1羅波安 的國堅立，他強盛的時候就離棄耶和華的律法， 以色列 人也都隨從他。
1And it came to pass, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.
2羅波安 王第五年， 埃及 王 示撒 上來攻打 耶路撒冷 ，因為王和民得罪了耶和華。
2And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had dealt treacherously with the LORD,
3示撒 帶戰車一千二百輛，馬兵六萬，並且跟從他出 埃及 的 路比 人、 蘇基 人，和 古實 人，多得不可勝數。
3with twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
4他攻取了 猶大 的堅固城，就來到 耶路撒冷 。
4And he took the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and came unto Jerusalem.
5那時， 猶大 的首領因為 示撒 就聚集在 耶路撒冷 。有先知 示瑪雅 去見 羅波安 和眾首領，對他們說：「耶和華如此說：『你們離棄了我，所以我使你們落在 示撒 手裏。』」
5Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them: 'Thus saith the LORD: Ye have forsaken Me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.'
6於是王和 以色列 的眾首領都自卑說：「耶和華是公義的。」
6Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said: 'The LORD is righteous.'
7耶和華見他們自卑，耶和華的話就臨到 示瑪雅 說：「他們既自卑，我必不滅絕他們；必使他們略得拯救，我不藉着 示撒 的手將我的怒氣倒在 耶路撒冷 。
7And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying: 'They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and My wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8然而他們必作 示撒 的僕人，好叫他們知道，服事我與服事外邦人有何分別。」
8Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know My service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.'
9於是， 埃及 王 示撒 上來攻取 耶路撒冷 ，奪了耶和華殿和王宮裏的寶物，盡都帶走，又奪去 所羅門 製造的金盾牌。
9So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all away; he took away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10羅波安 王製造銅盾牌代替那金盾牌，交給守王宮門的護衛長看守。
10And king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, that kept the door of the king's house.
11王每逢進耶和華的殿，護衛兵就拿這盾牌，隨後仍將盾牌送回，放在護衛房。
11And it was so, that as oft as the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.
12王自卑的時候，耶和華的怒氣就轉消了，不將他滅盡，並且在 猶大 中間也有善益的事。
12And when he humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned from him, that He would not destroy him altogether; and moreover in Judah there were good things found.
13羅波安 王自強，在 耶路撒冷 作王。他登基的時候年四十一歲，在 耶路撒冷 ，就是耶和華從 以色列 眾支派中所選擇立他名的城，作王十七年。 羅波安 的母親名叫 拿瑪 ，是 亞捫 人。
13So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there; and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
14羅波安 行惡，因他不立定心意尋求耶和華。
14And he did that which was evil, because he set not his heart to seek the LORD.
15羅波安 所行的事，自始至終不都寫在先知 示瑪雅 和先見 易多 的史記上嗎？ 羅波安 與 耶羅波安 時常爭戰。
15Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16羅波安 與他列祖同睡，葬在 大衛城 裏。他兒子 亞比雅 接續他作王。
16And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David; and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
