1And the lot for the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families was unto the border of Edom, even to the wilderness of Zin southward, at the uttermost part of the south.
1ויהי הגורל למטה בני יהודה למשפחתם אל גבול אדום מדבר צן נגבה מקצה תימן׃
2And their south border was from the uttermost part of the Salt Sea, from the bay that looked southward.
2ויהי להם גבול נגב מקצה ים המלח מן הלשן הפנה נגבה׃
3And it went out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and went up by the south of Kadesh-barnea, and passed along by Hezron, and went up to Addar, and turned about to Karka.
3ויצא אל מנגב למעלה עקרבים ועבר צנה ועלה מנגב לקדש ברנע ועבר חצרון ועלה אדרה ונסב הקרקעה׃
4And it passed along to Azmon, and went out at the Brook of Egypt; and the goings out of the border were at the sea; this shall be your south border.
4ועבר עצמונה ויצא נחל מצרים והיה תצאות הגבול ימה זה יהיה לכם גבול נגב׃
5And the east border was the Salt Sea, even unto the end of the Jordan. And the border of the north side was from the bay of the sea at the end of the Jordan.
5וגבול קדמה ים המלח עד קצה הירדן וגבול לפאת צפונה מלשון הים מקצה הירדן׃
6And the border went up to Beth-hoglah, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the Stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.
6ועלה הגבול בית חגלה ועבר מצפון לבית הערבה ועלה הגבול אבן בהן בן ראובן׃
7And the border went up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is over against the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the brook; and the border passed along to the waters of En-shemesh, and the goings out thereof were at En-rogel.
7ועלה הגבול דברה מעמק עכור וצפונה פנה אל הגלגל אשר נכח למעלה אדמים אשר מנגב לנחל ועבר הגבול אל מי עין שמש והיו תצאתיו אל עין רגל׃
8And the border went up by the Valley of the son of Hinnom unto the side of the Jebusite southward — the same is Jerusalem — and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the Valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the uttermost part of the vale of Rephaim northward.
8ועלה הגבול גי בן הנם אל כתף היבוסי מנגב היא ירושלם ועלה הגבול אל ראש ההר אשר על פני גי הנם ימה אשר בקצה עמק רפאים צפנה׃
9And the border was drawn from the top of the mountain unto the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah — the same is Kiriath-jearim.
9ותאר הגבול מראש ההר אל מעין מי נפתוח ויצא אל ערי הר עפרון ותאר הגבול בעלה היא קרית יערים׃
10And the border turned about from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim on the north — the same is Chesalon — and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed along by Timnah.
10ונסב הגבול מבעלה ימה אל הר שעיר ועבר אל כתף הר יערים מצפונה היא כסלון וירד בית שמש ועבר תמנה׃
11And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward; and the border was drawn to Shikkeron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out at Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.
11ויצא הגבול אל כתף עקרון צפונה ותאר הגבול שכרונה ועבר הר הבעלה ויצא יבנאל והיו תצאות הגבול ימה׃
12And as for the west border, the Great Sea was the border thereof. This is the border of the children of Judah round about according to their families.
12וגבול ים הימה הגדול וגבול זה גבול בני יהודה סביב למשפחתם׃
13And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even Kiriath-arba, which Arba was the father of Anak — the same is Hebron.
13ולכלב בן יפנה נתן חלק בתוך בני יהודה אל פי יהוה ליהושע את קרית ארבע אבי הענק היא חברון׃
14And Caleb drove out thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
14וירש משם כלב את שלושה בני הענק את ששי ואת אחימן ואת תלמי ילידי הענק׃
15And he went up thence against the inhabitants of Debir — now the name of Debir beforetime was Kiriath-sepher.
15ויעל משם אל ישבי דבר ושם דבר לפנים קרית ספר׃
16And Caleb said: 'He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.'
16ויאמר כלב אשר יכה את קרית ספר ולכדה ונתתי לו את עכסה בתי לאשה׃
17And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
17וילכדה עתניאל בן קנז אחי כלב ויתן לו את עכסה בתו לאשה׃
18And it came to pass, when she came unto him, that she persuaded him to ask of her father a field; and she alighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her: 'What wouldest thou?'
18ויהי בבואה ותסיתהו לשאול מאת אביה שדה ותצנח מעל החמור ויאמר לה כלב מה לך׃
19And she said: 'Give me a blessing; for that thou hast set me in the Southland, give me therefore springs of water.' And he gave her the Upper Springs and the Nether Springs.
19ותאמר תנה לי ברכה כי ארץ הנגב נתתני ונתתה לי גלת מים ויתן לה את גלת עליות ואת גלת תחתיות׃
20This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.
20זאת נחלת מטה בני יהודה למשפחתם׃
21And the cities at the uttermost part of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the border of Edom in the South were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur;
21ויהיו הערים מקצה למטה בני יהודה אל גבול אדום בנגבה קבצאל ועדר ויגור׃
22and Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah;
22וקינה ודימונה ועדעדה׃
23and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan;
23וקדש וחצור ויתנן׃
24Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth;
24זיף וטלם ובעלות׃
25and Hazor, and Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron — the same is Hazor;
25וחצור חדתה וקריות חצרון היא חצור׃
26Amam, and Shema, and Moladah;
26אמם ושמע ומולדה׃
27and Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-pelet;
27וחצר גדה וחשמון ובית פלט׃
28and Hazar-shual, and Beer-sheba, and Biziothiah;
28וחצר שועל ובאר שבע ובזיותיה׃
29Baalah, and Iim, and Ezem;
29בעלה ועיים ועצם׃
30and Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah;
30ואלתולד וכסיל וחרמה׃
31and Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah;
31וצקלג ומדמנה וסנסנה׃
32and Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon; all the cities are twenty and nine, with their villages.
32ולבאות ושלחים ועין ורמון כל ערים עשרים ותשע וחצריהן׃
33In the Lowland: Eshtaol, and Zorah, and Ashnah;
33בשפלה אשתאול וצרעה ואשנה׃
34and Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam;
34וזנוח ועין גנים תפוח והעינם׃
35Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah;
35ירמות ועדלם שוכה ועזקה׃
36and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, with Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages.
36ושערים ועדיתים והגדרה וגדרתים ערים ארבע עשרה וחצריהן׃
37Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad;
37צנן וחדשה ומגדל גד׃
38and Dilan, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel;
38ודלען והמצפה ויקתאל׃
39Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon;
39לכיש ובצקת ועגלון׃
40and Cabbon, and Lahmas, and Chithlish;
40וכבון ולחמס וכתליש׃
41and Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages.
41וגדרות בית דגון ונעמה ומקדה ערים שש עשרה וחצריהן׃
42Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan;
42לבנה ועתר ועשן׃
43and Iphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib;
43ויפתח ואשנה ונציב׃
44and Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages.
44וקעילה ואכזיב ומראשה ערים תשע וחצריהן׃
45Ekron, with its towns and its villages;
45עקרון ובנתיה וחצריה׃
46from Ekron even unto the sea, all that were by the side of Ashdod, with their villages.
46מעקרון וימה כל אשר על יד אשדוד וחצריהן׃
47Ashdod, its towns and its villages; Gaza, its towns and its villages; unto the Brook of Egypt, the Great Sea being the border thereof.
47אשדוד בנותיה וחצריה עזה בנותיה וחצריה עד נחל מצרים והים הגבול וגבול׃
48And in the hill-country: Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh;
48ובהר שמיר ויתיר ושוכה׃
49and Dannah, and Kiriath-sannah — the same is Debir;
49ודנה וקרית סנה היא דבר׃
50and Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim;
50וענב ואשתמה וענים׃
51and Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages.
51וגשן וחלן וגלה ערים אחת עשרה וחצריהן׃
52Arab, and Rumah, and Eshan;
52ארב ורומה ואשען׃
53and Janum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah;
53וינים ובית תפוח ואפקה׃
54and Humtah, and Kiriath-arba — the same is Hebron, and Zior; nine cities with their villages.
54וחמטה וקרית ארבע היא חברון וציער ערים תשע וחצריהן׃
55Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Juttah;
55מעון כרמל וזיף ויוטה׃
56and Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah;
56ויזרעאל ויקדעם וזנוח׃
57Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages.
57הקין גבעה ותמנה ערים עשר וחצריהן׃
58Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor;
58חלחול בית צור וגדור׃
59and Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages.
59ומערת ובית ענות ואלתקן ערים שש וחצריהן׃
60Kiriath-baal — the same is Kiriath-jearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.
60קרית בעל היא קרית יערים והרבה ערים שתים וחצריהן׃
61In the wilderness: Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah;
61במדבר בית הערבה מדין וסככה׃
62and Nibshan, and the City of Salt, and En-gedi; six cities with their villages.
62והנבשן ועיר המלח ועין גדי ערים שש וחצריהן׃
63And as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwelt with the children of Judah at Jerusalem, unto this day.
63ואת היבוסי יושבי ירושלם לא יוכלו בני יהודה להורישם וישב היבוסי את בני יהודה בירושלם עד היום הזה׃
