1耶羅波安 王十八年， 亞比雅 登基作 猶大 王，
1In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
2在 耶路撒冷 作王三年。他母親名叫 米該亞 ，是 基比亞 人 烏列 的女兒。 亞比雅 常與 耶羅波安 爭戰。
2Three years reigned he in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
3有一次 亞比雅 率領挑選的兵四十萬擺陣，都是勇敢的戰士； 耶羅波安 也挑選大能的勇士八十萬，對 亞比雅 擺陣。
3And Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men; and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valour.
4亞比雅 站在 以法蓮 山地中的 洗瑪臉山 上，說：「 耶羅波安 和 以色列 眾人哪，要聽我說！
4And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill-country of Ephraim, and said: 'Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel;
5耶和華－ 以色列 的上帝曾立鹽約，將 以色列 國永遠賜給 大衛 和他的子孫，你們不知道嗎？
5ought ye not to know that the LORD, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
6無奈 大衛 兒子 所羅門 的臣僕、 尼八 兒子 耶羅波安 起來背叛他的主人。
6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.
7有些無賴的匪徒聚集跟從他，逞強攻擊 所羅門 的兒子 羅波安 ；那時 羅波安 還幼弱，不能抵擋他們。
7And there were gathered unto him vain men, base fellows that strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and faint-hearted, and could not withstand them.
8「現在你們有意抗拒 大衛 子孫手下所治耶和華的國，你們的人也甚多，你們那裏又有 耶羅波安 為你們所造當作神的金牛犢。
8And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.
9你們不是驅逐耶和華的祭司 亞倫 的後裔和 利未 人嗎？不是照着外邦人的惡俗為自己立祭司嗎？無論何人牽一隻公牛犢、七隻公綿羊將自己分別出來，就可作虛無之神的祭司。
9Have ye not driven out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the peoples of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same becometh a priest of them that are no gods.
10至於我們，耶和華是我們的上帝，我們並沒有離棄他。我們有事奉耶和華的祭司，都是 亞倫 的後裔，並有 利未 人各盡其職，
10But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken Him; and we have priests ministering unto the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work;
11每日早晚向耶和華獻燔祭，燒美香，又在精 金 的桌子上擺陳設餅；又有金燈臺和燈盞，每晚點起，因為我們遵守耶和華－我們上帝的命；惟有你們離棄了他。
11and they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt-offerings and sweet incense; the showbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening; for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken Him.
12率領我們的是上帝，我們這裏也有上帝的祭司拿號向你們吹出大聲。 以色列 人哪，不要與耶和華－你們列祖的上帝爭戰，因你們必不能亨通。」
12And, behold, God is with us at our head, and His priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD, the God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.'
13耶羅波安 卻在 猶大 人的後頭設伏兵。這樣， 以色列 人在 猶大 人的前頭，伏兵在 猶大 人的後頭。
13But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them; so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.
14猶大 人回頭觀看，見前後都有敵兵，就呼求耶和華，祭司也吹號。
14And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
15於是 猶大 人吶喊； 猶大 人吶喊的時候，上帝就使 耶羅波安 和 以色列 眾人敗在 亞比雅 與 猶大 人面前。
15Then the men of Judah gave a shout; and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
16以色列 人在 猶大 人面前逃跑，上帝將他們交在 猶大 人手裏。
16And the children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.
17亞比雅 和他的軍兵大大殺戮 以色列 人， 以色列 人仆倒死亡的精兵有五十萬。
17And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter; so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
18那時， 以色列 人被制伏了， 猶大 人得勝，是因倚靠耶和華－他們列祖的上帝。
18Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD, the God of their fathers.
19亞比雅 追趕 耶羅波安 ，攻取了他的幾座城，就是 伯特利 和屬 伯特利 的鎮市， 耶沙拿 和屬 耶沙拿 的鎮市， 以法拉音 和屬 以法拉音 的鎮市。
19And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof.
20亞比雅 在世的時候， 耶羅波安 不能再強盛；耶和華攻擊他，他就死了。
20Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah; and the LORD smote him, and he died.
21亞比雅 卻漸漸強盛，娶妻妾十四個，生了二十二個兒子，十六個女兒。
21But Abijah waxed mighty, and took unto himself fourteen wives, and begot twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.
22亞比雅 其餘的事和他的言行都寫在先知 易多 的傳上。
22And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
