1ネバテの息子ヤロブアム王の第十八年に、アビヤムはユダを治め始めた。
1Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat began Abijam to reign over Judah.
2彼はエルサレムで三年間統治した。彼の母の名はマアカといい、アビシャロムの娘であった。
2Three years reigned he in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
3彼は父が先に歩んだ罪の道をことごとく歩んだ。彼の心は、父ダビデの心のようには、彼の神、主に対して全きものではなかった。
3And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not whole with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
4それでもダビデのゆえに、彼の神、主はエルサレムで彼に一つのともしびを与え、彼の後に息子を立ててエルサレムを堅くされた。
4Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem;
5ダビデは主の目にかなうことを行い、その生涯のすべての日々において、ヘテ人ウリヤの事のほかは、主が彼に命じられたすべてのことから逸れなかったからである。
5because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that He commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
6レハブアムとヤロブアムの間には、彼の生涯のすべての日々において戦いがあった。
6Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
7アビヤムのその他の事績と、彼が行ったすべてのことは、ユダの王たちの年代記の書に記されているではないか。アビヤムとヤロブアムの間には戦いがあった。
7And the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8アビヤムは父祖たちとともに眠りにつき、彼らは彼をダビデの町に葬った。そしてその息子アサが彼に代わって王となった。
8And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead.
9イスラエルの王ヤロブアムの第二十年に、アサはユダを治め始めた。
9And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Asa to reign over Judah.
10彼はエルサレムで四十一年間統治した。彼の母の名はマアカといい、アビシャロムの娘であった。
10And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
11アサは、彼の父ダビデが行ったように、主の目にかなうことを行った。
11And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.
12彼はその地から神殿男娼を取り除き、父祖たちが造ったすべての偶像を取り除いた。
12And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
13彼はまた、彼の母マアカがアシェラのために忌むべき像を造ったので、彼女を王母の位から退けた。アサは彼女の像を切り倒し、キデロンの川でそれを焼いた。
13And also Maacah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
14しかし高き所は取り除かれなかった。それにもかかわらず、アサの心はその生涯の間、主に対して全きものであった。
14But the high places were not taken away; nevertheless the heart of Asa was whole with the LORD all his days.
15彼は彼の父が聖別したものと、彼自身が聖別したもの、すなわち銀、金、器を主の家に運び入れた。
15And he brought into the house of the LORD the things that his father had hallowed, and the things that himself had hallowed, silver, and gold, and vessels.
16アサとイスラエルの王バシャの間には、彼らの日々のすべてにおいて戦いがあった。
16And there was war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel all their days.
17イスラエルの王バシャはユダに攻め上り、ユダの王アサのもとへだれも出入りできないよう、ラマを築いた。
17And Baasa king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
18そこでアサは、主の家の宝物庫と王の家の宝物庫に残されていたすべての銀と金を取り、それらを自分のしもべたちの手に委ねた。そしてアサ王は彼らを、ダマスコに住むアラムの王、ヘジオンの息子タブリモンの息子ベン・ハダドに遣わして言った。
18Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Aram, that dwelt at Damascus, saying:
19「わたしとあなた、わたしの父とあなたの父の間には契約があります。わたしはあなたに銀と金の贈り物をお送りします。行って、イスラエルの王バシャとの契約を破棄してください。彼がわたしから去って行くためです。」
19'There is a league between me and thee, between my father and thy father; behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasa king of Israel, that he may depart from me.'
20ベン・ハダドはアサ王に聞き従い、自分の軍の長たちをイスラエルの町々に遣わした。彼らはイヨン、ダン、アベル・ベテ・マアカ、およびナフタリの全地とともにキネロテのすべてを打った。
20And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
21バシャはそれを聞くと、ラマを建てるのをやめて、ティルツァに住んだ。
21And it came to pass, when Baasa heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.
22そこでアサ王は全ユダに布告を出した。免除される者はだれもいなかった。彼らはバシャが建てていたラマの石と木材を運び去り、アサ王はそれらでベニヤミンのゲバとミツパを建てた。
22Then king Asa made a proclamation unto all Judah; none was exempted; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasa had builded; and king Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
23アサのその他のすべての事績、その力、行ったすべてのこと、建てた町々は、ユダの王たちの年代記の書に記されている。彼は年老いたとき、足を病んだ。
23Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
24アサは父祖たちとともに眠りにつき、父ダビデの町に父祖たちとともに葬られた。そしてその息子ヨシャファテが彼に代わって王となった。
24And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.
25ユダの王アサの第二年に、ヤロブアムの息子ナダブがイスラエルを治め始めた。彼は二年間イスラエルを治めた。
25And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years.
26彼は主の目に悪とされることを行い、父の道、すなわち父がイスラエルに犯させた罪の道を歩んだ。
26And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
27イッサカルの家の、アヒヤの息子バシャは彼に対して陰謀を企てた。ナダブと全イスラエルはギベトンを包囲していたので、バシャはペリシテ人に属するギベトンで彼を打った。
27And Baasa the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasa smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
28ユダの王アサの第三年に、バシャは彼を殺し、彼に代わって王となった。
28Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasa slay him, and reigned in his stead.
29彼が王となるやいなや、彼はヤロブアムの全家を打った。主がそのしもべであるシロ人アヒヤを通して語られた言葉のとおりに、彼はヤロブアムに息のある者を一人も残さず、ついに彼を滅ぼした。
29And it came to pass that, as soon as he was king, he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him; according unto the saying of the LORD, which He spoke by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite;
30それはヤロブアムが犯した罪と、イスラエルに犯させた罪のためであり、彼がイスラエルの神、主の怒りを引き起こしたためであった。
30for the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and wherewith he made Israel to sin; because of his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD, the God of Israel.
31ナダブのその他の事績と、彼が行ったすべてのことは、イスラエルの王たちの年代記の書に記されているではないか。
31Now the rest of the acts of Nadab and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
32アサとイスラエルの王バシャの間には、彼らの日々のすべてにおいて戦いがあった。
32And there was war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel all their days.
33ユダの王アサの第三年に、アヒヤの息子バシャはティルツァで全イスラエルを治め始め、二十四年間統治した。
33In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasa the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, and reigned twenty and four years.
34彼は主の目に悪とされることを行い、ヤロブアムの道、すなわちヤロブアムがイスラエルに犯させた罪の道を歩んだ。
34And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
