1有一日，那人和他妻子 夏娃 同房， 夏娃 就懷孕，生了 該隱 ，便說：「耶和華使我得了一個男子。」
1And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived and bore Cain, and said: 'I have gotten a man with the help of the LORD.'
2又生了 該隱 的兄弟 亞伯 。 亞伯 是牧羊的； 該隱 是種地的。
2And again she bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3有一日， 該隱 拿地裏的出產為供物獻給耶和華；
3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4亞伯 也將他羊群中頭生的和羊的脂油獻上。耶和華看中了 亞伯 和他的供物，
4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering;
5只是看不中 該隱 和他的供物。 該隱 就大大地發怒，變了臉色。
5but unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6耶和華對 該隱 說：「你為甚麼發怒呢？你為甚麼變了臉色呢？
6And the LORD said unto Cain: 'Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7你若行得好，豈不蒙悅納？你若行得不好，罪就伏在門前。它必戀慕你，你卻要制伏它。」
7If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door; and unto thee is its desire, but thou mayest rule over it.'
8該隱 與他兄弟 亞伯 說話；二人正在田間。 該隱 起來打他兄弟 亞伯 ，把他殺了。
8And Cain spoke unto Abel his brother. And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9耶和華對 該隱 說：「你兄弟 亞伯 在哪裏？」他說：「我不知道！我豈是看守我兄弟的嗎？」
9And the LORD said unto Cain: 'Where is Abel thy brother?' And he said: 'I know not; am I my brother's keeper?'
10耶和華說：「你做了甚麼事呢？你兄弟的血有聲音從地裏向我哀告。
10And He said: 'What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto Me from the ground.
11地開了口，從你手裏接受你兄弟的血。現在你必從這地受咒詛。
11And now cursed art thou from the ground, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand.
12你種地，地不再給你效力；你必流離飄蕩在地上。」
12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou be in the earth.'
13該隱 對耶和華說：「我的刑罰太重，過於我所能當的。
13And Cain said unto the LORD: 'My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14你如今趕逐我離開這地，以致不見你面；我必流離飄蕩在地上，凡遇見我的必殺我。」
14Behold, Thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the land; and from Thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth; and it will come to pass, that whosoever findeth me will slay me.'
15耶和華對他說：「凡殺 該隱 的，必遭報七倍。」耶和華就給 該隱 立一個記號，免得人遇見他就殺他。
15And the LORD said unto him: 'Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.' And the LORD set a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him.
16於是 該隱 離開耶和華的面，去住在 伊甸 東邊 挪得 之地。
16And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17該隱 與妻子同房，他妻子就懷孕，生了 以諾 。 該隱 建造了一座城，就按着他兒子的名將那城叫做 以諾 。
17And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Enoch; and he builded a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son Enoch.
18以諾 生 以拿 ； 以拿 生 米戶雅利 ； 米戶雅利 生 瑪土撒利 ； 瑪土撒利 生 拉麥 。
18And unto Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael; and Mehujael begot Methushael; and Methushael begot Lamech.
19拉麥 娶了兩個妻：一個名叫 亞大 ，一個名叫 洗拉 。
19And Lamech took unto him two wives; the name of one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20亞大 生 雅八 ； 雅八 就是住帳棚、牧養牲畜之人的祖師。
20And Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of such as dwell in tents and have cattle.
21雅八 的兄弟名叫 猶八 ；他是一切彈琴吹簫之人的祖師。
21And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all such as handle the harp and pipe.
22洗拉 又生了 土八‧該隱 ；他是打造各樣銅鐵利器的。 土八‧該隱 的妹子是 拿瑪 。
22And Zillah, she also bore Tubal-cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron; and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
23拉麥 對他兩個妻子說： 亞大 、 洗拉 ，聽我的聲音； 拉麥 的妻子，細聽我的話語： 壯年人傷我，我把他殺了； 少年人損我，我把他害了 。
23And Lamech said unto his wives: Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech; for I have slain a man for wounding me, and a young man for bruising me;
24若殺 該隱 ，遭報七倍， 殺 拉麥 ，必遭報七十七倍。
24If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
25亞當 又與妻子同房，她就生了一個兒子，起名叫 塞特 ，意思說：「上帝另給我立了一個兒子代替 亞伯 ，因為 該隱 殺了他。」
25And Adam knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Seth: 'for God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel; for Cain slew him.'
26塞特 也生了一個兒子，起名叫 以挪士 。那時候，人才求告耶和華的名。
26And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enosh; then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
