1เมื่อเอฟราอิมพูด ผู้คนก็สั่นกลัว เขายกตนขึ้นในอิสราเอล แต่เมื่อเขามีความผิดเพราะบาอัล เขาก็ตาย
1When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he became guilty through Baal, he died.
2บัดนี้พวกเขาทำบาปมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ เอาเงินของตนหล่อเป็นรูป ทำรูปเคารพตามความเข้าใจของตน ทั้งหมดเป็นฝีมือช่าง พวกเขาพูดถึงพวกนั้นว่า ‘พวกเขาถวายมนุษย์เป็นเครื่องบูชา และจูบรูปลูกวัว’
2And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, according to their own understanding, even idols, all of them the work of the craftsmen; of them they say: 'They that sacrifice men kiss calves.'
3ดังนั้น พวกเขาจะเหมือนหมอกยามเช้า เหมือนน้ำค้างที่หายไปแต่เช้าตรู่ เหมือนแกลบที่พายุหมุนพัดออกจากลานนวดข้าว และเหมือนควันที่ออกจากปล่องไฟ
3Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the dew that early passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the wind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smoke out of the window.
4“แต่เราเป็นพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของเจ้า ตั้งแต่ครั้งอยู่ในแผ่นดินอียิปต์ เจ้าต้องไม่ยอมรับเทพเจ้าใดนอกจากเรา ไม่มีผู้ช่วยให้รอดนอกจากเรา
4Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt; and thou knowest no God but Me, and beside Me there is no saviour.
5เรารู้จักเจ้าในถิ่นกันดาร ในแผ่นดินที่แห้งแล้งอย่างยิ่ง
5I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
6พวกเขากินอิ่มตามที่ทุ่งหญ้ามีให้ เมื่ออิ่ม ใจก็หยิ่งผยอง พวกเขาจึงลืมเรา
6When they were fed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten Me.
7เพราะฉะนั้น เราเป็นเหมือนสิงโตต่อพวกเขา จะซุ่มริมทางเหมือนเสือดาว
7Therefore am I become unto them as a lion; as a leopard will I watch by the way;
8เราจะเผชิญหน้าพวกเขาเหมือนแม่หมีที่ลูกถูกพรากไป จะฉีกส่วนที่หุ้มหัวใจของพวกเขา จะกินพวกเขาที่นั่นเหมือนสิงโตตัวเมีย สัตว์ป่าจะฉีกพวกเขา
8I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the enclosure of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.
9อิสราเอล เจ้าถูกทำลายเพราะเจ้าต่อต้านเรา ต่อต้านผู้ช่วยของเจ้า
9It is thy destruction, O Israel, that thou art against Me, against thy help.
10กษัตริย์ของเจ้าที่จะช่วยเจ้าให้รอดในทุกเมือง ตอนนี้อยู่ไหน? แล้วผู้พิพากษาของเจ้าอยู่ไหน? เจ้าเคยพูดถึงพวกเขาว่า ‘ขอกษัตริย์และเจ้านายให้ฉัน’
10Ho, now, thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities! and thy judges, of whom thou saidst: 'Give me a king and princes!'
11เราให้กษัตริย์แก่เจ้าด้วยความโกรธ และเอาเขาไปด้วยความเดือดดาล
11I give thee a king in Mine anger, and take him away in My wrath.
12ความผิดของเอฟราอิมถูกเก็บสะสมไว้ บาปของเขาถูกเก็บสะสมไว้
12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is laid up in store.
13เขาจะเจ็บปวดเหมือนหญิงที่กำลังคลอดลูก เขาเป็นลูกชายที่ไร้ปัญญา เพราะเมื่อถึงเวลาคลอด เขาไม่มาถึงทางออกจากครรภ์
13The throes of a travailing woman shall come upon him; he is an unwise son; for it is time he should not tarry in the place of the breaking forth of children.
14เราจะไถ่ตัวพวกเขาจากอำนาจของเชโอล จะไถ่พวกเขาจากความตาย! ความตาย ภัยพิบัติของเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน? เชโอล การทำลายของเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน? ความสงสารจะลับไปจากสายตาเรา
14Shall I ransom them from the power of the nether-world? Shall I redeem them from death? Ho, thy plagues, O death! Ho, thy destruction, O nether-world! Repentance be hid from Mine eyes!
15แม้เขาเกิดผลมากในหมู่พี่น้อง ลมตะวันออกจะมา เป็นลมหายใจของพระยาห์เวห์ที่พัดขึ้นจากถิ่นกันดาร ตาน้ำของเขาจะเหือดแห้ง แหล่งน้ำของเขาจะแห้งไป เขาจะปล้นคลังสมบัติ
15For though he be fruitful among the reed-plants, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD coming up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up; he shall spoil the treasure of all precious vessels.
16สะมาเรียจะต้องแบกรับความผิดของเธอ เพราะเธอกบฏต่อพระเจ้าของตน พวกเขาจะล้มลงด้วยดาบ ทารกของพวกเขาจะถูกฟาดจนแหลก และหญิงมีครรภ์ของพวกเขาจะถูกผ่าท้อง”
16(14-1) Samaria shall bear her guilt, for she hath rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
