1罗波安 来到 耶路撒冷 ，招聚 犹大 家和 便雅悯 家，共十八万人，都是挑选的战士，要与 以色列 人争战，好将国夺回再归自己。
1And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, that were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom back to Rehoboam.
2但耶和华的话临到神人 示玛雅 说：
2But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying:
3「你去告诉 所罗门 的儿子 犹大 王 罗波安 和住 犹大 、 便雅悯 的 以色列 众人说，
3'Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying:
4耶和华如此说：『你们不可上去与你们的弟兄争战，各归各家去吧！因为这事出于我。』」众人就听从耶和华的话归回，不去与 耶罗波安 争战。
4Thus saith the LORD: Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren; return every man to his house, for this thing is of Me.' So they hearkened unto the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5罗波安 住在 耶路撒冷 ，在 犹大 地修筑城邑，
5And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.
6为保障修筑 伯利恒 、 以坦 、 提哥亚 、
6He built even Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7伯·夙 、 梭哥 、 亚杜兰 、
7and Beth-zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
8迦特 、 玛利沙 、 西弗 、
8and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9亚多莱音 、 拉吉 、 亚西加 、
9and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10琐拉 、 亚雅 、 希伯 。这都是 犹大 和 便雅悯 的坚固城。
10and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
11罗波安 又坚固各处的保障，在其中安置军长，又预备下粮食、油、酒。
11And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and oil and wine.
12他在各城里 预备 盾牌和枪，且使城极其坚固。 犹大 和 便雅悯 都归了他。
12And in every city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. And Judah and Benjamin adhered to him.
13以色列 全地的祭司和 利未 人都从四方来归 罗波安 。
13And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel presented themselves to him out of all their border.
14利未 人撇下他们的郊野和产业，来到 犹大 与 耶路撒 冷 ，是因 耶罗波安 和他的儿子拒绝他们，不许他们供祭司职分事奉耶和华。
14For the Levites left their open land and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem; for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office unto the LORD;
15耶罗波安 为邱坛、为鬼魔、为自己所铸造的牛犊设立祭司。
15and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the satyrs, and for the calves which he had made.
16以色列 各支派中，凡立定心意寻求耶和华— 以色列 神的，都随从 利未 人，来到 耶路撒冷 祭祀耶和华—他们列祖的 神。
16And after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek the LORD, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice unto the LORD, the God of their fathers.
17这样，就坚固 犹大 国，使 所罗门 的儿子 罗波安 强盛三年，因为他们三年遵行 大卫 和 所罗门 的道。
17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.
18罗波安 娶 大卫 儿子 耶利摩 的女儿 玛哈拉 为妻，又娶 耶西 儿子 以利押 的女儿 亚比孩 为妻。
18And Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19从她生了几个儿子，就是 耶乌施 、 示玛利雅 、 撒罕 。
19and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
20后来又娶 押沙龙 的女儿 玛迦 ，从她生了 亚比雅 、 亚太 、 细撒 、 示罗密 。
20And after her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21罗波安 娶十八个妻，立六十个妾，生二十八个儿子，六十个女儿；他却爱 押沙龙 的女儿 玛迦 ，比爱别的妻妾更甚。
21And Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines — for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines, and begot twenty and eight sons and threescore daughters.
22罗波安 立 玛迦 的儿子 亚比雅 作太子，在他弟兄中为首，因为 想要 立他接续作王。
22And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, even the prince among his brethren; for he was minded to make him king.
23罗波安 办事精明，使他众子分散在 犹大 和 便雅悯 全地各坚固城里，又赐他们许多粮食， 为他们 多寻妻子。
23And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fortified city; and he gave them victual in abundance. And he sought for them many wives.
