1เมื่ออำนาจของเรโหโบอัมมั่นคงแล้ว เขาทอดทิ้งกฎหมายของพระยาห์เวห์ และชาวอิสราเอลทั้งหมดก็ทำตาม
1And it came to pass, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

2And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had dealt treacherously with the LORD,

3with twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
4เขายึดเมืองป้อมปราการของยูดาห์ แล้วมาถึงเยรูซาเล็ม
4And he took the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and came unto Jerusalem.
5เชมายาห์ผู้เผยพระวจนะมาเฝ้าเรโหโบอัมกับผู้นำยูดาห์ที่มารวมตัวกันในเยรูซาเล็มเพราะชิชัก แล้วกล่าวว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า ‘พวกเจ้าทอดทิ้งเรา เราจึงปล่อยให้ชิชักมีอำนาจเหนือพวกเจ้า’”
5Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them: 'Thus saith the LORD: Ye have forsaken Me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.'
6ผู้นำอิสราเอลกับกษัตริย์จึงถ่อมตนและยอมรับว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ทรงเที่ยงธรรม”
6Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said: 'The LORD is righteous.'
7พระยาห์เวห์ทรงเห็นว่าพวกเขาถ่อมตน จึงตรัสกับเชมายาห์ว่า “พวกเขาถ่อมตนแล้ว เราจะไม่ทำลายพวกเขา แต่เราจะช่วยให้พวกเขารอดพ้นได้บ้าง และจะไม่ใช้ชิชักระบายความโกรธของเราต่อเยรูซาเล็ม
7And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying: 'They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and My wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8ถึงอย่างนั้น พวกเขาจะต้องรับใช้เขา เพื่อพวกเขาจะได้รู้จักทั้งการรับใช้เราและการรับใช้อาณาจักรต่างแดน”
8Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know My service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.'

9So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all away; he took away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10กษัตริย์เรโหโบอัมทำโล่ทองสัมฤทธิ์ขึ้นแทน แล้วมอบให้ผู้บังคับบัญชาทหารรักษาการณ์ที่เฝ้าประตูวัง
10And king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, that kept the door of the king's house.
11ทุกครั้งที่กษัตริย์เสด็จเข้าพระวิหารของพระยาห์เวห์ ทหารรักษาการณ์จะมาถือโล่ แล้วนำกลับไปเก็บในห้องของตน
11And it was so, that as oft as the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.
12เมื่อเรโหโบอัมถ่อมตน พระพิโรธของพระยาห์เวห์ก็หันไปจากเขา พระองค์จึงไม่ทรงทำลายเขาจนสิ้น อีกทั้งยังมีสิ่งดีบางอย่างในยูดาห์
12And when he humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned from him, that He would not destroy him altogether; and moreover in Judah there were good things found.
13กษัตริย์เรโหโบอัมตั้งมั่นและครองราชย์ในเยรูซาเล็ม เขาขึ้นครองราชย์เมื่ออายุ 41 ปี และครองราชย์ 17 ปีในเยรูซาเล็ม เมืองที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงเลือกจากทุกเผ่าของอิสราเอลให้เป็นที่ตั้งพระนามของพระองค์ มารดาของเขาชื่อนาอามาห์ เป็นชาวอัมโมน
13So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there; and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
14เขาทำสิ่งชั่วร้าย เพราะไม่ได้ตั้งใจแสวงหาพระยาห์เวห์
14And he did that which was evil, because he set not his heart to seek the LORD.
15เรื่องราวของเรโหโบอัมตั้งแต่ต้นจนจบมีบันทึกไว้ในประวัติของเชมายาห์ผู้เผยพระวจนะและอิดโดผู้หยั่งรู้ ซึ่งอยู่ในบันทึกลำดับวงศ์ตระกูล มิใช่หรือ เรโหโบอัมกับเยโรโบอัมทำสงครามกันอยู่เสมอ
15Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16เรโหโบอัมสิ้นชีวิตและถูกฝังในนครดาวิด อาบียาห์บุตรชายขึ้นครองราชย์แทน
16And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David; and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
