1提阿非罗 大人哪，有好些人提笔作书，述说在我们中间所成就的事，是照传道的人从起初亲眼看见又传给我们的。
1Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a narration of the things that have been accomplished among us;
no verse 2 in this text
2According as they have delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word:
3这些事我既从起头都详细考察了，就定意要按着次序写给你，
3It seemed good to me also, having diligently attained to all things from the beginning, to write to thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
4使你知道所学之道都是确实的。
4That thou mayest know the verity of those words in which thou hast been instructed.
5当 犹太 王 希律 的时候， 亚比雅 班里有一个祭司，名叫 撒迦利亚 ；他妻子是 亚伦 的后人，名叫 伊利莎白 。
5There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zachary, of the course of Abia; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name Elizabeth.
6他们二人在 神面前都是义人，遵行主的一切诫命礼仪，没有可指摘的，
6And they were both just before God, walking in all the commandments and justifications of the Lord without blame.
7只是没有孩子；因为 伊利莎白 不生育，两个人又年纪老迈了。
7And they had no son, for that Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.
8撒迦利亚 按班次在 神面前供祭司的职分，
8And it came to pass, when he executed the priestly function in the order of his course before God,
9照祭司的规矩掣签，得进主殿烧香。
9According to the custom of the priestly office, it was his lot to offer incense, going into the temple of the Lord.
10烧香的时候，众百姓在外面祷告。
10And all the multitude of the people was praying without, at the hour of incense.
11有主的使者站在香坛的右边，向他显现。
11And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the alter of incense.
12撒迦利亚 看见，就惊慌害怕。
12And Zachary seeing him, was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13天使对他说：「 撒迦利亚 ，不要害怕，因为你的祈祷已经被听见了。你的妻子 伊利莎白 要给你生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫 约翰 。
13But the angel said to him: Fear not, Zachary, for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John:
14你必欢喜快乐；有许多人因他出世，也必喜乐。
14And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice in his nativity.
15他在主面前将要为大，淡酒浓酒都不喝，从母腹里就被圣灵充满了。
15For he shall be great before the Lord; and shall drink no wine nor strong drink: and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
16他要使许多 以色列 人回转，归于主—他们的 神。
16And he shall convert many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.
17他必有 以利亚 的心志能力，行在主的前面，叫为父的心转向儿女，叫悖逆的人转从义人的智慧，又为主预备合用的百姓。」
17And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias; that he may turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the incredulous to the wisdom of the just, to prepare unto the Lord a perfect people.
18撒迦利亚 对天使说：「我凭着什么可知道这事呢？我已经老了，我的妻子也年纪老迈了。」
18And Zachary said to the angel: Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.
19天使回答说：「我是站在 神面前的 加百列 ，奉差而来对你说话，将这好信息报给你。
19And the angel answering, said to him: I am Gabriel, who stand before God: and am sent to speak to thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.
20到了时候，这话必然应验；只因你不信，你必哑巴，不能说话，直到这事成就的日子。」
20And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be able to speak until the day wherein these things shall come to pass, because thou hast not believed my words, which shall be fulfilled in their time.
21百姓等候 撒迦利亚 ，诧异他许久在殿里。
21And the people were waiting for Zachary; and they wondered that he tarried so long in the temple.
22及至他出来，不能和他们说话，他们就知道他在殿里见了异象；因为他直向他们打手式，竟成了哑巴。
22And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they understood that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he made signs to them, and remained dumb.
23他供职的日子已满，就回家去了。
23And it came to pass, after the days of his office were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
24这些日子以后，他的妻子 伊利莎白 怀了孕，就隐藏了五个月，
24And after those days, Elizabeth his wife conceived, and hid herself five months, saying:
25说：「主在眷顾我的日子，这样看待我，要把我在人间的羞耻除掉。」
25Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he hath had regard to take away my reproach among men.
26到了第六个月，天使 加百列 奉 神的差遣往 加利利 的一座城去（这城名叫 拿撒勒 ），
26And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
27到一个童女那里，是已经许配 大卫 家的一个人，名叫 约瑟 。童女的名字叫 马利亚 ；
27To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28天使进去，对她说：「蒙大恩的女子，我问你安，主和你同在了！」
28And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29马利亚 因这话就很惊慌，又反复思想这样问安是什么意思。
29Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.
30天使对她说：「 马利亚 ，不要怕！你在 神面前已经蒙恩了。
30And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.
31你要怀孕生子，可以给他起名叫耶稣。
31Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.
32他要为大，称为至高者的儿子；主 神要把他祖 大卫 的位给他。
32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.
33他要作 雅各 家的王，直到永远；他的国也没有穷尽。」
33And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
34马利亚 对天使说：「我没有出嫁，怎么有这事呢？」
34And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?
35天使回答说：「圣灵要临到你身上，至高者的能力要荫庇你，因此所要生的圣者必称为 神的儿子。
35And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36况且你的亲戚 伊利莎白 ，在年老的时候也怀了男胎，就是那素来称为不生育的，现在有孕六个月了。
36And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren:
37因为，出于 神的话，没有一句不带能力的。」
37Because no word shall be impossible with God.
38马利亚 说：「我是主的使女，情愿照你的话成就在我身上。」天使就离开她去了。
38And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
39那时候， 马利亚 起身，急忙往山地里去，来到 犹大 的一座城；
39And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda.
40进了 撒迦利亚 的家，问 伊利莎白 安。
40And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth.
41伊利莎白 一听 马利亚 问安，所怀的胎就在腹里跳动。 伊利莎白 且被圣灵充满，
41And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42高声喊着说：「你在妇女中是有福的！你所怀的胎也是有福的！
42And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43我主的母到我这里来，这是从哪里得的呢？
43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44因为你问安的声音一入我耳，我腹里的胎就欢喜跳动。
44For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
45这相信的女子是有福的！因为主对她所说的话都要应验。」
45And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.
46马利亚 说： 我心尊主为大；
46And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord.
47我灵以 神我的救主为乐；
47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48因为他顾念他使女的卑微； 从今以后， 万代要称我有福。
48Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49那有权能的，为我成就了大事； 他的名为圣。
49Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name.
50他怜悯敬畏他的人， 直到世世代代。
50And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him.
51他用膀臂施展大能； 那狂傲的人正心里妄想就被他赶散了。
51He hath shewed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
52他叫有权柄的失位， 叫卑贱的升高；
52He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble.
53叫饥饿的得饱美食， 叫富足的空手回去。
53He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
54他扶助了他的仆人 以色列 ，
54He hath received Israel his servant, being mindful of his mercy:
55为要记念 亚伯拉罕 和他的后裔， 施怜悯直到永远， 正如从前对我们列祖所说的话。
55As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed for ever.
56马利亚 和 伊利莎白 同住，约有三个月，就回家去了。
56And Mary abode with her about three months; and she returned to her own house.
57伊利莎白 的产期到了，就生了一个儿子。
57Now Elizabeth’s full time of being delivered was come, and she brought forth a son.
58邻里亲族听见主向她大施怜悯，就和她一同欢乐。
58And her neighbours and kinsfolks heard that the Lord had shewed his great mercy towards her, and they congratulated with her.
59到了第八日，他们来要给孩子行割礼，并要照他父亲的名字叫他 撒迦利亚 。
59And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they called him by his father’s name Zachary.
60他母亲说：「不可！要叫他 约翰 。」
60And his mother answering, said: Not so; but he shall be called John.
61他们说：「你亲族中没有叫这名字的。」
61And they said to her: There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
62他们就向他父亲打手式，问他要叫这孩子什么名字。
62And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
63他要了一块写字的板，就写上，说：「他的名字是 约翰 。」他们便都希奇。
63And demanding a writing table, he wrote, saying: John is his name. And they all wondered.
64撒迦利亚 的口立时开了，舌头也 舒展了 ，就说出话来，称颂 神。
64And immediately his mouth was opened, and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God.
65周围居住的人都惧怕；这一切的事就传遍了 犹太 的山地。
65And fear came upon all their neighbours; and all these things were noised abroad over all the hill country of Judea.
66凡听见的人都将这事放在心里，说：「这个孩子将来怎么样呢？因为有主与他同在。」
66And all they that had heard them laid them up in their heart, saying: What an one, think ye, shall this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.
67他父亲 撒迦利亚 被圣灵充满了，就预言说：
67And Zachary his father was filled with the Holy Ghost; and he prophesied, saying:
68主— 以色列 的 神是应当称颂的！ 因他眷顾他的百姓，为他们施行救赎，
68Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; because he hath visited and wrought the redemption of his people:
69在他仆人 大卫 家中， 为我们兴起了拯救的角，
69And hath raised up an horn of salvation to us, in the house of David his servant:
70正如主借着从创世以来圣先知的口所说的话，
70As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who are from the beginning:
71拯救我们脱离仇敌 和一切恨我们之人的手，
71Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us:
72向我们列祖施怜悯， 记念他的圣约—
72To perform mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy testament,
73就是他对我们祖宗 亚伯拉罕 所起的誓—
73The oath, which he swore to Abraham our father, that he would grant to us,
74叫我们既从仇敌手中被救出来，
74That being delivered from the hand of our enemies, we may serve him without fear,
75就可以终身在他面前， 坦然无惧地用圣洁、公义事奉他。
75In holiness and justice before him, all our days.
76孩子啊！你要称为至高者的先知； 因为你要行在主的前面， 预备他的道路，
76And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways:
77叫他的百姓因罪得赦， 就知道救恩。
77To give knowledge of salvation to his people, unto the remission of their sins:
78因我们 神怜悯的心肠， 叫清晨的日光从高天临到我们，
78Through the bowels of the mercy of our God, in which the Orient from on high hath visited us:
79要照亮坐在黑暗中死荫里的人， 把我们的脚引到平安的路上。
79To enlighten them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death: to direct our feet into the way of peace.
80那孩子渐渐长大，心灵强健，住在旷野，直到他显明在 以色列 人面前的日子。
80And the child grew, and was strengthened in spirit; and was in the deserts until the day of his manifestation to Israel.
