Psalms 90

Berean Standard Bible
Clementine Vulgate, 1598
1Lord, You have been our dwelling place through all generations.
1Laus cantici David. [Qui habitat in adjutorio Altissimi, in protectione Dei cæli commorabitur.
2Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.
2Dicet Domino: Susceptor meus es tu, et refugium meum; Deus meus, sperabo in eum.
3You return man to dust, saying, “Return, O sons of mortals.”
3Quoniam ipse liberavit me de laqueo venantium, et a verbo aspero.
4For in Your sight a thousand years are but a day that passes, or a watch of the night.
4Scapulis suis obumbrabit tibi, et sub pennis ejus sperabis.
5You whisk them away in their sleep; they are like the new grass of the morning—
5Scuto circumdabit te veritas ejus: non timebis a timore nocturno;
6in the morning it springs up new, but by evening it fades and withers.
6a sagitta volante in die, a negotio perambulante in tenebris, ab incursu, et dæmonio meridiano.
7For we are consumed by Your anger and terrified by Your wrath.
7Cadent a latere tuo mille, et decem millia a dextris tuis; ad te autem non appropinquabit.
8You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence.
8Verumtamen oculis tuis considerabis, et retributionem peccatorum videbis.
9For all our days decline in Your fury; we finish our years with a sigh.
9Quoniam tu es, Domine, spes mea; Altissimum posuisti refugium tuum.
10The length of our days is seventy years— or eighty if we are strong— yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
10Non accedet ad te malum, et flagellum non appropinquabit tabernaculo tuo.
11Who knows the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear You are due.
11Quoniam angelis suis mandavit de te, ut custodiant te in omnibus viis tuis.
12So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom.
12In manibus portabunt te, ne forte offendas ad lapidem pedem tuum.
13Return, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on Your servants.
13Super aspidem et basiliscum ambulabis, et conculcabis leonem et draconem.
14Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving devotion, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
14Quoniam in me speravit, liberabo eum; protegam eum, quoniam cognovit nomen meum.
15Make us glad for as many days as You have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil.
15Clamabit ad me, et ego exaudiam eum; cum ipso sum in tribulatione: eripiam eum, et glorificabo eum.
16May Your work be shown to Your servants, and Your splendor to their children.
16Longitudine dierum replebo eum, et ostendam illi salutare meum.]
17May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands— yes, establish the work of our hands!
