1我曾耐性等候耶和華； 他垂聽我的呼求。
1(40-1) For the Leader. A Psalm of David. (40-2) I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2他從禍坑裏， 從淤泥中，把我拉上來， 使我的腳立在磐石上， 使我腳步穩當。
2(40-3) He brought me up also out of the tumultuous pit, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock, He established my goings.
3他使我口唱新歌， 就是讚美我們上帝的話。 許多人必看見而懼怕， 並要倚靠耶和華。
3(40-4) And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
4那倚靠耶和華、 不理會狂傲和偏向虛假之輩的， 這人便為有福！
4(40-5) Happy is the man that hath made the LORD his trust, and hath not turned unto the arrogant, nor unto such as fall away treacherously.
5耶和華－我的上帝啊，你所行的奇事， 並你向我們所懷的意念甚多，不能向你陳明； 若要陳明，其事不可勝數。
5(40-6) Many things hast Thou done, O LORD my God, even Thy wonderful works, and Thy thoughts toward us; there is none to be compared unto Thee! If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be told.
6祭物和禮物，你不喜悅； 你已經開通我的耳朵。 燔祭和贖罪祭非你所要。
6(40-7) Sacrifice and meal-offering Thou hast no delight in; mine ears hast Thou opened; burnt-offering and sin-offering hast Thou not required.
7那時我說：看哪，我來了！ 我的事在經卷上已經記載了。
7(40-8) Then said I: 'Lo, I am come with the roll of a book which is prescribed for me;
8我的上帝啊，我樂意照你的旨意行； 你的律法在我心裏。
8(40-9) I delight to do Thy will, O my God; yea, Thy law is in my inmost parts.'
9我在大會中宣傳公義的佳音； 我必不止住我的嘴唇。 耶和華啊，這是你所知道的。
9(40-10) I have preached righteousness in the great congregation, lo, I did not refrain my lips; O LORD, Thou knowest.
10我未曾把你的公義藏在心裏； 我已陳明你的信實和你的救恩； 我在大會中未曾隱瞞你的慈愛和誠實。
10(40-11) I have not hid Thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared Thy faithfulness and Thy salvation; I have not concealed Thy mercy and Thy truth from the great congregation.
11耶和華啊，求你不要向我止住你的慈悲！ 願你的慈愛和誠實常常保佑我！
11(40-12) Thou, O LORD, wilt not withhold Thy compassions from me; let Thy mercy and Thy truth continually preserve me.
12因有無數的禍患圍困我， 我的罪孽追上了我，使我不能昂首； 這罪孽比我的頭髮還多， 我就心寒膽戰。
12(40-13) For innumerable evils have compassed me about, mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart hath failed me.
13耶和華啊，求你開恩搭救我！ 耶和華啊，求你速速幫助我！
13(40-14) Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me.
14願那些尋找我、要滅我命的，一同抱愧蒙羞！ 願那些喜悅我受害的，退後受辱！
14(40-15) Let them be ashamed and abashed together that seek after my soul to sweep it away; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that delight in my hurt.
15願那些對我說阿哈、阿哈的， 因羞愧而敗亡！
15(40-16) Let them be appalled by reason of their shame that say unto me: 'Aha, aha.'
16願一切尋求你的，因你高興歡喜！ 願那些喜愛你救恩的，常說：當尊耶和華為大！
16(40-17) Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; let such as love Thy salvation say continually: 'The LORD be magnified.'
17但我是困苦窮乏的，主仍顧念我； 你是幫助我的，搭救我的。 上帝啊，求你不要耽延！
17(40-18) But, as for me, that am poor and needy, the Lord will account it unto me; Thou art my help and my deliverer; O my God, tarry not.
