1上帝的僕人，耶穌基督的使徒 保羅 ，憑着上帝選民的信心與敬虔真理的知識，
1Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of the elect of God and the acknowledging of the truth, which is according to godliness:
2盼望那無謊言的上帝在萬古之先所應許的永生，
2Unto the hope of life everlasting, which God, who lieth not, hath promised before the times of the world:
3到了日期，藉着傳揚的工夫把他的道顯明了；這傳揚 的責任 是按着上帝－我們救主的命令交託了我。
3But hath in due times manifested his word in preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Saviour:
4現在 寫信給 提多 ，就是照着我們共信之道作我真兒子的。願恩惠、平安從父上帝和我們的救主基督耶穌歸與你！
4To Titus my beloved son, according to the common faith, grace and peace from God the Father, and from Christ Jesus our Saviour.
5我從前留你在 克里特 ，是要你將那沒有辦完的事都辦整齊了，又照我所吩咐你的，在各城設立長老。
5For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and shouldest ordain priests in every city, as I also appointed thee:
6若有無可指責的人，只作一個婦人的丈夫，兒女也是信主的，沒有人告他們是放蕩不服約束的， 就可以設立 。
6If any be without crime, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of riot, or unruly.
7監督既是上帝的管家，必須無可指責，不任性，不暴躁，不因酒滋事，不打人，不貪無義之財；
7For a bishop must be without crime, as the steward of God: not proud, not subject to anger, not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre:
8樂意接待遠人，好善，莊重，公平，聖潔自持；
8But given to hospitality, gentle, sober, just, holy, continent:
9堅守所教真實的道理，就能將純正的教訓勸化人，又能把爭辯的人駁倒了。
9Embracing that faithful word which is according to doctrine, that he may be able to exhort in sound doctrine, and to convince the gainsayers.
10因為有許多人不服約束，說虛空話欺哄人；那奉割禮的更是這樣。
10For there are also many disobedient, vain talkers, and seducers: especially they who are of the circumcision:
11這些人的口總要堵住。他們因貪不義之財，將不該教導的教導人，敗壞人的全家。
11Who must be reproved, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
12有 克里特 人中的一個本地先知說：「 克里特 人常說謊話，乃是惡獸，又饞又懶。」
12One of them a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slothful bellies.
13這個見證是真的。所以，你要嚴嚴地責備他們，使他們在真道上純全無疵，
13This testimony is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
14不聽 猶太 人荒渺的言語和離棄真道之人的誡命。
14Not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men, who turn themselves away from the truth.
15在潔淨的人，凡物都潔淨；在污穢不信的人，甚麼都不潔淨，連心地和天良也都污穢了。
15All things are clean to the clean: but to them that are defiled, and to unbelievers, nothing is clean: but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
16他們說是認識上帝，行事卻和他相背；本是可憎惡的，是悖逆的，在各樣善事上是可廢棄的。
16They profess that they know God: but in their works they deny him; being abominable, and incredulous, and to every good work reprobate.
