1Additionally, David and the commanders of the army set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy with the accompaniment of lyres, harps, and cymbals. The following is the list of the men who performed this service:
1ויבדל דויד ושרי הצבא לעבדה לבני אסף והימן וידותון הנביאים בכנרות בנבלים ובמצלתים ויהי מספרם אנשי מלאכה לעבדתם׃
2From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.
2לבני אסף זכור ויוסף ונתניה ואשראלה בני אסף על יד אסף הנבא על ידי המלך׃
3From the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah—six in all—under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, giving thanks and praise to the LORD.
3לידותון בני ידותון גדליהו וצרי וישעיהו חשביהו ומתתיהו ששה על ידי אביהם ידותון בכנור הנבא על הדות והלל ליהוה׃
4From the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.
4להימן בני הימן בקיהו מתניהו עזיאל שבואל וירימות חנניה חנני אליאתה גדלתי ורממתי עזר ישבקשה מלותי הותיר מחזיאות׃
5All these sons of Heman the king’s seer were given him through the promises of God to exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
5כל אלה בנים להימן חזה המלך בדברי האלהים להרים קרן ויתן האלהים להימן בנים ארבעה עשר ובנות שלוש׃
6All these were under the direction of their fathers for the music of the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.
6כל אלה על ידי אביהם בשיר בית יהוה במצלתים נבלים וכנרות לעבדת בית האלהים על ידי המלך אסף וידותון והימן׃
7Together with their relatives, who were all trained and skillful in the songs of the LORD, they numbered 288.
7ויהי מספרם עם אחיהם מלמדי שיר ליהוה כל המבין מאתים שמונים ושמונה׃
8They cast lots for their duties, young and old alike, teacher as well as pupil.
8ויפילו גורלות משמרת לעמת כקטן כגדול מבין עם תלמיד׃
9The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all; the second to Gedaliah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
9ויצא הגורל הראשון לאסף ליוסף גדליהו השני הוא ואחיו ובניו שנים עשר׃
10the third to Zaccur, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
10השלשי זכור בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
11the fourth to Izri, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
11הרביעי ליצרי בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
12the fifth to Nethaniah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
12החמישי נתניהו בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
13the sixth to Bukkiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
13הששי בקיהו בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
14the seventh to Jesarelah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
14השבעי ישראלה בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
15the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
15השמיני ישעיהו בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
16the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
16התשיעי מתניהו בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
17the tenth to Shimei, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
17העשירי שמעי בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
18the eleventh to Azarel, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
18עשתי עשר עזראל בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
19the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
19השנים עשר לחשביה בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
20the thirteenth to Shubael, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
20לשלשה עשר שובאל בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
21the fourteenth to Mattithiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
21לארבעה עשר מתתיהו בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
22the fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
22לחמשה עשר לירמות בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
23the sixteenth to Hananiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
23לששה עשר לחנניהו בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
24the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
24לשבעה עשר לישבקשה בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
25the eighteenth to Hanani, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
25לשמונה עשר לחנני בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
26the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
26לתשעה עשר למלותי בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
27the twentieth to Eliathah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
27לעשרים לאליתה בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
28the twenty-first to Hothir, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
28לאחד ועשרים להותיר בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
29the twenty-second to Giddalti, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
29לשנים ועשרים לגדלתי בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
30the twenty-third to Mahazioth, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
30לשלשה ועשרים למחזיאות בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
31and the twenty-fourth to Romamti-ezer, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all.
31לארבעה ועשרים לרוממתי עזר בניו ואחיו שנים עשר׃
