1那時，門徒增多，有說希臘話的 猶太 人向 希伯來 人發怨言，因為在天天的供給上忽略了他們的寡婦。
1And in those days, the number of the disciples increasing, there arose a murmuring of the Greeks against the Hebrews, for that their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2十二使徒叫眾門徒來，對他們說：「我們撇下上帝的道去管理飯食，原是不合宜的。
2Then the twelve calling together the multitude of the disciples, said: It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3所以弟兄們，當從你們中間選出七個有好名聲、被 聖 靈充滿、智慧充足的人，我們就派他們管理這事。
3Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4但我們要專心以祈禱、傳道為事。」
4But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5大眾都喜悅這話，就揀選了 司提反 ，乃是大有信心、聖靈充滿的人，又揀選 腓利 、 伯羅哥羅 、 尼迦挪 、 提門 、 巴米拿 ，並進 猶太 教的 安提阿 人 尼哥拉 ，
5And the saying was liked by all the multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith, and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch.
6叫他們站在使徒面前。使徒禱告了，就按手在他們頭上。
6These they set before the apostles; and they praying, imposed hands upon them.
7上帝的道興旺起來；在 耶路撒冷 門徒數目加增的甚多，也有許多祭司信從了這道。
7And the word of the Lord increased; and the number of the disciples was multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly: a great multitude also of the priests obeyed the faith.
8司提反 滿得恩惠、能力，在民間行了大奇事和神蹟。
8And Stephen, full of grace and fortitude, did great wonders and signs among the people.
9當時有稱 利百地拿 會堂的幾個人，並有 古利奈 、 亞歷山大 、 基利家 、 亞細亞 各處會堂的幾個人，都起來和 司提反 辯論。
9Now there arose some of that which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of them that were of Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10司提反 是以智慧和 聖 靈說話，眾人敵擋不住，
10And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit that spoke.
11就買出人來說：「我們聽見他說謗讟 摩西 和上帝的話。」
11Then they suborned men to say, they had heard him speak words of blasphemy against Moses and against God.
12他們又聳動了百姓、長老，並文士，就忽然來捉拿他，把他帶到公會去，
12And they stirred up the people, and the ancients, and the scribes; and running together, they took him, and brought him to the council.
13設下假見證，說：「這個人說話，不住地糟踐聖所和律法。
13And they set up false witnesses, who said: This man ceaseth not to speak words against the holy place and the law.
14我們曾聽見他說，這 拿撒勒 人耶穌要毀壞此地，也要改變 摩西 所交給我們的規條。」
14For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the traditions which Moses delivered unto us.
15在公會裏坐着的人都定睛看他，見他的面貌，好像天使的面貌。
15And all that sat in the council, looking on him, saw his face as if it had been the face of an angel.
