1ヨシュアは年を重ねて老いていた。主は彼に言われた。「あなたは年を重ねて老いたが、まだ相続すべき地が非常に多く残っている。
1Now Joshua was old and well stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him: 'Thou art old and well stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
2残っている地は次のとおりである。ペリシテ人のすべての地方、およびゲシュル人のすべての地方。
2This is the land that yet remaineth: all the regions of the Philistines, and all the Geshurites;
3エジプトの手前にあるシホルから、北はカナン人のものとみなされているエクロンの境界まで。またペリシテ人の五人の領主、すなわちガザ人、アシュドデ人、アシュケロン人、ガト人、エクロン人、そしてアビム人。
3from the Shihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the border of Ekron northward — which is counted to the Canaanites; the five lords of the Philistines: the Gazite, and the Ashdodite, the Ashkelonite, the Gittite, and the Ekronite; also the Avvim
4南のほうでは、カナン人の全土、およびシドン人に属するメアラから、アフェクを経てアモリ人の境界まで。
4on the south; all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongeth to the Zidonians, unto Aphek, to the border of the Amorites;
5またゲバル人の地と、東側のレバノン全土、すなわちヘルモン山のふもとのバアル・ガドからハマトの入り口まで。
5and the land of the Gebalites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baal-gad under mount Hermon unto the entrance of Hamath;
6レバノンからミスレフォト・マイムまでの山地の住民、すなわちシドン人を皆、わたしがイスラエルの人々の前から追い払う。あなたは、わたしが命じたとおり、その地をイスラエルに相続地として割り当てなさい。
6all the inhabitants of the hill-country from Lebanon unto Misrephoth-maim, even all the Zidonians; them will I drive out from before the children of Israel; only allot thou it unto Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
7それゆえ今、この地を九つの部族とマナセの半部族に相続地として分けなさい。」
7Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.'
8マナセのもう半分の部族とともに、ルベン人とガド人は、主のしもべモーセがヨルダン川の東で与えた相続地をすでに受け取っていた。
8With him the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them;
9すなわち、アルノン川の谷の端にあるアロエルと、谷の真ん中にある町、およびメデバからディボンに至るすべての平原、
9from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the table-land from Medeba unto Dibon;
10ヘシュボンで治めていたアモリ人の王シホンのすべての町で、アンモン人の境界に至るまで。
10and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, unto the border of the children of Ammon;
11またギルアデ、ゲシュル人およびマアカ人の境界、ヘルモン山全域、サルカに至るバシャン全域、
11and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan unto Salcah;
12バシャンでアシュタロトとエドレイにおいて治めていたオグの王国全域であった。彼はレファイムの生き残りであった。モーセはこれらの者を打ち、彼らを追い払った。
12all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei — the same was left of the remnant of the Rephaim — for these did Moses smite, and drove them out.
13しかしイスラエルの人々は、ゲシュル人やマアカ人を追い払わなかった。ゲシュルとマアカは今日に至るまでイスラエルのただ中に住んでいる。
13Nevertheless the children of Israel drove not out the Geshurites, nor the Maacathites; but Geshur and Maacath dwelt in the midst of Israel unto this day.
14ただしレビの部族には相続地を与えなかった。イスラエルの神、主への火のささげ物が、主の言葉どおり、レビの相続分だからである。
14Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance; the offerings of the LORD, the God of Israel, made by fire are his inheritance, as He spoke unto him.
15モーセはルベンの子らの部族に、その氏族に従って与えた。
15And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their families.
16彼らの境界は、アルノン川の谷の端にあるアロエルと、谷の真ん中にある町、およびメデバのそばのすべての平原、
16And their border was from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the table-land by Medeba;
17ヘシュボンと平原にあるそのすべての町、すなわちディボン、バモテ・バアル、ベテ・バアル・メオン、
17Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the table-land; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon;
18ヤハツ、ケデモト、メファアト、
18and Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath;
19キルヤタイム、シブマ、谷の山にあるツェレト・シャハル、
19and Kiriathaim, and Sibmah, and Zerethshahar in the mount of the valley;
20ベテ・ペオル、ピスガの斜面、ベテ・エシモト、
20and Beth-peor, and the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth;
21および平原のすべての町、ヘシュボンで治めていたアモリ人の王シホンの王国全域であった。モーセはシホンと、その地に住んでいたミディアンの指導者エヴィ、レケム、ツル、フル、レバを打った。彼らはシホンに属する君主たちであった。
21and all the cities of the table-land, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the chiefs of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the princes of Sihon, that dwelt in the land.
22イスラエルの人々は、殺された他の者たちとともに、占い師であるベオルの子バラムを剣で殺した。
22Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among the rest of their slain.
23ルベンの子らの境界はヨルダン川とその岸であった。これが氏族ごとのルベンの子らの相続地、その町々と村々である。
23And as for the border of the children of Reuben, the Jordan was their border. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben according to their families, the cities and the villages thereof.
24モーセはガドの部族、すなわちガドの子らに、その氏族に従って与えた。
24And Moses gave unto the tribe of Gad, unto the children of Gad, according to their families.
25彼らの境界はヤゼルとギルアデのすべての町、およびラバの東にあるアロエルに至るアンモン人の地の半分、
25And their border was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;
26またヘシュボンからラマト・ミツペおよびベトニムまで、そしてマハナイムからデビルの境界までであった。
26and from Heshbon unto Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Lidbir;
27谷間では、ヘシュボンの王シホンの王国の残りの地、すなわちベテ・ハラム、ベテ・ニムラ、スコテ、ツァフォン。境界はヨルダン川の岸に沿い、川の東側にあるキネレテの海の端まで及んだ。
27and in the valley, Beth-haram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan being the border thereof, unto the uttermost part of the sea of Chinnereth beyond the Jordan eastward.
28これがその氏族に従ったガドの子らの相続地であり、その町々と村々であった。
28This is the inheritance of the children of Gad according to their families, the cities and the villages thereof.
29モーセはマナセの半部族に相続地を与えた。それはマナセの子らの半部族のためのもので、その氏族に従って与えられた。
29And Moses gave inheritance unto the half-tribe of Manasseh; and it was for the half-tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their families.
30彼らの境界はマハナイムから始まり、バシャン全域、バシャンの王オグの王国全域、バシャンにあるヤイルのすべての町である六十の町、
30And their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the villages of Jair, which are in Bashan, threescore cities;
31またギルアデの半分、およびバシャンにおけるオグの王国の町であるアシュタロトとエドレイであった。これらはマナセの子マキルの子らのためのもので、すなわちマキルの子らの半分のためのもので、その氏族に従って与えられた。
31and half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were for the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even for the half of the children of Machir according to their families.
32これらはモーセが、エリコの東にあるヨルダン川の向こう側のモアブの平原で割り当てた相続地である。
32These are the inheritances which Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan at Jericho, eastward.
33しかしレビの部族には、モーセは相続地を与えなかった。イスラエルの神、主ご自身が、御言葉どおり彼らの相続分だからである。
33But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance; the LORD, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as He spoke unto them.
