1那時， 希律 王下手苦害教會中幾個人，
1And at the same time, Herod the king stretched forth his hands, to afflict some of the church.
2用刀殺了 約翰 的哥哥 雅各 。
2And he killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.
3他見 猶太 人喜歡這事，又去捉拿 彼得 。那時正是除酵的日子。
3And seeing that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to take up Peter also. Now it was in the days of the Azymes.
4希律 拿了 彼得 ，收在監裏，交付四班兵丁看守，每班四個人，意思要在逾越節後把他提出來，當着百姓 辦他 。
4And when he had apprehended him, he cast him into prison, delivering him to four files of soldiers to be kept, intending, after the pasch, to bring him forth to the people.
5於是 彼得 被囚在監裏；教會卻為他切切地禱告上帝。
5Peter therefore was kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing by the church unto God for him.
6希律 將要提他出來的前一夜， 彼得 被兩條鐵鍊鎖着，睡在兩個兵丁當中；看守的人也在門外看守。
6And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7忽然，有主的一個使者站在旁邊，屋裏有光照耀，天使拍 彼得 的肋旁，拍醒了他，說：「快快起來！」那鐵鍊就從他手上脫落下來。
7And behold an angel of the Lord stood by him: and a light shined in the room: and he striking Peter on the side, raised him up, saying: Arise quickly. And the chains fell off from his hands.
8天使對他說：「束上帶子，穿上鞋。」他就那樣做。天使又說：「披上外衣，跟着我來。」
8And the angel said to him: Gird thyself, and put on thy sandals. And he did so. And he said to him: Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9彼得 就出來跟着他，不知道天使所做是真的，只當見了異象。
9And going out, he followed him, and he knew not that it was true which was done by the angel: but thought he saw a vision.
10過了第一層第二層監牢，就來到臨街的鐵門，那門自己開了。他們出來，走過一條街，天使便離開他去了。
10And passing through the first and the second ward, they came to the iron gate that leadeth to the city, which of itself opened to them. And going out, they passed on through one street: and immediately the angel departed from him.
11彼得 醒悟過來，說：「我現在真知道主差遣他的使者，救我脫離 希律 的手和 猶太 百姓一切所盼望的。」
11And Peter coming to himself, said: Now I know in very deed, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12想了一想，就往那稱呼 馬可 的 約翰 、他母親 馬利亞 家去，在那裏有好些人聚集禱告。
12And considering, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, who was surnamed Mark, where many were gathered together and praying.
13彼得 敲外門，有一個使女，名叫 羅大 ，出來探聽，
13And when he knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, whose name was Rhode.
14聽得是 彼得 的聲音，就歡喜的顧不得開門，跑進去告訴眾人說：「 彼得 站在門外。」
14And as soon as she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for joy, but running in she told that Peter stood before the gate.
15他們說：「你是瘋了！」使女極力地說：「真是他！」他們說：「必是他的天使！」
15But they said to her: Thou art mad. But she affirmed that it was so. Then said they: It is his angel.
16彼得 不住地敲門。他們開了門，看見他，就甚驚奇。
16But Peter continued knocking. And when they had opened, they saw him, and were astonished.
17彼得 擺手，不要他們作聲，就告訴他們主怎樣領他出監；又說：「你們把這事告訴 雅各 和眾弟兄。」於是出去，往別處去了。
17But he beckoning to them with his hand to hold their peace, told how the Lord had brought him out of prison, and he said: Tell these things to James, and to the brethren. And going out, he went into another place.
18到了天亮，兵丁擾亂得很，不知道 彼得 往哪裏去了。
18Now when day was come, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.
19希律 找他，找不着，就審問看守的人，吩咐把他們拉去殺了。後來 希律 離開 猶太 ，下 凱撒利亞 去，住在那裏。
19And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not; having examined the keepers, he commanded they should be put to death; and going down from Judea to Caesarea, he abode there.
20希律 惱怒 泰爾 、 西頓 的人。他們那一帶地方是從王的地土得糧，因此就託了王的內侍臣 伯拉斯都 的情，一心來求和。
20And he was angry with the Tyrians and the Sidonians. But they with one accord came to him, and having gained Blastus, who was the king’s chamberlain, they desired peace, because their countries were nourished by him.
21希律 在所定的日子，穿上朝服，坐在位上，對他們講論一番。
21And upon a day appointed, Herod being arrayed in kingly apparel, sat in the judgment seat, and made an oration to them.
22百姓喊着說：「這是神的聲音，不是人的聲音。」
22And the people made acclamation, saying: It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23希律 不歸榮耀給上帝，所以主的使者立刻罰他，他被蟲所咬，氣就絕了。
23And forthwith an angel of the Lord struck him, because he had not given the honour to God: and being eaten up by worms, he gave up the ghost.
24上帝的道日見興旺，越發廣傳。
24But the word of the Lord increased and multiplied.
25巴拿巴 和 掃羅 辦完了他們供給的事，就從 耶路撒冷 回來，帶着稱呼 馬可 的 約翰 同去。
25And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, having fulfilled their ministry, taking with them John, who was surnamed Mark.
