1And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
1ชาวอิสราเอล คือชุมนุมชนทั้งหมด มาถึงถิ่นทุรกันดารศินในเดือนที่ 1 ประชาชนพักอยู่ที่คาเดช มิเรียมเสียชีวิตและถูกฝังไว้ที่นั่น
2And there was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
2ที่นั่นไม่มีน้ำสำหรับชุมนุมชน พวกเขาจึงรวมตัวกันต่อต้านโมเสสและอาโรน
3And the people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying: 'Would that we had perished when our brethren perished before the LORD!
3ประชาชนโต้เถียงกับโมเสสว่า “ถ้าพวกเราตายตอนที่พี่น้องของเราตายต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ก็คงดี!
4And why have ye brought the assembly of the LORD into this wilderness, to die there, we and our cattle?
4ทำไมพวกท่านจึงนำที่ประชุมของพระยาห์เวห์เข้ามาในถิ่นทุรกันดารนี้ เพื่อให้พวกเรากับสัตว์ของเราตายที่นี่?
5And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.'
5ทำไมพวกท่านจึงพาเราออกจากอียิปต์และนำเรามายังสถานที่เลวร้ายนี้? ที่นี่ไม่ใช่ที่สำหรับเพาะปลูก ไม่มีมะเดื่อ องุ่น หรือทับทิม และไม่มีแม้แต่น้ำดื่ม”
6And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces; and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
6โมเสสกับอาโรนออกจากที่ประชุมไปยังทางเข้าเต็นท์นัดพบ แล้วหมอบซบหน้าลง พระสิริของพระยาห์เวห์ก็ปรากฏแก่พวกเขา
7And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
7พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า
8'Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink.'
8“จงถือไม้เท้า แล้วเจ้ากับอาโรนพี่ชายของเจ้าจงเรียกชุมนุมชนมารวมกัน จงพูดกับก้อนหินต่อหน้าพวกเขาเพื่อให้มันหลั่งน้ำออกมา เจ้าจะนำน้ำออกจากก้อนหินให้พวกเขา และจะให้น้ำแก่ชุมนุมชนกับฝูงสัตว์ของพวกเขา”
9And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as He commanded him.
9โมเสสจึงนำไม้เท้าซึ่งอยู่ต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์มาตามที่พระองค์ทรงบัญชา
10And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said unto them: 'Hear now, ye rebels; are we to bring you forth water out of this rock?'
10โมเสสกับอาโรนเรียกที่ประชุมมารวมกันหน้าก้อนหิน โมเสสพูดกับพวกเขาว่า “พวกกบฏ ฟังให้ดี! เราต้องนำน้ำออกจากก้อนหินนี้ให้พวกเจ้าหรือ?”
11And Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their cattle.
11แล้วโมเสสยกมือขึ้น ใช้ไม้เท้าตีก้อนหินสองครั้ง น้ำก็ไหลออกมาอย่างมากมาย ชุมนุมชนกับฝูงสัตว์ของพวกเขาจึงได้ดื่ม
12And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron: 'Because ye believed not in Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.'
12พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสและอาโรนว่า “เพราะพวกเจ้าไม่เชื่อใจเรา และไม่ได้ยกย่องความบริสุทธิ์ของเราต่อหน้าชาวอิสราเอล พวกเจ้าจึงจะไม่ได้นำที่ประชุมนี้เข้าไปในแผ่นดินที่เรามอบให้พวกเขา”
13These are the waters of Meribah, where the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and He was sanctified in them.
13นี่คือน้ำแห่งเมรีบาห์ เพราะชาวอิสราเอลโต้เถียงกับพระยาห์เวห์ และพระองค์ทรงสำแดงความบริสุทธิ์ท่ามกลางพวกเขา
14And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom: 'Thus saith thy brother Israel: Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us;
14โมเสสส่งผู้ส่งสารจากคาเดชไปหากษัตริย์แห่งเอโดมว่า “อิสราเอลพี่น้องของท่านพูดดังนี้ว่า ท่านรู้ถึงความยากลำบากทั้งหมดที่เกิดขึ้นกับเรา
15how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers;
15บรรพบุรุษของเราลงไปอียิปต์ และเราอาศัยอยู่ในอียิปต์เป็นเวลานาน ชาวอียิปต์ทำร้ายเราและบรรพบุรุษของเรา
16and when we cried unto the LORD, He heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border.
16เมื่อเราร้องทูลพระยาห์เวห์ พระองค์ทรงฟังเสียงของเรา ทรงส่งทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งมานำเราออกจากอียิปต์ บัดนี้เราอยู่ที่คาเดช เมืองตรงชายแดนของท่าน
17Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy land; we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go along the king's highway, we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy border.'
17“โปรดให้เราผ่านแผ่นดินของท่าน เราจะไม่ผ่านไร่นาหรือสวนองุ่น และจะไม่ดื่มน้ำจากบ่อน้ำ เราจะเดินไปตามทางหลวงของกษัตริย์ จะไม่แวะออกนอกเส้นทางไปทางขวาหรือซ้ายจนกว่าจะพ้นเขตแดนของท่าน”
18And Edom said unto him: 'Thou shalt not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against thee.'
18แต่เอโดมตอบว่า “เจ้าจะผ่านดินแดนของเราไม่ได้ มิฉะนั้นเราจะยกดาบออกมาต่อสู้กับเจ้า”
19And the children of Israel said unto him: 'We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of thy water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price thereof; let me only pass through on my feet; there is no hurt.'
19ชาวอิสราเอลตอบเขาว่า “เราจะขึ้นไปตามทางหลวง ถ้าเราหรือฝูงสัตว์ของเราดื่มน้ำของท่าน เราจะจ่ายค่าน้ำ ขอเพียงให้เราเดินผ่านไปเท่านั้น ไม่ทำอย่างอื่นเลย”
20And he said: 'Thou shalt not pass through.' And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
20เขาตอบว่า “เจ้าผ่านไปไม่ได้” แล้วเอโดมก็ยกประชาชนจำนวนมากและกองกำลังเข้มแข็งออกมาต่อสู้กับอิสราเอล
21Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; wherefore Israel turned away from him.
21ดังนั้นเอโดมจึงไม่ยอมให้อิสราเอลผ่านเขตแดนของตน อิสราเอลจึงหันไปทางอื่น
22And they journeyed from Kadesh; and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came unto mount Hor.
22พวกเขาออกเดินทางจากคาเดช และชาวอิสราเอล คือชุมนุมชนทั้งหมด มาถึงภูเขาโฮร์
23And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying:
23พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสและอาโรนที่ภูเขาโฮร์ ตรงชายแดนแผ่นดินเอโดมว่า
24'Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against My word at the waters of Meribah.
24“อาโรนจะล่วงลับไปอยู่ร่วมกับบรรพบุรุษของเขา เขาจะไม่ได้เข้าไปในแผ่นดินที่เรามอบให้ชาวอิสราเอล เพราะพวกเจ้าขัดขืนคำของเราที่น้ำแห่งเมรีบาห์
25Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor.
25จงพาอาโรนกับเอเลอาซาร์ลูกชายของเขาขึ้นไปบนภูเขาโฮร์
26And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.'
26จงถอดเครื่องแต่งกายของอาโรนแล้วสวมให้เอเลอาซาร์ลูกชายของเขา อาโรนจะจากไปอยู่ร่วมกับบรรพบุรุษของเขา และจะเสียชีวิตที่นั่น”
27And Moses did as the LORD commanded; and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
27โมเสสทำตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงบัญชา พวกเขาขึ้นไปบนภูเขาโฮร์ต่อหน้าชุมนุมชนทั้งหมด
28And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount; and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.
28โมเสสถอดเครื่องแต่งกายของอาโรนแล้วสวมให้เอเลอาซาร์ลูกชายของเขา อาโรนเสียชีวิตที่นั่นบนยอดเขา แล้วโมเสสกับเอเลอาซาร์ก็ลงมาจากภูเขา
29And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
29เมื่อชุมนุมชนทั้งหมดเห็นว่าอาโรนเสียชีวิตแล้ว ชาวอิสราเอลทั้งหมดก็ไว้ทุกข์ให้อาโรนเป็นเวลา 30 วัน
