1あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのですから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが、神の右に座っておられます。
1Therefore, if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above; where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God:
2地上にあるものではなく、上にあるものに心を向けなさい。
2Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth.
3あなたがたはすでに死んでおり、あなたがたの命はキリストと共に神のうちに隠されているからです。
3For you are dead; and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4私たちの命であるキリストが現れるとき、あなたがたもキリストと共に栄光のうちに現れます。
4When Christ shall appear, who is your life, then you also shall appear with him in glory.
5ですから、あなたがたのうちにある地上のもの、すなわち性的不品行、汚れ、堕落した情欲、悪い欲望、そして偶像礼拝である貪欲を死なせなさい。
5Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is the service of idols.
6これらのことのために、神の怒りが不従順な者たちの上に下ります。
6For which things the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief,
7あなたがたも以前、それらの中に生きていたころは、そのように歩んでいました。
7In which you also walked some time, when you lived in them.
8しかし今は、怒り、憤り、悪意、中傷、口から出る恥ずべき言葉を、すべて捨て去りなさい。
8But now put you also all away: anger, indignation, malice, blasphemy, filthy speech out of your mouth.
9互いに偽りを言ってはなりません。あなたがたは古い人をその行いと共に脱ぎ捨て、
9Lie not one to another: stripping yourselves of the old man with his deeds,
10新しい人を身に着けたからです。この新しい人は、造り主のかたちに従い、知識において新しくされ続けています。
10And putting on the new, him who is renewed unto knowledge, according to the image of him that created him.
11そこには、ギリシャ人とユダヤ人、割礼を受けた者と受けていない者、未開人、スキタイ人、奴隷、自由人という区別はありません。キリストがすべてであり、すべての人のうちにおられるのです。
11Where there is neither Gentile nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian nor Scythian, bond nor free. But Christ is all, and in all.
12ですから、神に選ばれた者、聖なる者、愛されている者として、心からのあわれみ、親切、へりくだった心、慎み深さ、忍耐を身に着けなさい。
12Put ye on therefore, as the elect of God, holy, and beloved, the bowels of mercy, benignity, humility, modesty, patience:
13互いに耐え忍び、だれかに不満を抱くことがあっても、互いに赦し合いなさい。キリストがあなたがたを赦してくださったように、あなたがたもそうしなさい。
13Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against another: even as the Lord hath forgiven you, so do you also.
14これらすべてにまさって、愛のうちを歩みなさい。愛は、完全さをもたらすきずなです。
14But above all these things have charity, which is the bond of perfection:
15神の平和があなたがたの心を支配するようにしなさい。あなたがたが一つの体として召されたのも、この平和のためです。また、感謝する人となりなさい。
15And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful.
16キリストの言葉をあなたがたのうちに豊かに住まわせなさい。あらゆる知恵をもって、詩篇と賛美歌と霊の歌によって互いに教え、戒め、恵みに満たされた心で主に向かって歌いなさい。
16Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly, in all wisdom: teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God.
17言葉であれ行いであれ、何をするにも、すべてを主イエスの名によって行い、主を通して父なる神に感謝しなさい。
17All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
18妻たちよ、主にあってふさわしく、夫に従いなさい。
18Wives, be subject to your husbands, as it behoveth in the Lord.
19夫たちよ、妻を愛しなさい。妻につらく当たってはなりません。
19Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter towards them.
20子どもたちよ、すべてのことにおいて両親に従いなさい。それは主に喜ばれることだからです。
20Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
21父親たちよ、子どもをいらだたせてはなりません。子どもを気落ちさせないためです。
21Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged.
22しもべたちよ、すべてのことにおいて、この世で主人である人たちに従いなさい。人に気に入られようとして、見られているときだけ仕えるのではなく、神を恐れ、真心から仕えなさい。
22Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not serving to the eye, as pleasing men, but in simplicity of heart, fearing God.
23何をするにも、人に対してではなく主に対してするように、心を込めて働きなさい。
23Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men:
24あなたがたは、主から相続財産という報いを受けることを知っています。あなたがたが仕えているのは、主キリストなのです。
24Knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ.
25不正を行う者は、自分が行った不正の報いを受けます。そこにえこひいきはありません。
25For he that doth wrong, shall receive for that which he hath done wrongfully: and there is no respect of persons with God.
