1撒拉 享壽一百二十七歲，這是 撒拉 一生的歲數。
1And the life of Sarah was a hundred and seven and twenty years; these were the years of the life of Sarah.
2撒拉 死在 迦南 地的 基列‧亞巴 ，就是 希伯崙 。 亞伯拉罕 為她哀慟哭號。
2And Sarah died in Kiriatharba — the same is Hebron — in the land of Canaan; and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
3後來 亞伯拉罕 從死人面前起來，對 赫 人說：
3And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spoke unto the children of Heth, saying:
4「我在你們中間是外人，是寄居的。求你們在這裏給我一塊地，我好埋葬我的死人，使她不在我眼前。」
4'I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.'
5赫 人回答 亞伯拉罕 說：
5And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him:
6「我主請聽。你在我們中間是一位尊大的王子，只管在我們最好的墳地裏埋葬你的死人；我們沒有一人不容你在他的墳地裏埋葬你的死人。」
6'Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us; in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.'
7亞伯拉罕 就起來，向那地的 赫 人下拜，
7And Abraham rose up, and bowed down to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.
8對他們說：「你們若有意叫我埋葬我的死人，使她不在我眼前，就請聽我的話，為我求 瑣轄 的兒子 以弗崙 ，
8And he spoke with them, saying: 'If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
9把田頭上那 麥比拉洞 給我，他可以按着足價賣給我，作我在你們中間的墳地。」
9that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for the full price let him give it to me in the midst of you for a possession of a burying-place.'
10當時 以弗崙 正坐在 赫 人中間。於是， 赫 人 以弗崙 在城門出入的 赫 人面前對 亞伯拉罕 說：
10Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying:
11「不然，我主請聽。我送給你這塊田，連田間的洞也送給你，在我同族的人面前都給你，可以埋葬你的死人。」
11'Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee; bury thy dead.'
12亞伯拉罕 就在那地的人民面前下拜，
12And Abraham bowed down before the people of the land.
13在他們面前對 以弗崙 說：「你若應允，請聽我的話。我要把田價給你，求你收下，我就在那裏埋葬我的死人。」
13And he spoke unto Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying: 'But if thou wilt, I pray thee, hear me: I will give the price of the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.'
14以弗崙 回答 亞伯拉罕 說：
14And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him:
15「我主請聽。值四百舍客勒銀子的一塊田，在你我中間還算甚麼呢？只管埋葬你的死人吧！」
15'My lord, hearken unto me: a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.'
16亞伯拉罕 聽從了 以弗崙 ，照着他在 赫 人面前所說的話，把買賣通用的銀子平了四百舍客勒給 以弗崙 。
16And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the hearing of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.
17於是， 麥比拉 、 幔利 前、 以弗崙 的那塊田和其中的洞，並田間四圍的樹木，
17So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border thereof round about, were made sure
18都定準歸與 亞伯拉罕 ，乃是他在 赫 人面前並城門出入的人面前買妥的。
18unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
19此後， 亞伯拉罕 把他妻子 撒拉 埋葬在 迦南 地 幔利 前的 麥比拉 田間的洞裏。（ 幔利 就是 希伯崙 ）。
19And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre — the same is Hebron — in the land of Canaan.
20從此，那塊田和田間的洞就藉着 赫 人定準歸與 亞伯拉罕 作墳地。
20And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a burying-place by the children of Heth.
