1在 凱撒利亞 有一個人，名叫 哥尼流 ，是「 意大利 營」的百夫長。
1And there was a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion of that which is called the Italian band;
2他是個虔誠人，他和全家都敬畏上帝，多多賙濟百姓，常常禱告上帝。
2A religious man, and fearing God with all his house, giving much alms to the people, and always praying to God.
3有一天，約在申初，他在異象中明明看見上帝的一個使者進去，到他那裏，說：「 哥尼流 。」
3This man saw in a vision manifestly, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him: Cornelius.
4哥尼流 定睛看他，驚怕說：「主啊，甚麼事呢？」天使說：「你的禱告和你的賙濟達到上帝面前，已蒙記念了。
4And he, beholding him, being seized with fear, said: What is it, Lord? And he said to him: Thy prayers and thy alms are ascended for a memorial in the sight of God.
5現在你當打發人往 約帕 去，請那稱呼 彼得 的 西門 來。
5And now send men to Joppe, and call hither one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:
6他住在海邊一個硝皮匠 西門 的家裏，房子在海邊上。」
6He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side. He will tell thee what thou must do.
7向他說話的天使去後， 哥尼流 叫了兩個家人和常伺候他的一個虔誠兵來，
7And when the angel who spoke to him was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a soldier who feared the Lord, of them that were under him.
8把這事都述說給他們聽，就打發他們往 約帕 去。
8To whom when he had related all, he sent them to Joppe.
9第二天，他們行路將近那城。 彼得 約在午正，上房頂去禱告，
9And on the next day, whilst they were going on their journey, and drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up to the higher parts of the house to pray, about the sixth hour.
10覺得餓了，想要吃。那家的人正預備飯的時候， 彼得 魂遊象外，
10And being hungry, he was desirous to taste somewhat. And as they were preparing, there came upon him an ecstasy of mind.
11看見天開了，有一物降下，好像一塊大布，繫着四角，縋在地上，
11And he saw the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great linen sheet let down by the four corners from heaven to the earth:
12裏面有地上各樣四足的走獸和昆蟲，並天上的飛鳥；
12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts, and creeping things of the earth, and fowls of the air.
13又有聲音向他說：「 彼得 ，起來，宰了吃！」
13And there came a voice to him: Arise, Peter; kill and eat.
14彼得 卻說：「主啊，這是不可的！凡俗物和不潔淨的物，我從來沒有吃過。」
14But Peter said: Far be it from me; for I never did eat any thing that is common and unclean.
15第二次有聲音向他說：「上帝所潔淨的，你不可當作俗物。」
15And the voice spoke to him again the second time: That which God hath cleansed, do not thou call common.
16這樣一連三次，那物隨即收回天上去了。
16And this was done thrice; and presently the vessel was taken up into heaven.
17彼得 心裏正在猜疑之間，不知所看見的異象是甚麼意思。 哥尼流 所差來的人已經訪問到 西門 的家，站在門外，
17Now, whilst Peter was doubting within himself, what the vision that he had seen should mean, behold the men who were sent from Cornelius, inquiring for Simon’s house, stood at the gate.
18喊着問：「有稱呼 彼得 的 西門 住在這裏沒有？」
18And when they had called, they asked, if Simon, who is surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
19彼得 還思想那異象的時候， 聖 靈向他說：「有三個人來找你。
19And as Peter was thinking of the vision, the Spirit said to him: Behold three men seek thee.
20起來，下去，和他們同往，不要疑惑，因為是我差他們來的。」
20Arise, therefore, get thee down and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
21於是 彼得 下去見那些人，說：「我就是你們所找的人。你們來是為甚麼緣故？」
21Then Peter, going down to the men, said: Behold, I am he whom you seek; what is the cause for which you are come?
22他們說：「百夫長 哥尼流 是個義人，敬畏上帝，為 猶太 通國所稱讚。他蒙一位聖天使指示，叫他請你到他家裏去，聽你的話。」
22Who said: Cornelius, a centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and having good testimony from all the nation of the Jews, received an answer of an holy angel, to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
23彼得 就請他們進去，住了一宿。 次日，起身和他們同去，還有 約帕 的幾個弟兄同着他去；
23Then bringing them in, he lodged them. And the day following he arose, and went with them: and some of the brethren from Joppe accompanied him.
24又次日，他們進入 凱撒利亞 ， 哥尼流 已經請了他的親屬密友等候他們。
24And the morrow after, he entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, having called together his kinsmen and special friends.
25彼得 一進去， 哥尼流 就迎接他，俯伏在他腳前拜他。
25And it came to pass, that when Peter was come in, Cornelius came to meet him, Cornelius came to meet him, and falling at his feet adored.
26彼得 卻拉他，說：「你起來，我也是人。」
26But Peter lifted him up, saying: Arise, I myself also am a man.
27彼得 和他說着話進去，見有好些人在那裏聚集，
27And talking with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
28就對他們說：「你們知道， 猶太 人和別國的人親近來往本是不合例的，但上帝已經指示我，無論甚麼人都不可看作俗而不潔淨的。
28And he said to them: You know how abominable it is for a man that is a Jew, to keep company or to come unto one of another nation: but God hath shewed to me, to call no man common or unclean.
29所以我被請的時候，就不推辭而來。現在請問：你們叫我來有甚麼意思呢？」
29For which cause, making no doubt, I came when I was sent for. I ask, therefore, for what cause you have sent for me?
30哥尼流 說：「前四天，這個時候，我在家中守着申初的禱告，忽然有一個人穿着光明的衣裳，站在我面前，
30And Cornelius said: Four days ago, unto this hour, I was praying in my house, at the ninth hour, and behold a man stood before me in white apparel, and said:
31說：『 哥尼流 ，你的禱告已蒙垂聽，你的賙濟達到上帝面前已蒙記念了。
31Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thy alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
32你當打發人往 約帕 去，請那稱呼 彼得 的 西門 來，他住在海邊一個硝皮匠 西門 的家裏。』
32Send therefore to Joppe, and call hither Simon, who is surnamed Peter: he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side.
33所以我立時打發人去請你。你來了很好；現今我們都在上帝面前，要聽主所吩咐你的一切話。」
33Immediately therefore I sent to thee: and thou hast done well in coming. Now therefore all we are present in thy sight, to hear all things whatsoever are commanded thee by the Lord.
34彼得 就開口說：「我真看出上帝是不偏待人。
34And Peter opening his mouth, said: In very deed I perceive, that God is not a respecter of persons.
35原來，各國中那敬畏主、行義的人都為主所悅納。
35But in every nation, he that feareth him, and worketh justice, is acceptable to him.
36上帝藉着耶穌基督（他是萬有的主）傳和平的福音，將這道賜給 以色列 人。
36God sent the word to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all.)
37這話在 約翰 宣傳洗禮以後，從 加利利 起，傳遍了 猶太 。
37You know the word which hath been published through all Judea: for it began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached,
38上帝怎樣以聖靈和能力膏 拿撒勒 人耶穌，這都是你們知道的。他周流四方，行善事，醫好凡被魔鬼壓制的人，因為上帝與他同在。
38Jesus of Nazareth: how God anointed him with the Holy Ghost, and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
39他在 猶太 人之地，並 耶路撒冷 所行的一切事，有我們作見證。他們竟把他掛在木頭上殺了。
39And we are witnesses of all things that he did in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed, hanging him upon a tree.
40第三日，上帝叫他復活，顯現出來；
40Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest,
41不是顯現給眾人看，乃是顯現給上帝預先所揀選為他作見證的人看，就是我們這些在他從死裏復活以後和他同吃同喝的人。
41Not to all the people, but to witnesses preordained by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he arose again from the dead;
42他吩咐我們傳道給眾人，證明他是上帝所立定的，要作審判活人、死人的主。
42And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who was appointed by God, to be judge of the living and of the dead.
43眾先知也為他作見證說：『凡信他的人必因他的名得蒙赦罪。』」
43To him all the prophets give testimony, that by his name all receive remission of sins, who believe in him.
44彼得 還說這話的時候，聖靈降在一切聽道的人身上。
44While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word.
45那些奉割禮、和 彼得 同來的信徒，見聖靈的恩賜也澆在外邦人身上，就都希奇；
45And the faithful of the circumcision, who came with Peter, were astonished, for that the grace of the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the Gentiles also.
46因聽見他們說方言，稱讚上帝為大。
46For they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God.
47於是 彼得 說：「這些人既受了聖靈，與我們一樣，誰能禁止用水給他們施洗呢？」
47Then Peter answered: Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, as well as we?
48就吩咐奉耶穌基督的名給他們施洗。他們又請 彼得 住了幾天。
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they desired him to tarry with them some days.
