1เยโฮรัมบุตรอาหับเริ่มครองราชย์เหนืออิสราเอลในสะมาเรีย ในปีที่สิบแปดแห่งรัชกาลเยโฮชาฟัทกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ และครองราชย์สิบสองปี
1Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.
2เขาทำสิ่งที่ชั่วร้ายในสายพระเนตรของพระยาห์เวห์ แต่ไม่เหมือนบิดาและมารดาของเขา เพราะเขารื้อเสาบูชาบาอัลที่บิดาของเขาสร้างไว้ออกไป
2And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD ; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made.
3ถึงกระนั้น เขายังคงยึดติดกับบาปของเยโรโบอัมบุตรเนบัท ซึ่งทำให้อิสราเอลทำบาป เขาไม่ได้หันจากบาปเหล่านั้น
3Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
4เมชากษัตริย์แห่งโมอับเป็นผู้เลี้ยงแกะ เขาส่งลูกแกะหนึ่งแสนตัวและขนแกะผู้หนึ่งแสนตัวให้กษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล
4¶ And Mesha king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and rendered unto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.
5แต่เมื่ออาหับสิ้นชีวิต กษัตริย์แห่งโมอับก็กบฏต่อกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล
5But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
6ในเวลานั้นกษัตริย์เยโฮรัมออกจากสะมาเรียและรวบรวมกำลังพลอิสราเอลทั้งหมด
6¶ And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.
7เขาส่งข่าวไปหาเยโฮชาฟัทกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ว่า “กษัตริย์แห่งโมอับกบฏต่อข้าแล้ว ท่านจะไปกับข้าเพื่อรบกับโมอับหรือไม่?” เยโฮชาฟัทตอบว่า “ข้าจะไป ข้ากับท่านเป็นพวกเดียวกัน ประชาชนของข้ากับประชาชนของท่านก็เช่นกัน ม้าของข้ากับม้าของท่านก็เช่นกัน”
7And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art , my people as thy people, and my horses as thy horses.
8แล้วเยโฮชาฟัทถามว่า “เราจะขึ้นไปทางไหน?” เยโฮรัมตอบว่า “ทางถิ่นทุรกันดารแห่งเอโดม”
8And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.
9กษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลจึงไปกับกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์และกษัตริย์แห่งเอโดม พวกเขาเดินทัพอ้อมเป็นเวลาเจ็ดวัน แต่ไม่มีน้ำสำหรับกองทัพหรือสัตว์ที่ไปกับกองทัพ
9So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days’ journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.
10กษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลพูดว่า “แย่แล้ว! พระยาห์เวห์เรียกกษัตริย์ทั้งสามนี้มารวมกันเพื่อให้อยู่ในอำนาจของโมอับ”
10And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!
11แต่เยโฮชาฟัทถามว่า “ที่นี่ไม่มีผู้เผยพระวจนะของพระยาห์เวห์สักคนหรือ เพื่อเราจะได้ทูลถามพระยาห์เวห์ผ่านเขา?” ผู้รับใช้คนหนึ่งของกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลตอบว่า “เอลีชาบุตรชาฟัท ผู้เคยคอยเทน้ำล้างมือให้เอลียาห์อยู่ที่นี่”
11But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD , that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.
12เยโฮชาฟัทพูดว่า “พระดำรัสของพระยาห์เวห์อยู่กับเขา” ดังนั้นกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล เยโฮชาฟัท และกษัตริย์แห่งเอโดมจึงลงไปหาเอลีชา
12And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
13เอลีชาพูดกับกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลว่า “ข้าพเจ้าเกี่ยวอะไรกับท่าน? ไปหาพวกผู้เผยพระวจนะของบิดาท่านและพวกผู้เผยพระวจนะของมารดาท่านเถิด” กษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลตอบว่า “ไม่ เพราะพระยาห์เวห์เรียกกษัตริย์ทั้งสามนี้มารวมกันเพื่อให้อยู่ในอำนาจของโมอับ”
13And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
14เอลีชาพูดว่า “พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพผู้ทรงพระชนม์อยู่ ซึ่งข้าพเจ้ายืนอยู่ต่อหน้าพระองค์ ถ้าไม่ใช่เพราะข้าพเจ้าให้เกียรติเยโฮชาฟัทกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่มองหน้าท่านหรือเหลียวแลท่านเลย
14And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.
15แต่ตอนนี้จงนำนักดนตรีมาให้ข้าพเจ้า” เมื่อนักดนตรีบรรเลง อำนาจของพระยาห์เวห์ก็มาเหนือเอลีชา
15But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.
16เขาพูดว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า ‘จงทำให้หุบเขานี้เต็มไปด้วยร่องน้ำ’
16And he said, Thus saith the LORD , Make this valley full of ditches.
17เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า ‘พวกเจ้าจะไม่เห็นลมและจะไม่เห็นฝน แต่หุบเขานี้จะเต็มไปด้วยน้ำ พวกเจ้าจะได้ดื่ม ทั้งพวกเจ้าเอง ฝูงปศุสัตว์ และสัตว์อื่น ๆ ของพวกเจ้า
17For thus saith the LORD , Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.
18สำหรับพระยาห์เวห์แล้ว เรื่องนี้เป็นเรื่องง่าย พระองค์จะมอบชาวโมอับให้อยู่ในอำนาจของพวกท่านด้วย
18And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD : he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.
19พวกท่านจะโจมตีเมืองที่มีป้อมปราการทุกเมืองและเมืองชั้นดีทุกแห่ง โค่นต้นไม้ดีทุกต้น อุดตาน้ำทุกแห่ง และทำลายที่ดินดีทุกแปลงด้วยก้อนหิน’”
19And ye shall smite every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.
20ในตอนเช้า ประมาณเวลาถวายเครื่องบูชา ดูสิ น้ำไหลมาจากทางเอโดม และแผ่นดินแถบนั้นก็เต็มไปด้วยน้ำ
20And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
21เมื่อชาวโมอับทั้งหมดได้ยินว่ากษัตริย์ทั้งหลายยกทัพมารบกับพวกเขา พวกเขาก็รวมตัวกัน ทุกคนที่สามารถสวมเกราะออกรบได้ ตั้งแต่คนหนุ่มจนถึงคนแก่ และยืนประจำอยู่ที่ชายแดน
21¶ And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and upward, and stood in the border.
22พวกเขาลุกขึ้นแต่เช้า แสงอาทิตย์ส่องบนผิวน้ำ และชาวโมอับที่อยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามเห็นน้ำนั้นแดงเหมือนเลือด
22And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:
23พวกเขาพูดว่า “นี่คือเลือด! กษัตริย์เหล่านั้นคงถูกทำลายแล้ว และพวกเขาคงฆ่าฟันกันเอง ตอนนี้ชาวโมอับเอ๋ย ไปเอาของปล้นกันเถิด!”
23And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.
24เมื่อพวกเขามาถึงค่ายอิสราเอล ชาวอิสราเอลก็ลุกขึ้นโจมตีชาวโมอับจนพวกเขาหนีไป ชาวอิสราเอลรุกเข้าไปในแผ่นดินและโจมตีชาวโมอับต่อไป
24And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country.
25พวกเขาทำลายเมืองต่าง ๆ และแต่ละคนโยนก้อนหินลงในที่ดินดีทุกแปลงจนเต็ม พวกเขายังอุดตาน้ำทุกแห่งและโค่นต้นไม้ดีทั้งหมด จนในคีร์ฮาเรเชทเหลือเพียงก้อนหิน แต่พวกนักเหวี่ยงหินยังเข้าโอบรอบและโจมตีเมืองนั้น
25And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kir-haraseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it , and smote it.
26เมื่อกษัตริย์แห่งโมอับเห็นว่าการรบรุนแรงเกินกำลัง เขาจึงนำทหารถือดาบเจ็ดร้อยคนพยายามตีฝ่าไปยังกษัตริย์แห่งเอโดม แต่ทำไม่สำเร็จ
26¶ And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.
27แล้วเขานำบุตรชายคนโตซึ่งจะขึ้นครองราชย์แทน มาถวายเป็นเครื่องเผาบูชาบนกำแพงเมือง เกิดความโกรธแค้นอย่างรุนแรงต่ออิสราเอล พวกเขาจึงถอนทัพออกจากเขาและกลับไปยังแผ่นดินของตน
27Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
