1Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
1ฮีราม กษัตริย์เมืองไทระ ส่งทูตมาหาดาวิด พร้อมไม้สนซีดาร์ ช่างก่อหิน และช่างไม้ เพื่อสร้างวังให้ดาวิด
2And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
2ดาวิดตระหนักว่าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงตั้งเขาเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล และทรงยกอาณาจักรของเขาขึ้นอย่างสูงเพื่อประโยชน์แก่ชาวอิสราเอลซึ่งเป็นประชาชนของพระองค์
3¶ And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.
3ดาวิดรับภรรยาเพิ่มในเยรูซาเล็ม และมีบุตรชายหญิงเพิ่มขึ้น
4Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
4บุตรที่เกิดแก่เขาในเยรูซาเล็มมีชื่อดังนี้ ชัมมูอา โชบับ นาธาน โซโลมอน
5And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
5อิบฮาร์ เอลีชูอา เอลเปเลท
6And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
6โนกาห์ เนเฟก ยาเฟีย
7And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
7เอลีชามา เบเอลียาดา และเอลีเฟเลท
8¶ And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it , and went out against them.
8เมื่อชาวฟีลิสเตียได้ข่าวเรื่องการเจิมดาวิดเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอลทั้งหมด พวกเขาก็ยกทัพออกตามหาดาวิด ดาวิดรู้ข่าวจึงออกไปรับศึก
9And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
9ชาวฟีลิสเตียบุกปล้นในหุบเขาเรฟาอิม
10And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
10ดาวิดทูลถามพระเจ้าว่า “ข้าควรยกทัพไปสู้ชาวฟีลิสเตียหรือไม่ พระองค์จะทรงให้ข้าชนะพวกเขาหรือ” พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับเขาว่า “จงยกไป เราจะให้เจ้าชนะพวกเขา”
11So they came up to Baal-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
11ดาวิดกับพวกขึ้นไปยังบาอัลเปราซิมและเอาชนะชาวฟีลิสเตียที่นั่น ดาวิดกล่าวว่า “พระเจ้าทรงให้ข้าตีข้าศึกจนแตกกระจาย เหมือนน้ำที่ทะลักออกมา” คนจึงเรียกที่นั่นว่าบาอัลเปราซิม
12And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
12ชาวฟีลิสเตียทิ้งบรรดาพระของตนไว้ที่นั่น ดาวิดสั่งให้เผาพระเหล่านั้น
13And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
13ชาวฟีลิสเตียกลับมาบุกปล้นในหุบเขาอีกครั้ง
14Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
14ดาวิดทูลถามพระเจ้าอีก พระองค์ตรัสว่า “อย่ายกทัพตามหลังพวกเขา จงอ้อมไปและเข้าตีจากด้านตรงข้ามต้นหม่อน
15And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
15เมื่อเจ้าได้ยินเสียงเหมือนกองทัพเดินอยู่บนยอดต้นหม่อน จงออกไปรบ เพราะพระเจ้าทรงออกไปก่อนหน้าเจ้าเพื่อโจมตีกองทัพฟีลิสเตีย”
16David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
16ดาวิดทำตามที่พระเจ้าทรงบัญชา เขากับพวกโจมตีกองทัพฟีลิสเตียตั้งแต่กิเบโอนไปจนถึงเกเซอร์
17And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
17ชื่อเสียงของดาวิดแพร่ไปทั่วทุกดินแดน และพระยาห์เวห์ทรงทำให้ทุกชนชาติเกรงกลัวเขา
