Bible Mutal (Kosraean)
JPS Tanakh (Jewish Publication Society, 1917)
1Nimet konkin ke ma kom ako in oru lutu, mweyen kom tia etu lah mea ac sikyak ingela.
1Boast not thyself of to-morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
2Lela mwet ngia in kaksakin kom — finne sie mwet kom tia etu. Nimet sifacna kaksakin kom.
2Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
3Toasr lun eot ac puk uh tia ku in lumweyuk nu ke toasr lun mwe lokoalok ma sie mwet lalfon el sripauk.
3A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's vexation is heavier than they both.
4Kasrkusrak el sulallal ac orala ongoiya lulap, tusruktu tia apkuran nu ke lemta!
4Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy?
5Wo in aksuwosye sie mwet lemtulauk, liki na in fuhlela elan nunku mu wangin nunak lom kacl.
5Better is open rebuke than love that is hidden.
6Sie mwet kawuk el nunak pwaye nu sum el finne kai kom, a kom in taran sie mwet lokoalok su akukula nu sum.
6Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are importunate.
7Pacl se kom kihpi uh kom ac srunga kang honey, tusruktu pacl kom masrinsral, finne mongo mukol ac emwem sum.
7The full soul loatheth a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8Sie mwet su muta loes liki acn sel oana sie won ma som loes liki ahng lal.
8As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
9Ono keng ac mwe akmusra keng uh mwe akinsewowoye kom, a mwe lokoalok uh kunausla inse misla lom.
9Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
10Nimet mulkunla mwet kawuk lom ku kawuk lun papa tomom. Kom fin sun ongoiya, nimet siyuk tamulel lom in kasrekom; sie mwet tulan su muta apkuran nu yurum ku in kasrekom liki sie tamulel su muta loesla.
10Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity; better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
11Tulik nutik, kom in lalmwetmet ac nga fah arulana engan; nga fah ku in topuk mwet nukewa su akkolukyeyu.
11My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that taunteth me.
12Ke pacl se mwe lokoalok tuku, mwet etu elos ac fahsr liki; a sie mwet wangin nunak la ac fahsryang nu kac, na toko el auli.
12A prudent man seeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the thoughtless pass on, and are punished.
13Sie mwet su wulela in fosrngakin soemoul lun sie mwetsac, el enenu in sang nuknuk lal sifacna in mwe akpwaye nu ke soemoul el wuleang kac.
13Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and hold him in pledge that is surety for an alien woman.
14Kom fin sala okasak mwet kawuk lom ke sie pusra lulap ke lututang, ac fah oana kom in filiya sie selnga nu facl.
14He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
15Sie mutan payuk su lungsena torkaskas, el oana pusren tultul in kof ke len af uh.
15A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike;
16Kom ac oru fuka elan misla? Ya nu oasr pacl kom srike in tulokinya eng uh, ku sruokya mwe akmusra luin poum?
16He that would hide her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand betrayeth itself.
17Mwet uh alutluti sie sin sie, oana ke osra uh ac sang tamla osra.
17Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
18Kom fin karingin soko sak fig, kom ac fah kang fahko kac. Sie mwet kulansap su karingin mwet kacto lal, fah akfulatyeyuk.
18Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
19Ngunin motom sifacna pa kom liye in kof uh, ac insiom pa fahkak ouiyom sifacna.
19As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
20Kena lun mwet uh tia ku in safla — oana ke facl lun mwet misa tia ku in nwanala.
20The nether-world and Destruction are never satiated; so the eyes of man are never satiated.
21E uh pa likliki gold ac silver; ac elahn sie mwet kalem ke kaksak lun mwet uh.
21The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, and a man is tried by his praise.
22Kom finne sringil sie mwet lalfon nwe ke el apkuran in misa, kom tia ku in sisla lalfon lal.
22Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle among groats, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
23Karinganang sheep ac nani nutum akwoya,
23Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds;
24mweyen mwe kasrup uh sukawil. Finne mutunfacl lulap uh, ac tia oan nwe tok.
24For riches are not for ever; and doth the crown endure unto all generations?
25Pakela mah nun sheep ac nani uh, ac ke kom soano in sifil srunak, kom ku in eisani mah pe eol uh.
25When the hay is mown, and the tender grass showeth itself, and the herbs of the mountains are gathered in;
26Kom ku in orala nuknuk ke unen sheep nutum, ac moul acn ke mani kom sruokya ke nani ma kom kukakunla.
26The lambs will be for thy clothing, and the goats the price for a field.
27Na kom, ac sou lom wi mutan kulansap lom, fah ku in nim milk ke nani lula uh.
27And there will be goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household; and maintenance for thy maidens.
