1亞比雅 與他列祖同睡，葬在 大衛城 裏。他兒子 亞撒 接續他作王。 亞撒 年間，國中太平十年。
1(13-23) So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa his son reigned in his stead; in his days the land was quiet ten years.
2亞撒 行耶和華－他上帝眼中看為善為正的事，
2(14-1) And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God;
3除掉外邦神的壇和邱壇，打碎柱像，砍下木偶，
3(14-2) for he took away the strange altars, and the high places, and broke down the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim;
4吩咐 猶大 人尋求耶和華－他們列祖的上帝，遵行他的律法、誡命；
4(14-3) and commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
5又在 猶大 各城邑除掉邱壇和日像，那時國享太平；
5(14-4) Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun-images; and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6又在 猶大 建造了幾座堅固城。國中太平數年，沒有戰爭，因為耶和華賜他平安。
6(14-5) And he built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.
7他對 猶大 人說：「我們要建造這些城邑，四圍築牆，蓋樓，安門，做閂；地還屬我們，是因尋求耶和華－我們的上帝；我們既尋求他，他就賜我們四境平安。」於是建造城邑，諸事亨通。
7(14-6) For he said unto Judah: 'Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars; the land is yet before us, because we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He hath given us rest on every side.' So they built and prospered.
8亞撒 的軍兵，出自 猶大 拿盾牌拿槍的三十萬人；出自 便雅憫 拿盾牌拉弓的二十八萬人。這都是大能的勇士。
8(14-7) And Asa had an army that bore bucklers and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand; all these were mighty men of valour.
9有 古實 王 謝拉 率領軍兵一百萬，戰車三百輛，出來攻擊 猶大 人，到了 瑪利沙 。
9(14-8) And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and he came unto Mareshah.
10於是 亞撒 出去與他迎敵，就在 瑪利沙 的 洗法谷 彼此擺陣。
10(14-9) Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephath at Mareshah.
11亞撒 呼求耶和華－他的上帝說：「耶和華啊，惟有你能幫助軟弱的，勝過強盛的。耶和華－我們的上帝啊，求你幫助我們；因為我們仰賴你，奉你的名來攻擊這大軍。耶和華啊，你是我們的上帝，不要容人勝過你。」
11(14-10) And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said: 'LORD, there is none beside Thee to help, between the mighty and him that hath no strength; help us, O LORD our God; for we rely on Thee, and in Thy name are we come against this multitude. Thou art the LORD our God; let not man prevail against Thee.'
12於是耶和華使 古實 人敗在 亞撒 和 猶大 人面前， 古實 人就逃跑了；
12(14-11) So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13亞撒 和跟隨他的軍兵追趕他們，直到 基拉耳 。 古實 人被殺的甚多，不能再強盛，因為敗在耶和華與他軍兵面前。 猶大 人就奪了許多財物，
13(14-12) And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar; and there fell of the Ethiopians so that none remained alive; for they were shattered before the LORD, and before His host; and they carried away very much booty.
14又打破 基拉耳 四圍的城邑；耶和華使其中的人都甚恐懼。 猶大 人又將所有的城擄掠一空，因其中的財物甚多，
14(14-13) And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for a terror from the LORD came upon them; and they spoiled all the cities; for there was much spoil in them.
15又毀壞了群畜的圈，奪取許多的羊和駱駝，就回 耶路撒冷 去了。
15(14-14) They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep in abundance and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
