1非利士 人與 以色列 人爭戰， 以色列 人在 非利士 人面前逃跑，在 基利波山 有被殺仆倒的。
1Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
2非利士 人緊追 掃羅 和他兒子們，就殺了 掃羅 的兒子 約拿單 、 亞比拿達 、 麥基舒亞 。
2And the Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul.
3勢派甚大， 掃羅 被弓箭手追上，射傷甚重，
3And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was in anguish by reason of the archers.
4就吩咐拿他兵器的人說：「你拔出刀來，將我刺死，免得那些未受割禮的人來凌辱我。」但拿兵器的人甚懼怕，不肯刺他；
4Then said Saul unto his armour-bearer: 'Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and make a mock of me.' But his armour-bearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell upon it.
5掃羅 就自己伏在刀上死了。拿兵器的人見 掃羅 已死，也伏在刀上死了。
5And when his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell upon his sword, and died.
6這樣， 掃羅 和他三個兒子，並他的全家都一同死亡。
6So Saul died, and his three sons; and all his house died together.
7住平原的 以色列 眾人見 以色列 軍兵逃跑， 掃羅 和他兒子都死了，也就棄城逃跑， 非利士 人便來住在其中。
7And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8次日， 非利士 人來剝那被殺之人的衣服，看見 掃羅 和他兒子仆倒在 基利波山 ，
8And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
9就剝了他的軍裝，割下他的首級，打發人到 非利士 地的四境報信與他們的偶像和眾民，
9And they stripped him, and took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry the tidings unto their idols, and to the people.
10又將 掃羅 的軍裝放在他們神的廟裏，將他的首級釘在 大袞 廟中。
10And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.
11基列‧雅比 人聽見 非利士 人向 掃羅 所行的一切事，
11And when all Jabesh-gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
12他們中間所有的勇士就起身前去，將 掃羅 和他兒子的屍身送到 雅比 ，將他們的屍骨葬在 雅比 的橡樹下，就禁食七日。
12all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the terebinth in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13這樣， 掃羅 死了。因為他干犯耶和華，沒有遵守耶和華的命；又因他求問交鬼的婦人，
13So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD, which he kept not; and also for that he asked counsel of a ghost, to inquire thereby,
14沒有求問耶和華，所以耶和華使他被殺，把國歸於 耶西 的兒子 大衛 。
14and inquired not of the LORD; therefore He slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
