1โซโลมอนตัดสินใจสร้างพระวิหารเพื่อพระนามของพระยาห์เวห์ และสร้างวังสำหรับปกครองราชอาณาจักรของตน
1(1-18) Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the name of the LORD, and a house for his kingdom.
2เขาคัดคนหาบหาม 70,000 คน ช่างสกัดหินบนภูเขา 80,000 คน และผู้คุมงาน 3,600 คน
2(2-1) And Solomon counted out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand men that were hewers in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.
3โซโลมอนส่งสารถึงฮูรามกษัตริย์เมืองไทระว่า “ท่านเคยส่งไม้ซีดาร์ให้ดาวิดบิดาของข้าเพื่อสร้างวังเป็นที่อยู่อาศัย ขอให้ท่านช่วยข้าเช่นเดียวกัน
3(2-2) And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying: 'As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him a house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.
4บัดนี้ ข้ากำลังจะสร้างพระวิหารเพื่อพระนามของพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของข้า และจะถวายอาคารนี้แด่พระองค์ เพื่อเผาเครื่องหอมที่มีกลิ่นหอมต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ จัดขนมปังถวายไว้เป็นประจำ และถวายเครื่องบูชาเผาทั้งตัวทั้งเช้าและเย็น ในวันสะบาโต วันขึ้นเดือนใหม่ และเทศกาลที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเราทรงกำหนดไว้ ข้อกำหนดนี้ให้อิสราเอลถือปฏิบัติตลอดไป
4(2-3) Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to Him, and to burn before Him incense of sweet spices, and for the continual showbread, and for the burnt-offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the appointed seasons of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.
5“พระวิหารที่ข้าจะสร้างต้องใหญ่โต เพราะพระเจ้าของเราทรงยิ่งใหญ่กว่าเทพเจ้าทั้งปวง
5(2-4) And the house which I build is great; for great is our God above all gods.
6แต่ใครจะสร้างที่ประทับให้พระองค์ได้ ในเมื่อแม้สวรรค์และสวรรค์ชั้นสูงสุดยังรองรับพระองค์ไม่ได้ ข้าเป็นใครเล่าจึงจะสร้างที่ประทับถวายพระองค์ได้ ที่ข้าจะสร้างก็เพื่อเผาเครื่องหอมต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์เท่านั้น
6(2-5) But who is able to build Him a house, seeing the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? who am I then, that I should build Him a house, save only to offer before Him?
7“ขอส่งช่างฝีมือที่ทำงานทองคำ เงิน ทองสัมฤทธิ์ เหล็ก และผ้าสีม่วง สีแดงเข้ม สีฟ้าได้ ทั้งชำนาญงานแกะสลัก ให้มาร่วมงานกับช่างฝีมือในยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็มที่ดาวิดบิดาของข้าเตรียมไว้
7(2-6) Now therefore send me a man skilful to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that hath skill to grave all manner of gravings, to be with the skilful men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
8“ขอส่งไม้ซีดาร์ ไม้สนไซเปรส และไม้อัลกัมจากเลบานอนมาให้ข้าด้วย ข้ารู้ว่าคนของท่านชำนาญการตัดไม้ที่เลบานอน คนของข้าจะไปช่วยพวกเขา
8(2-7) Send me also cedar-trees, cypress-trees, and sandal-wood, out of Lebanon; for I know that thy servants have skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,
9เพื่อจัดหาไม้ให้ได้มากพอสำหรับพระวิหารอันใหญ่โตและงดงามที่ข้ากำลังจะสร้าง
9(2-8) even to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.
10ส่วนค่าจ้างคนของท่านที่ตัดไม้ ข้าจะให้ข้าวสาลีที่นวดแล้ว 20,000 โคร์ ข้าวบาร์เลย์ 20,000 บัท เหล้าองุ่น 20,000 บัท และน้ำมัน 20,000 บัท”
10(2-9) And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.'
11ฮูรามกษัตริย์เมืองไทระส่งคำตอบเป็นลายลักษณ์อักษรถึงโซโลมอนว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ทรงรักประชาชนของพระองค์ จึงทรงตั้งท่านเป็นกษัตริย์ปกครองพวกเขา”
11(2-10) Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon: 'Because the LORD loveth His people, He hath made thee king over them.'
12ฮูรามกล่าวต่อว่า “ขอให้พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ผู้ทรงสร้างฟ้าและแผ่นดิน ทรงเป็นที่สรรเสริญ พระองค์ประทานบุตรชายที่มีสติปัญญา รู้จักคิดและเข้าใจสิ่งต่าง ๆ แก่กษัตริย์ดาวิด เพื่อเขาจะสร้างพระวิหารถวายพระยาห์เวห์และสร้างวังสำหรับปกครองราชอาณาจักรของตน
12(2-11) Huram said moreover: 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for the LORD, and a house for his kingdom.
13ข้าส่งช่างฝีมือผู้มีความรู้ความเข้าใจชื่อฮูรามอาบี มาแล้ว
13(2-12) And now I have sent a skilful man, endued with understanding, even Huram my master craftsman,
14มารดาของเขาเป็นหญิงชาวดาน ส่วนบิดาเป็นชาวเมืองไทระ เขาชำนาญงานทองคำ เงิน ทองสัมฤทธิ์ เหล็ก หิน ไม้ ผ้าสีม่วง สีฟ้า ผ้าลินินเนื้อละเอียด และผ้าสีแดงเข้ม อีกทั้งแกะสลักและออกแบบลวดลายทุกชนิด ขอให้จัดที่ให้เขาทำงานร่วมกับช่างฝีมือของท่าน และช่างฝีมือของดาวิดผู้เป็นบิดาของท่านและเจ้านายของข้า
14(2-13) the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to devise any device; to do whatever may be set before him, with thy skilful men, and with the skilful men of my lord David thy father.
15“บัดนี้ขอให้ท่านส่งข้าวสาลี ข้าวบาร์เลย์ น้ำมัน และเหล้าองุ่นที่ท่านกล่าวถึงมาให้คนของข้า
15(2-14) Now therefore the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants;
16เราจะตัดไม้จากเลบานอนให้มากเท่าที่ท่านต้องการ แล้วล่องแพไม้ไปตามทะเลถึงเมืองยัฟฟา จากนั้นท่านจึงขนขึ้นไปเยรูซาเล็ม”
16(2-15) and we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need; and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.'
17โซโลมอนสำรวจนับชาวต่างชาติทั้งหมดที่อาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินอิสราเอล หลังจากที่ดาวิดบิดาของเขาเคยสำรวจนับไว้ พบ 153,600 คน
17(2-16) And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found a hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.
18เขาให้คนในกลุ่มนี้ 70,000 คนทำงานหาบหาม 80,000 คนสกัดหินบนภูเขา และ 3,600 คนคุมงานและมอบหมายหน้าที่แก่คนงาน
18(2-17) And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people at work.
