、すなわちエリコの向かいにあるピスガの頂に登った。主は彼に、ダンに至る全ギルアデ、
1And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, even Gilead as far as Dan;
2全ナフタリ、エフライムとマナセの地、西の海に至るユダの全土、
2and all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah as far as the hinder sea;
3南 、およびツォアルに至るやしの木の町エリコの谷の平野をお見せになった。
3and the South, and the Plain, even the valley of Jericho the city of palm-trees, as far as Zoar.
4主は彼に言われた。「これが、わたしがアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに誓って、『わたしはこれをあなたの子孫に与える』と言った地である。わたしはあなたの目でそれを見させたが、あなたはそこに渡って行くことはない。」
4And the LORD said unto him: 'This is the land which I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying: I will give it unto thy seed; I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.'
5こうして主のしもべモーセは、主の言葉のとおりにモアブの地で死んだ。
5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
6主は彼をベテ・ペオルの向かいのモアブの地の谷に葬られたが、今日に至るまでだれも彼の墓を知らない。
6And he was buried in the valley in the land of Moab over against Beth-peor; and no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
7モーセは死んだ時、百二十歳であった。その目はかすまず、力も衰えていなかった。
7And Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
8イスラエルの子らはモアブの平野で三十日間、モーセのために泣き悲しんだ。こうしてモーセのために泣き悲しむ喪の日々は終わった。
8And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; so the days of weeping in the mourning for Moses were ended.
9ヌンの子ヨシュアは知恵の霊に満たされていた。モーセが彼の上に手を置いていたからである。イスラエルの子らは彼に聞き従い、主がモーセに命じられたとおりに行った。
9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him; and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.
10それ以来、イスラエルにはモーセのような預言者は起こらなかった。主は顔と顔を合わせて彼を知られ、
10And there hath not arisen a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face;
11主が彼を遣わして、エジプトの地でファラオとそのすべての家来たち、およびその全土に行わせたすべてのしるしと不思議において、
11in all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;
12また、モーセが全イスラエルの目の前で行った、あのすべての力強い御手と、あのすべての恐るべき大いなるわざにおいて、彼に並ぶ者はいなかった。
12and in all the mighty hand, and in all the great terror, which Moses wrought in the sight of all Israel.
