1约书亚 死后， 以色列 人求问耶和华说：「我们中间谁当首先上去攻击 迦南 人，与他们争战？」
1After the death of Josue the children of Israel consulted the Lord, saying: Who shall go up before us against the Chanaanite, and shall be the leader of the war?
2耶和华说：「 犹大 当先上去，我已将那地交在他手中。」
2And the Lord said: Juda shall go up: behold I have delivered the land into his hands.
3犹大 对他哥哥 西缅 说：「请你同我到拈阄所得之地去，好与 迦南 人争战；以后我也同你到你拈阄所得之地去。」于是 西缅 与他同去。
3And Juda said to Simeon his brother: Come up with me into my lot, and fight against the Chanaanite, that I also may go along with thee into thy lot. And Simeon went with him.
4犹大 就上去；耶和华将 迦南 人和 比利洗 人交在他们手中。他们在 比色 击杀了一万人，
4And Juda went up, and the Lord delivered the Chanaanite, and the Pherezite into their hands: and they slew of them in Bezec ten thousand men.
5又在那里遇见 亚多尼·比色 ，与他争战，杀败 迦南 人和 比利洗 人。
5And they found Adonibezec in Bezec, and fought against him, and they defeated the Chanaanite, and the Pherezite.
6亚多尼·比色 逃跑；他们追赶，拿住他，砍断他手脚的大拇指。
6And Adonibezec fled: and they pursued after him and took him, and cut off his fingers and toes.
7亚多尼·比色 说：「从前有七十个王，手脚的大拇指都被 我 砍断，在我桌子底下拾取 零碎食物 。现在 神按着我所行的报应我了。」于是他们将 亚多尼·比色 带到 耶路撒冷 ，他就死在那里。
7And Adonibezec said: Seventy kings having their fingers and toes cut off, gathered up the leavings of the meat under my table: as I have done, so hath God requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
8犹大 人攻打 耶路撒冷 ，将城攻取，用刀杀了城内的人，并且放火烧城。
8And the children of Juda besieging Jerusalem, took it, and put it to the sword, and set the whole city on fire.
9后来 犹大 人下去，与住山地、南地，和高原的 迦南 人争战。
9And afterwards they went down and fought against the Chanaanite, who dwelt in the mountains, and in the south, and in the plains.
10犹大 人去攻击住 希伯 的 迦南 人，杀了 示筛 、 亚希幔 、 挞买 。 希伯 从前名叫 基列·亚巴 。
10And Juda going forward against the Chanaanite, that dwelt in Hebron (the name whereof was in former times Cariath-Arbe) slew Sesai, and Ahiman, and Tholmai:
11他们从那里去攻击 底壁 的居民； 底壁 从前名叫 基列·西弗 。
11And departing from thence he went to the inhabitants of Dabir, the ancient name of which was Cariath-Sepher, that is, the city of letters.
12迦勒 说：「谁能攻打 基列·西弗 ，将城夺取，我就把我女儿 押撒 给他为妻。」
12And Caleb said: He that shall take Cariath-Sepher, and lay it waste, to him will I give my daughter Axa to wife.
13迦勒 兄弟 基纳斯 的儿子 俄陀聂 夺取了那城， 迦勒 就把女儿 押撒 给他为妻。
13And Othoniel the son of Cenez, the younger brother of Caleb, having taken it, he gave him Axa his daughter to wife.
14押撒 过门的时候，劝丈夫向她父亲求一块田。 押撒 一下驴， 迦勒 问她说：「你要什么？」
14And as she was going on her way her husband admonished her to ask a field of her father. And as she sighed sitting on her ass, Caleb said to her: What aileth thee?
15她说：「求你赐福给我，你既将我安置在南地，求你也给我水泉。」 迦勒 就把上泉下泉赐给她。
15But she answered: Give me a blessing, for thou hast given me a dry land: give me also a watery land. So Caleb gave her the upper and the nether watery ground.
16摩西 的内兄是 基尼 人，他的子孙与 犹大 人一同离了棕树城，往 亚拉得 以南的 犹大 旷野去，就住在民中。
16And the children of the Cinite, the kinsman of Moses, went up from the city of palms, with the children of Juda into the wilderness of his lot, which is at the south side of Arad, and they dwelt with him.
17犹大 和他哥哥 西缅 同去，击杀了住 洗法 的 迦南 人，将城尽行毁灭，那城的名便叫 何珥玛 。
17And Juda went with Simeon his brother, and they together defeated the Chanaanites that dwelt in Sephaath, and slew them. And the name of the city was called Horma, that is, Anathema.
18犹大 又取了 迦萨 和 迦萨 的四境， 亚实基伦 和 亚实基伦 的四境， 以革伦 和 以革伦 的四境。
18And Juda took Gaza with its confines, and Ascalon and Accaron with their confines.
19耶和华与 犹大 同在， 犹大 就赶出山地的 居民 ，只是不能赶出平原的居民，因为他们有铁车。
19And the Lord was with Juda, and he possessed the hill country: but was not able to destroy the inhabitants of the valley, because they had many chariots armed with scythes.
20以色列 人照 摩西 所说的，将 希伯 给了 迦勒 ； 迦勒 就从那里赶出 亚衲 族的三个族长。
20And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said, who destroyed out of it the three sons of Enac.
21便雅悯 人没有赶出住 耶路撒冷 的 耶布斯 人。 耶布斯 人仍在 耶路撒冷 与 便雅悯 人同住，直到今日。
21But the sons of Benjamin did not destroy the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem: and the Jebusite hath dwelt with the sons of Benjamin in Jerusalem until this present day.
22约瑟 家也上去攻打 伯特利 ；耶和华与他们同在。
22The house of Joseph also went up against Bethel, and the Lord was with them.
23约瑟 家打发人去窥探 伯特利 （那城起先名叫 路斯 ）。
23For when they were besieging the city, which before was called Luza,
24窥探的人看见一个人从城里出来，就对他说：「求你将进城的路指示我们，我们必恩待你。」
24They saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him: Shew us the entrance into the city, and we will shew thee mercy.
25那人将进城的路指示他们，他们就用刀击杀了城中的居民，但将那人和他全家放去。
25And when he had shewn them, they smote the city with the edge of the sword: but that man and all his kindred they let go:
26那人往 赫 人之地去，筑了一座城，起名叫 路斯 。那城到如今还叫这名。
26Who being sent away, went into the land of Hethim, and built there a city, and called it Luza: which is so called until this day.
27玛拿西 没有赶出 伯·善 和属 伯·善 乡村的 居民 ， 他纳 和属 他纳 乡村的 居民 ， 多珥 和属 多珥 乡村的居民， 以伯莲 和属 以伯莲 乡村的居民， 米吉多 和属 米吉多 乡村的居民； 迦南 人却执意住在那些地方。
27Manasses also did not destroy Bethsan, and Thanac with their villages, nor the inhabitants of Dor, and Jeblaam, and Mageddo with their villages. And the Chanaanite began to dwell with them.
28及至 以色列 强盛了，就使 迦南 人做苦工，没有把他们全然赶出。
28But after Israel was grown strong he made them tributaries, and would not destroy them.
29以法莲 没有赶出住 基色 的 迦南 人。于是 迦南 人仍住在 基色 ，在 以法莲 中间。
29Ephraim also did not slay the Chanaanite that dwelt in Gazer, but dwelt with him.
30西布伦 没有赶出 基伦 的居民和 拿哈拉 的居民。于是 迦南 人仍住在 西布伦 中间，成了服苦的人。
30Zabulon destroyed not the inhabitants of Cetron, and Naalol: but the Chanaanite dwelt among them, and became their tributaries.
31亚设 没有赶出 亚柯 和 西顿 的居民， 亚黑拉 和 亚革悉 的居民， 黑巴 、 亚弗革 与 利合 的居民。
31Aser also destroyed not the inhabitants of Accho, and of Sidon, of Ahalab, and of Achazib, and of Helba, and of Aphec, and of Rohob:
32于是， 亚设 因为没有赶出那地的 迦南 人，就住在他们中间。
32And he dwelt in the midst of the Chanaanites the inhabitants of that land, and did not slay them.
33拿弗他利 没有赶出 伯·示麦 和 伯·亚纳 的居民，于是 拿弗他利 就住在那地的 迦南 人中间；然而 伯·示麦 和 伯·亚纳 的居民成了服苦的人。
33Nephtali also destroyed not the inhabitants of Bethsames, and of Bethanath: and he dwelt in the midst of the Chanaanites the inhabitants of the land, and the Bethsamites and Bethanites were tributaries to him.
34亚摩利 人强逼 但 人住在山地，不容他们下到平原；
34And the Amorrhite straitened the children of Dan in the mountain, and gave them not place to go down to the plain:
35亚摩利 人却执意住在 希烈山 和 亚雅 并 沙宾 。然而 约瑟 家胜了他们，使他们成了服苦的人。
35And he dwelt in the mountain Hares, that is, of potsherds, in Aialon and Salebim. And the hand of the house of Joseph was heavy upon him, and he became tributary to him.
36亚摩利 人的境界，是从 亚克拉滨 坡，从 西拉 而上。
36And the border of the Amorrhite was from the ascent of the scorpion, the rock, and the higher places.
