1ข้าพเจ้าอยากให้พวกคุณรู้ว่า ข้าพเจ้าต่อสู้อย่างหนักเพียงใดเพื่อพวกคุณ เพื่อคนที่เมืองเลาดีเซีย และเพื่อทุกคนที่ยังไม่เคยเห็นหน้าข้าพเจ้าในเนื้อหนัง
1For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2เพื่อหัวใจของพวกเขาจะได้รับการปลอบใจ และพวกเขาจะผูกพันกันด้วยความรัก จนได้รับความมั่งคั่งทั้งหมดจากความมั่นใจอย่างเต็มเปี่ยมที่เกิดจากความเข้าใจ เพื่อพวกเขาจะรู้จักความลับของพระเจ้า ทั้งของพระบิดาและของพระคริสต์
2That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

3In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4ข้าพเจ้ากล่าวเช่นนี้เพื่อไม่ให้ใครหลอกพวกคุณด้วยถ้อยคำที่ฟังน่าเชื่อถือ
4And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5แม้ตัวข้าพเจ้าจะไม่ได้อยู่กับพวกคุณในเนื้อหนัง แต่ข้าพเจ้าก็อยู่กับพวกคุณในจิตวิญญาณ และชื่นชมยินดีที่ได้เห็นความเป็นระเบียบของพวกคุณ และความมั่นคงแห่งความเชื่อในพระคริสต์
5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
6ดังนั้น เมื่อพวกคุณได้รับพระคริสต์เยซูองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแล้ว ก็จงดำเนินชีวิตอยู่ในพระองค์
6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7จงหยั่งรากและรับการเสริมสร้างขึ้นในพระองค์ มั่นคงในความเชื่อตามที่พวกคุณได้รับการสอน และเปี่ยมล้นด้วยการขอบคุณ
7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8จงระวัง อย่าให้ใครปล้นพวกคุณไปด้วยปรัชญาและคำหลอกลวงอันว่างเปล่า ซึ่งเป็นไปตามประเพณีของมนุษย์ ตามวิญญาณพื้นฐานของโลก และไม่ได้เป็นไปตามพระคริสต์
8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9เพราะความเต็มเปี่ยมทั้งหมดของความเป็นพระเจ้าดำรงอยู่ในพระองค์ในรูปกาย
9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10และในพระองค์พวกคุณได้รับความเต็มเปี่ยมแล้ว พระองค์เป็นศีรษะเหนือผู้ครองและผู้มีอำนาจทุกคน
10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11ในพระองค์ พวกคุณยังได้รับการเข้าสุหนัตที่ไม่ได้ทำด้วยมือ คือการถอดร่างกายแห่งบาปของเนื้อหนังออก นี่คือการเข้าสุหนัตของพระคริสต์
11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12พวกคุณถูกฝังไว้กับพระองค์ในการรับบัพติศมา และในการรับบัพติศมานั้นพวกคุณก็ฟื้นขึ้นพร้อมกับพระองค์ โดยความเชื่อในการทำงานของพระเจ้า ผู้ทำให้พระองค์ฟื้นขึ้นจากความตาย
12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13พวกคุณเคยตายเพราะการละเมิดของตน และเพราะเนื้อหนังของพวกคุณไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัต แต่พระเจ้าทำให้พวกคุณมีชีวิตขึ้นพร้อมกับพระองค์ และยกโทษการละเมิดทั้งหมดของเรา
13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14พระองค์ลบล้างเอกสารลายมือที่มีข้อกำหนดซึ่งเป็นปฏิปักษ์ต่อเรา พระองค์เอาเอกสารนั้นออกไปโดยตอกไว้ที่กางเขน
14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15พระองค์ปลดเปลื้องบรรดาผู้ครองและผู้มีอำนาจ แล้วนำพวกเขาออกมาแสดงอย่างเปิดเผย และมีชัยเหนือพวกเขาในสิ่งนั้น
15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16เพราะฉะนั้น อย่าให้ใครตัดสินพวกคุณเรื่องการกิน การดื่ม วันเทศกาล วันขึ้นหนึ่งค่ำ หรือวันสะบาโต
16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days :
17สิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นเงาของสิ่งที่จะมา แต่ร่างกายเป็นของพระคริสต์
17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18อย่าให้ใครชิงรางวัลของพวกคุณไป ด้วยการถ่อมตนอย่างจงใจและการนมัสการทูตสวรรค์ หมกมุ่นอยู่กับสิ่งที่เขาไม่ได้เห็น และทะนงตนอย่างไร้เหตุผลด้วยความคิดของเนื้อหนัง
18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19โดยไม่ได้ยึดมั่นในศีรษะ ซึ่งร่างกายทั้งหมดได้รับการหล่อเลี้ยงและเชื่อมเข้าด้วยกันทางข้อต่อและเอ็นต่าง ๆ จากพระองค์ แล้วเติบโตขึ้นตามที่พระเจ้าทำให้เติบโต
19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
20ถ้าพวกคุณตายกับพระคริสต์และพ้นจากวิญญาณพื้นฐานของโลกแล้ว ทำไมพวกคุณยังยอมอยู่ใต้ข้อกำหนดต่าง ๆ ราวกับว่ายังมีชีวิตอยู่ในโลกนี้
20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21ว่า “อย่าจับ อย่าชิม อย่าแตะต้อง”
21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22สิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งหมดเสื่อมสลายไปเมื่อใช้แล้ว และข้อกำหนดเหล่านี้ก็เป็นไปตามคำสั่งและคำสอนของมนุษย์
22Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
23สิ่งเหล่านี้ดูเหมือนมีปัญญา ด้วยการนมัสการที่กำหนดขึ้นเอง การถ่อมตน และการทำให้ร่างกายลำบาก แต่ไม่มีคุณค่าอะไรในการต่อสู้กับการปล่อยตามใจเนื้อหนัง
23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
