1亞瑪謝 登基的時候年二十五歲，在 耶路撒冷 作王二十九年。他母親名叫 約耶但 ，是 耶路撒冷 人。
1Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
2亞瑪謝 行耶和華眼中看為正的事，只是心不專誠。
2And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not with a whole heart.
3國一堅定，就把殺他父王的臣僕殺了，
3Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants who had killed the king his father.
4卻沒有治死他們的兒子，是照 摩西 律法書上耶和華所吩咐的說：「不可因子殺父，也不可因父殺子，各人要為本身的罪而死。」
4But he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying: 'The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.'
5亞瑪謝 招聚 猶大 人，按着 猶大 和 便雅憫 的宗族設立千夫長、百夫長，又數點人數，從二十歲以外，能拿槍拿盾牌出去打仗的精兵共有三十萬；
5Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and ordered them according to their fathers' houses, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, even all Judah and Benjamin; and he numbered them from twenty years old and upward, and found them three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
6又用銀子一百他連得，從 以色列 招募了十萬大能的勇士。
6He hired also a hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
7有一個神人來見 亞瑪謝 ，對他說：「王啊，不要使 以色列 的軍兵與你同去，因為耶和華不與 以色列 人 以法蓮 的後裔同在。
7But there came a man of God to him, saying: 'O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, even with all the children of Ephraim.
8你若一定要去，就奮勇爭戰吧！但上帝必使你敗在敵人面前；因為上帝能助人得勝，也能使人傾敗。」
8But if thou wilt go, and do engage never so valiantly in battle, God will cast thee down before the enemy; for God hath power to help, and to cast down.'
9亞瑪謝 問神人說：「我給了 以色列 軍的那一百他連得銀子怎麼樣呢？」神人回答說：「耶和華能把更多的賜給你。」
9And Amaziah said to the man of God: 'But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?' And the man of God answered: 'The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.'
10於是 亞瑪謝 將那從 以法蓮 來的軍兵分別出來，叫他們回家去。故此，他們甚惱怒 猶大 人，氣忿忿地回家去了。
10Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go back home; wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in fierce anger.
11亞瑪謝 壯起膽來，率領他的民到 鹽谷 ，殺了 西珥 人一萬。
11And Amaziah took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
12猶大 人又生擒了一萬帶到山崖上，從那裏把他們扔下去，以致他們都摔碎了。
12And other ten thousand did the children of Judah carry away alive, and brought them unto the top of the Rock, and cast them down from the top of the Rock, that they all were broken in pieces.
13但 亞瑪謝 所打發回去、不許一同出征的那些軍兵攻打 猶大 各城，從 撒馬利亞 直到 伯‧和崙 ，殺了三千人，搶了許多財物。
13But the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote of them three thousand, and took much spoil.
14亞瑪謝 殺了 以東 人回來，就把 西珥 的神像帶回，立為自己的神，在它面前叩拜燒香。
14Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and prostrated himself before them, and offered unto them.
15因此，耶和華的怒氣向 亞瑪謝 發作，就差一個先知去見他，說：「這些神不能救它的民脫離你的手，你為何尋求它呢？」
15Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and He sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him: 'Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?'
16先知與王說話的時候，王對他說：「誰立你作王的謀士呢？你住口吧！為何找打呢？」先知就止住了，又說：「你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒，我知道上帝定意要滅你。」
16And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him: 'Have we made thee of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten?' Then the prophet forbore, and said: 'I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.'
17猶大 王 亞瑪謝 與群臣 商議，就差遣使者去見 耶戶 的孫子、 約哈斯 的兒子、 以色列 王 約阿施 ，說：「你來，我們二人相見 於戰場 。」
17Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying: 'Come, let us look one another in the face.'
18以色列 王 約阿施 差遣使者去見 猶大 王 亞瑪謝 ，說：「 黎巴嫩 的蒺藜差遣使者去見 黎巴嫩 的香柏樹，說：『將你的女兒給我兒子為妻。』後來 黎巴嫩 有一個野獸經過，把蒺藜踐踏了。
18And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying: 'The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying: Give thy daughter to my son to wife; and there passed by the wild beasts that were in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.
19你說：『看哪，我打敗了 以東 人』，你就心高氣傲，以致矜誇。你在家裏安居就罷了，為何要惹禍使自己和 猶大 國一同敗亡呢？」
19Thou sayest — lo, thou hast smitten Edom; will thy heart therefore lift thee up to glory therein? abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle with evil, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?'
20亞瑪謝 卻不肯聽從。這是出乎上帝，好將他們交在 敵人 手裏，因為他們尋求 以東 的神。
20But Amaziah would not hear; for it was of God, that He might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they had sought after the gods of Edom.
21於是 以色列 王 約阿施 上來，在 猶大 的 伯‧示麥 與 猶大 王 亞瑪謝 相見 於戰場 。
21So Joash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
22猶大 人敗在 以色列 人面前，各自逃回家裏去了。
22And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.
23以色列 王 約阿施 在 伯‧示麥 擒住 約哈斯 的孫子、 約阿施 的兒子、 猶大 王 亞瑪謝 ，將他帶到 耶路撒冷 ，又拆毀 耶路撒冷 的城牆，從 以法蓮門 直到 角門 ，共四百肘；
23And Joash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
24又將 俄別‧以東 所看守上帝殿裏的一切金銀和器皿，與王宮裏的財寶都拿了去，並帶人去為質，就回 撒馬利亞 去了。
24And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
25以色列 王 約哈斯 的兒子 約阿施 死後， 猶大 王 約阿施 的兒子 亞瑪謝 又活了十五年。
25And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
26亞瑪謝 其餘的事，自始至終不都寫在 猶大 和 以色列 諸王記上嗎？
26Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
27自從 亞瑪謝 離棄耶和華之後，在 耶路撒冷 有人背叛他，他就逃到 拉吉 ；叛黨卻打發人到 拉吉 ，將他殺了。
27Now from the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
28人就用馬將他的屍首馱回，葬在 猶大 京 城他列祖的墳地裏。
28And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
