1大衛 與千夫長、百夫長，就是一切首領商議。
1And David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader.
2大衛 對 以色列 全會眾說：「你們若以為美，見這事是出於耶和華－我們的上帝，我們就差遣人走遍 以色列 地，見我們未來的弟兄，又見住在有郊野之城的祭司 利未 人，使他們都到這裏來聚集。
2And David said unto all the assembly of Israel: 'If it seem good unto you, and if it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad everywhere unto our brethren that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites that are in their cities that have open land about them, that they may gather themselves unto us;
3我們要把上帝的 約 櫃運到我們這裏來；因為在 掃羅 年間，我們沒有在 約 櫃前求問 上帝 。」
3and let us bring back the ark of our God to us; for we sought not unto it in the days of Saul.'
4全會眾都說可以如此行；這事在眾民眼中都看為好。
4And all the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5於是， 大衛 將 以色列 人從 埃及 的 西曷河 直到 哈馬口 都招聚了來，要從 基列‧耶琳 將上帝的 約 櫃運來。
5So David assembled all Israel together, from Shihor the brook of Egypt even unto the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
6大衛 率領 以色列 眾人上到 巴拉 ，就是屬 猶大 的 基列‧耶琳 ，要從那裏將 約 櫃運來。這 約 櫃就是坐在二基路伯上耶和華上帝留名的 約 櫃。
6And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, the LORD that sitteth upon the cherubim, whereon is called the Name.
7他們將上帝的 約 櫃從 亞比拿達 的家裏抬出來，放在新車上。 烏撒 和 亞希約 趕車。
7And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab; and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.
8大衛 和 以色列 眾人在上帝前用琴、瑟、鑼、鼓、號作樂，極力跳舞歌唱。
8And David and all Israel played before God with all their might; even with songs, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9到了 基頓 的禾場；因為牛失前蹄， 烏撒 就伸手扶住 約 櫃。
9And when they came unto the threshing-floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10耶和華向他發怒，因他伸手扶住 約 櫃擊殺他，他就死在上帝面前。
10And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and He smote him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.
11大衛 因耶和華擊殺 烏撒 ，心裏愁煩，就稱那地方為 毗列斯‧烏撒 ，直到今日。
11And David was displeased, because the LORD had broken forth upon Uzza; and that place was called Perez-uzza unto this day.
12那日， 大衛 懼怕上帝，說：「上帝的 約 櫃怎可運到我這裏來？」
12And David was afraid of God that day, saying: 'How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?'
13於是 大衛 不將 約 櫃運進 大衛 的城，卻運到 迦特 人 俄別‧以東 的家中。
13So David removed not the ark unto him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14上帝的 約 櫃在 俄別‧以東 家中三個月，耶和華賜福給 俄別‧以東 的家和他一切所有的。
14And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months; and the LORD blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he had.
