Meriam Mir Gospels
Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1Abele mer gaire le giz elele detarare abkesem, abele mer keriba emetu erdarda,
1Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a narration of the things that have been accomplished among us;
2Mokakalam uiaba nakuarare keribim, ui ge emetu erdarare, pako memeg le giz ditimeda abele mer,
2According as they have delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word:
3Abelelam kaka dikiapor, abele kai deraimer gaire lu uridili peirdi ika ditimedilu, kaka daotare abkesem marim, opole Teofilo;
3It seemed good to me also, having diligently attained to all things from the beginning, to write to thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
4Ueakai ma umele ageakar abele gaire lu, emetu mari ereuerem.
4That thou mayest know the verity of those words in which thou hast been instructed.
5Abele kerker ge Heroda, Iudaia opole, nerute zogo kemle, abara nei Zakaria, Abia ra nosik: abara kosker, Arona ra boai, abara nei Elisabeta.
5There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zachary, of the course of Abia; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name Elizabeth.
6Ui barkak tonar Ade ra op ge, uiaba irmilei Iehoua ra mer gelar giz, nole asauersili kak.
6And they were both just before God, walking in all the commandments and justifications of the Lord without blame.
7Ui ge daralei nole uerem kak, abelelam Elisabeta E soaso, ui ge akailei aule bailei.
7And they had no son, for that Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.
8E ikerer tabara dorge, E zogo le Ade ra op ge, E tabara nosik erag,
8And it came to pass, when he executed the priestly function in the order of his course before God,
9Mokakalam zogo le la tonar, abara dorge E badarer Iehoua ra zogo meta ge, E urim iger debe laglag lu.
9According to the custom of the priestly office, it was his lot to offer incense, going into the temple of the Lord.
10Uiaba gaire le lakub giz esorerapare adige, abele kerker iger debe laglag lu.
10And all the multitude of the people was praying without, at the hour of incense.
11Ege Iehoua ra angela de abi etomelu, tuter pek debe laglag lu bao ge.
11And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the alter of incense.
12A Zakaria de abi emetu erdar, abele ge ezigmalu, au geum baruk.
12And Zachary seeing him, was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13Ege angela de abi detager, kega, Zakaria ae, ma nolea geum kak: abelelam mara esorarapare Ade de emetu asoli, mara kosker Elisabeta de ia mara uerem, keubu uaesemur abi nei atker Ioane.
13But the angel said to him: Fear not, Zachary, for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John:
14A marim sererserer bai, iako gaire le sererege abielam:
14And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice in his nativity.
15Abelelam E aule Iehoua ra opem, nole uaina are kak, pako gorog, a mitkar Lamar Zogo abele ge, ditimedelu abele kerker ge E osmelu.
15For he shall be great before the Lord; and shall drink no wine nor strong drink: and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
16A darabgerare tababim Isaraela le ra omasker Iehouaim uiaba Ade.
16And he shall convert many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.
17E kekiam Elia ra op ge, a adigir gako saserim, a nerkep depeger abem a apuem a omaskerem, darapegerare uiabim asorkaklam debe pardalem a debe tonarem; a ege derser abged abkoreb Iehouaim.
17And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias; that he may turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the incredulous to the wisdom of the just, to prepare unto the Lord a perfect people.
18A Zakaria etkalu abim angelaim, kega, Nalu atamelam iaka nakaielu umele nabailu? Na gabe, emetu kaka aule baida, pako kara kosker aule baida.
18And Zachary said to the angel: Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.
19A angela eutumer abim detager, kega, Kakanali Gaberiela, kaka nakuei Ade ra op ge; kari pe taramarida iaka natomelu abele debe mer iaka marim.
19And the angel answering, said to him: I am Gabriel, who stand before God: and am sent to speak to thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.
20A dasmer, mabe te dabimdabim, baida nole mer agar kak, iski abele gerger abelegelam mabe kara mer ma desardili abele lu pem keubu erdare ageakar.
20And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be able to speak until the day wherein these things shall come to pass, because thou hast not believed my words, which shall be fulfilled in their time.
21A ab gedge dekailare Zakaria mer aridarid, a uapum bakeam a Ade ra zogo meta.
21And the people were waiting for Zachary; and they wondered that he tarried so long in the temple.
22A ege teosmelu adem, mer atager kak uiabim; uiaba abi damrare, ege kerker nerute atamelam zogo meta ge, ege E opu darakiriare uiabim, ege E dabimdabim.
22And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they understood that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he made signs to them, and remained dumb.
23A ege abara gerger desmulu, ege ko takomelu tabara boaiem.
23And it came to pass, after the days of his office were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
24A ege keubu gerger basemerare abara kosker Elisabeta kem eskemer; ege E gumik dauer, a faife abara meb, a daraketarare,
24And after those days, Elizabeth his wife conceived, and hid herself five months, saying:
25Ege Ade ikeli gerger karim, a kari uanasmerare, E adem depegi kara sirip.
25Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he hath had regard to take away my reproach among men.
26A ege abara meb sikes, Ade de angela temariklu, nei Gaberiela, Galilaiaem a Nazaretaem,
26And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
27Abi gobar detager, Dauida ra boai kimiarem, a E Iosefai akemelu tababim kimiarem, abara nei Maria.
27To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28Abele angela tababu abi detager, kega, Kaka au omare marim, Iehoua uadoa mari dog; ma uerkab kosker gaire kosker ge.
28And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29Ege abi dasmer, ege abara okasosok baruk abele merlam, E dikiapore nalu lu pe omare dali.
29Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.
30A angela de abi detager, kega, Maria ae, ma nole geum kak; abelelam Ade mari au omare.
30And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.
31Dasmer, ma keubu ia kem eskemer, ese ma esmeloa kimiare uerem, a nei etkeroa Iesu .
31Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.
32E au kale, a nei etkeroa, Ageakar Opole ra Uerem: a Ade de abi nakuar ko emeri Dauida ra sik, abara aba:
32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.
33E opole obaina Iakobo ra boai ge; abara baselaia ge nole mop kak.
33And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
34Ege Maria de angela itimer, kega, Ua nade, ka nole kimiar ardar kak?
34And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?
35A ge angela etkalu abim, kega, Lamar Zogo natabu, a Ageakar Opole ra adigir mari tumge; abelelam mabara uerem zogo, tabara nei, Ada ra Uerem.
35And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36Dasmer, mara boai Elisabeta, E aule, emetu kem eskemer abara kimiar uerem: sikes meb abele kerker, E soaso.
36And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren:
37Abelelam Ade umele gaire lu uridili E ikeli.
37Because no word shall be impossible with God.
38Ege Maria de abi detager, kega, Kaka Iehoua ra memeg le; uao debele pema nakaida kari abkoreb mara mer. Ege angela de abi dakaelu.
38And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
39Ege Maria ekueilu abele kerker ge, dudumge bakeamulu dordor paserem, Iuda ra utebem;
39And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda.
40Ege E bakeamulu Zakaria ra meta ge balu, a Elisabeta eskos.
40And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth.
41Ege Elisabeta de asor Maria ra nas, ege uerem dekumur a detatimir muige kem ge; pako Elisabeta ra mitkar Lamar Zogo;
41And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42Ege E ereretikri au kase, a detager, kega, Uerkab kosker ma, pako abele uerem uerkab osmeda.
42And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43Nako abele lu, tabakeamud karim kara Opole ra apu?
43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44Dasmer, iski a ikeli kodo mer de, mara omare karim ka asoli, ege ko uerem bagererdilu muige kara kem ge sererege.
44For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
45Ege uerkab kosker ra oditur; abelelam ageakar mer Iehoua de pe etomeret abim.
45And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.
46Ege Maria detaut, kega, Kara nerkep baospili Iehouaim,
46And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord.
47Ege kara nerkep au sererege Ade, E kari nazemoada.
47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48A akai lu Iehoua de dasmer abele abara kosker memeg nole aule kak: abele kerker ge ditimedelu, ege gaire nosik uerkab karim.
48Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49Abelegelam E dali au adigiri nagri, E gaire au lu karim ikeli; abara nei zogo le.
49Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name.
50E au omare gaire le la geum, bauder gaire nosik.
50And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him.
51Ege saserim tabara tag, E adem gaire le lagelage aule dikiapor uiaba nerkep.
51He hath shewed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
52Ege naimartare uader opole baolam, ege uader ge nogoka emereder ga baker aule.
52He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble.
53Ege darasisilare uader le uiaba uererege debe leuer; uader luglug le no bakeuare.
53He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
54Ege abi upiditidare tabara memeg le Isaraela, E abi au omare:
54He hath received Israel his servant, being mindful of his mercy:

57Now Elizabeth’s full time of being delivered was come, and she brought forth a son.
58Ui aserare ge, abara boai giz, Iehoua au omare abi; ui ge sererege abim.
58And her neighbours and kinsfolks heard that the Lord had shewed his great mercy towards her, and they congratulated with her.

59And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they called him by his father’s name Zachary.
60Ege abara apu ge uiabi detaut, kega, Nole abele; epe tabara nei Ioane.
60And his mother answering, said: Not so; but he shall be called John.
61Ui ge abi detagerare, kega, Mara ko boai obatkereda Ioane nei.
61And they said to her: There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
62Ui ge abara aba opu mer detagerare, Ma pe nako ma dikiapore abara nei?
62And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
63E ge uiabi daratagerare, kega, Seleti tekadarare karim; E detali, Abara nei Ioane. Ui ge au kasege damrare.
63And demanding a writing table, he wrote, saying: John is his name. And they all wondered.
64Ege akailu merkar etkalu, tabara uerut detue, E mer detaut, a au esoao Adim.
64And immediately his mouth was opened, and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God.
65Ege uader maike abi dog ga erdarare uiabim ga geum barkare; abele mer dordor paser ge Iudaia ge ga esao.
65And fear came upon all their neighbours; and all these things were noised abroad over all the hill country of Judea.
66Ui ge emetu aserare ga dikiaporare, kega, Nalu uerem dali? Abelelam Iehoua ra tag abi dog pako abi upinati.
66And all they that had heard them laid them up in their heart, saying: What an one, think ye, shall this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.
67Ege abara aba dauer Zakaria mitkar Lamar Zogo, E ekerer perofeta dorge, kega,
67And Zachary his father was filled with the Holy Ghost; and he prophesied, saying:
68Esoao Isaraela ra Ade, Iehoua pedali; E meribi dasmer E meribi dazimoareta abara ged ge,
68Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; because he hath visited and wrought the redemption of his people:
69Iski sekerise meribim uerkab Dauida ra boai ge abara memeg le,
69And hath raised up an horn of salvation to us, in the house of David his servant:
70Mokakalam ge emeret ge, Iehoua de daratagerare gaire zogo perofeta,
70As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who are from the beginning:

77To give knowledge of salvation to his people, unto the remission of their sins:
78Epe Ade pe meriba nasge dali, a kotor datki meribim.
78Through the bowels of the mercy of our God, in which the Orient from on high hath visited us:
79Datki ga baziarare gesepem kupikupiem, datki moar degrered meriba teter gab karem.
79To enlighten them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death: to direct our feet into the way of peace.
80Ege abele uerem ga batai, abara nerkep saserim, sumez ge emri, ga abi etomertare Isaraela le giz abi.
80And the child grew, and was strengthened in spirit; and was in the deserts until the day of his manifestation to Israel.
