1亚比雅 与他列祖同睡，葬在 大卫城 里。他儿子 亚撒 接续他作王。 亚撒 年间，国中太平十年。
1(13-23) So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa his son reigned in his stead; in his days the land was quiet ten years.
2亚撒 行耶和华—他 神眼中看为善为正的事，
2(14-1) And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God;
3除掉外邦神的坛和邱坛，打碎柱像，砍下木偶，
3(14-2) for he took away the strange altars, and the high places, and broke down the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim;
4吩咐 犹大 人寻求耶和华—他们列祖的 神，遵行他的律法、诫命；
4(14-3) and commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
5又在 犹大 各城邑除掉邱坛和日像，那时国享太平；
5(14-4) Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun-images; and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6又在 犹大 建造了几座坚固城。国中太平数年，没有战争，因为耶和华赐他平安。
6(14-5) And he built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.
7他对 犹大 人说：「我们要建造这些城邑，四围筑墙，盖楼，安门，做闩；地还属我们，是因寻求耶和华—我们的 神；我们既寻求他，他就赐我们四境平安。」于是建造城邑，诸事亨通。
7(14-6) For he said unto Judah: 'Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars; the land is yet before us, because we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He hath given us rest on every side.' So they built and prospered.
8亚撒 的军兵，出自 犹大 拿盾牌拿枪的三十万人；出自 便雅悯 拿盾牌拉弓的二十八万人。这都是大能的勇士。
8(14-7) And Asa had an army that bore bucklers and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand; all these were mighty men of valour.
9有 古实 王 谢拉 率领军兵一百万，战车三百辆，出来攻击 犹大 人，到了 玛利沙 。
9(14-8) And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and he came unto Mareshah.
10于是 亚撒 出去与他迎敌，就在 玛利沙 的 洗法谷 彼此摆阵。
10(14-9) Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephath at Mareshah.
11亚撒 呼求耶和华—他的 神说：「耶和华啊，惟有你能帮助软弱的，胜过强盛的。耶和华—我们的 神啊，求你帮助我们；因为我们仰赖你，奉你的名来攻击这大军。耶和华啊，你是我们的 神，不要容人胜过你。」
11(14-10) And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said: 'LORD, there is none beside Thee to help, between the mighty and him that hath no strength; help us, O LORD our God; for we rely on Thee, and in Thy name are we come against this multitude. Thou art the LORD our God; let not man prevail against Thee.'
12于是耶和华使 古实 人败在 亚撒 和 犹大 人面前， 古实 人就逃跑了；
12(14-11) So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13亚撒 和跟随他的军兵追赶他们，直到 基拉耳 。 古实 人被杀的甚多，不能再强盛，因为败在耶和华与他军兵面前。 犹大 人就夺了许多财物，
13(14-12) And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar; and there fell of the Ethiopians so that none remained alive; for they were shattered before the LORD, and before His host; and they carried away very much booty.
14又打破 基拉耳 四围的城邑；耶和华使其中的人都甚恐惧。 犹大 人又将所有的城掳掠一空，因其中的财物甚多，
14(14-13) And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for a terror from the LORD came upon them; and they spoiled all the cities; for there was much spoil in them.
15又毁坏了群畜的圈，夺取许多的羊和骆驼，就回 耶路撒冷 去了。
15(14-14) They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep in abundance and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
