1И рече Валам Валаку: Начини ми овде седам олтара, и приправи ми овде седам телаца и седам овнова.
1And Balaam said unto Balak: 'Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.'
2И учини Валак како му рече Валам; и принесе Валак с Валамом на сваком олтару по једно теле и овна.
2And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.
3Па рече Валам Валаку: Стој код своје жртве паљенице; а ја идем еда бих се срео с Господом, па шта ми јави казаћу ти. И он отиде сам.
3And Balaam said unto Balak: 'Stand by thy burnt-offering, and I will go; peradventure the LORD will come to meet me; and whatsoever He showeth me I will tell thee.' And he went to a bare height.
4И срете Бог Валама, а он му рече: Седам олтара спремних, и принесох по теле и овна на сваком олтару.
4And God met Balaam; and he said unto Him: 'I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.'
5А Господ метну речи у уста Валаму, и рече врати се к Валаку и тако му реци.
5And the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said: 'Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.'
6И врати се к њему, а он стајаше код жртве своје паљенице и сви кнезови моавски.
6And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt-offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.
7А он отвори причу своју, и рече: Из Арама доведе ме Валак, цар моавски с планине источне, говорећи: Ходи, прокуни ми Јакова, ходи, наружи Израиља.
7And he took up his parable, and said: From Aram Balak bringeth me, the king of Moab from the mountains of the East: 'Come, curse me Jacob, and come, execrate Israel.'
8Како бих клео оног кога не куне Бог? Или како бих ружио оног кога Господ не ружи?
8How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? And how shall I execrate, whom the LORD hath not execrated?
9Јер сврх стена видим га, и с хумова гледам га. Гле, овај ће народ наставати сам, и с другим народима неће се помешати.
9For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, it is a people that shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.
10Ко ће избројати прах Јаковљев и број од четврти Израиља? Да бих ја умро смрћу праведничком, и крај мој да би био као њихов!
10Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, or numbered the stock of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let mine end be like his!
11Тада рече Валак Валаму: Шта то радиш од мене? Ја те дозвах да прокунеш непријатеље моје, а гле, ти благосиљаш једнако.
11And Balak said unto Balaam: 'What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.'
12А он одговори и рече: Зар нећу пазити и говорити оно што ми је Господ метнуо у уста?
12And he answered and said: 'Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD putteth in my mouth?'
13Тада му рече Валак: Ходи са мном на друго место, одакле ћеш га видети; само му крај видиш, а свега га не видиш; прокуни ми га оданде.
13And Balak said unto him: 'Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them; thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all; and curse me them from thence.'
14И доведе га у поље Зофим, наврх Фазге, и начини седам олтара, и принесе на сваком олтару по једно теле и овна.
14And he took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.
15Тада Валам рече Валаку: Стој ту код жртве своје паљенице, а ја идем онамо на сусрет Господу.
15And he said unto Balak: 'Stand here by thy burnt-offering, while I go toward a meeting yonder.'
16И срете Господ Валама, и метну му реч у уста, и рече: Врати се к Валаку, и тако говори.
16And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said: 'Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.'
17И дође к њему, а он стајаше код жртве своје паљенице и с њим кнезови моавски; и рече Валак: Шта вели Господ?
17And he came to him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him: 'What hath the LORD spoken?'
18А он отвори причу своју, и рече: Устани Валаче, и послушај, чуј ме сине Сефоров!
18And he took up his parable, and said: Arise, Balak, and hear; give ear unto me, thou son of Zippor:
19Бог није човек да лаже, ни син човечји да се покаје. Шта каже неће ли учинити, и шта рече неће ли извршити?
19God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: when He hath said, will He not do it? or when He hath spoken, will He not make it good?
20Гле, примих да благословим; јер је Он благословио, а ја нећу порећи.
20Behold, I am bidden to bless; and when He hath blessed, I cannot call it back.
21Не гледа на безакоње у Јакову ни на неваљалство у Израиљу; Господ је његов с њим, и граја у њему као цар кад надвлада.
21None hath beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath one seen perverseness in Israel; the LORD his God is with him, and the shouting for the King is among them.
22Бог га је извео из Мисира, Он му је као снага једнорогова.
22God who brought them forth out of Egypt is for them like the lofty horns of the wild-ox.
23Јер нема чини на Јакова ни врачања на Израиља; у ово доба говориће се о Јакову и о Израиљу, што је учинио Бог.
23For there is no enchantment with Jacob, neither is there any divination with Israel; now is it said of Jacob and of Israel: 'What hath God wrought!'
24Ево, народ ће устати као силан лав, и као лавић скочиће; неће лећи докле не поједе лов и попије крв побијених.
24Behold a people that riseth up as a lioness, and as a lion doth he lift himself up; he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.
25Тада рече Валак Валаму: Немој га ни клети ни благосиљати.
25And Balak said unto Balaam: 'Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.'
26А Валам одговори Валаку: Нисам ли ти казао да ћу чинити шта ми год Господ каже?
26But Balaam answered and said unto Balak: 'Told not I thee, saying: All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?'
27А Валак рече Валаму: Ходи, одвешћу те на друго место; да ако Богу буде воља да ми га оданде прокунеш.
27And Balak said unto Balaam: 'Come now, I will take thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.'
28И одведе Валак Валама наврх Фегора, који гледа у пустињу.
28And Balak took Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh down upon the desert.
29И рече Валам Валаку: Начини ми овде седам олтара, и приправи ми овде седам телаца и седам овнова.
29And Balaam said unto Balak: 'Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.'
30И учини Валак како рече Валам и принесе жртву по теле и овна на сваком олтару.
30And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.
