1這事以後，有人告訴 約瑟 說：「你的父親病了。」他就帶着兩個兒子 瑪拿西 和 以法蓮 同去。
1And it came to pass after these things, that one said to Joseph: 'Behold, thy father is sick.' And he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
2有人告訴 雅各 說：「請看，你兒子 約瑟 到你這裏來了。」 以色列 就勉強在床上坐起來。
2And one told Jacob, and said: 'Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee.' And Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.
3雅各 對 約瑟 說：「全能的上帝曾在 迦南 地的 路斯 向我顯現，賜福與我，
3And Jacob said unto Joseph: 'God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
4對我說：『我必使你生養眾多，成為多民，又要把這地賜給你的後裔，永遠為業。』
4and said unto me: Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a company of peoples; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.
5我未到 埃及 見你之先，你在 埃及 地所生的 以法蓮 和 瑪拿西 這兩個兒子是我的，正如 呂便 和 西緬 是我的一樣。
5And now thy two sons, who were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon, shall be mine.
6你在他們以後所生的就是你的，他們可以歸於他們弟兄的名下得產業。
6And thy issue, that thou begettest after them, shall be thine; they shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
7至於我，我從 巴旦 來的時候， 拉結 死在我眼前，在 迦南 地的路上，離 以法他 還有一段路程，我就把她葬在 以法他 的路上（ 以法他 就是 伯利恆 ）。」
7And as for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died unto me in the land of Canaan in the way, when there was still some way to come unto Ephrath; and I buried her there in the way to Ephrath — the same is Beth-lehem.'
8以色列 看見 約瑟 的兩個兒子，就說：「這是誰？」
8And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said: 'Who are these?'
9約瑟 對他父親說：「這是上帝在這裏賜給我的兒子。」 以色列 說：「請你領他們到我跟前，我要給他們祝福。」
9And Joseph said unto his father: 'They are my sons, whom God hath given me here.' And he said: 'Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.'
10以色列 年紀老邁，眼睛昏花，不能看見。 約瑟 領他們到他跟前，他就和他們親嘴，抱着他們。
10Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
11以色列 對 約瑟 說：「我想不到得見你的面，不料，上帝又使我得見你的兒子。」
11And Israel said unto Joseph: 'I had not thought to see thy face; and, lo, God hath let me see thy seed also.'
12約瑟 把兩個兒子從 以色列 兩膝中領出來，自己就臉伏於地下拜。
12And Joseph brought them out from between his knees; and he fell down on his face to the earth.
13隨後， 約瑟 又拉着他們兩個， 以法蓮 在他的右手裏，對着 以色列 的左手， 瑪拿西 在他的左手裏，對着 以色列 的右手，領他們到 以色列 的跟前。
13And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.
14以色列 伸出右手來，按在 以法蓮 的頭上（ 以法蓮 乃是次子），又剪搭過左手來，按在 瑪拿西 的頭上（ 瑪拿西 原是長子）。
14And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the first-born.
15他就給 約瑟 祝福說：「願我祖 亞伯拉罕 和我父 以撒 所事奉的上帝，就是一生牧養我直到今日的上帝，
15And he blessed Joseph, and said: 'The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who hath been my shepherd all my life long unto this day,
16救贖我脫離一切患難的那使者，賜福與這兩個童子。願他們歸在我的名下和我祖 亞伯拉罕 、我父 以撒 的名下。又願他們在世界中生養眾多。」
16the angel who hath redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named in them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.'
17約瑟 見他父親把右手按在 以法蓮 的頭上，就不喜悅，便提起他父親的手，要從 以法蓮 頭上挪到 瑪拿西 的頭上。
17And when Joseph saw that his father was laying his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him, and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.
18約瑟 對他父親說：「我父，不是這樣。這本是長子，求你把右手按在他的頭上。」
18And Joseph said unto his father: 'Not so, my father, for this is the first-born; put thy right hand upon his head.'
19他父親不從，說：「我知道，我兒，我知道。他也必成為一族，也必昌大。只是他的兄弟將來比他還大；他兄弟的後裔要成為多族。」
19And his father refused, and said: 'I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; howbeit his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.'
20當日就給他們祝福說：「 以色列 人要指着你們祝福說：『願上帝使你如 以法蓮 、 瑪拿西 一樣。』」於是立 以法蓮 在 瑪拿西 以上。
20And he blessed them that day, saying: 'By thee shall Israel bless, saying: God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh.' And he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
21以色列 又對 約瑟 說：「我要死了，但上帝必與你們同在，領你們回到你們列祖之地。
21And Israel said unto Joseph: 'Behold, I die; but God will be with you, and bring you back unto the land of your fathers.
22並且我從前用弓用刀從 亞摩利 人手下奪的那塊地，我都賜給你，使你比眾弟兄多得一分。」
22Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.'
