1Tedy odpovídaje Bildad Suchský, řekl:
1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2Panování a hrůza Boží působí pokoj na výsostech jeho.
2Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places.
3Zdaliž jest počet vojskům jeho? A nad kým nevzchází světlo jeho?
3Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise?
4Jakž by tedy spravedliv býti mohl bídný člověk před Bohem silným, aneb jak čist býti narozený z ženy?
4How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
5Hle, ani měsíc nesvítil by, ani hvězdy nebyly by čisté před očima jeho,
5Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.
6Nadto pak smrtelný člověk, jsa jako červ, a syn člověka, jako hmyz.
6How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?
