1(38-1) A Psalm of David, to make memorial. (38-2) O LORD, rebuke me not in Thine anger; neither chasten me in Thy wrath.
1E IEHOVA, mai hoopai mai oe ia'u me kou huhu; Mai hahau mai ia'u me kou inaina nui.
2(38-3) For Thine arrows are gone deep into me, and Thy hand is come down upon me.
2No ka mea, ua haule mai kou mau pua maluna o'u, A ua kaomi ikaika mai kou lima ia'u.
3(38-4) There is no soundness in my flesh because of Thine indignation; neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.
3Aole maikai ko'u io no kou huhu; Aole maha iloko o ko'u mau iwi no ko'u hewa.
4(38-5) For mine iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
4No ka mea, ua kaa ae kuu mau hewa maluna o kuu poo; Me he mea kaumaha la, ua kaumaha loa ia ia'u.
5(38-6) My wounds are noisome, they fester, because of my foolishness.
5Ua pilau ko'u mau eha, ua palahehe, No ko'u naaupo ana.
6(38-7) I am bent and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day.
6Ua pilikia au, ua kulou loa au ilalo; E u hele ana a po ka la.
7(38-8) For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh.
7Ua paapu ko'u mau puhaka i ka wela; Aohe wahi ola iloko o ko'u io.
8(38-9) I am benumbed and sore crushed; I groan by reason of the moaning of my heart.
8Nawaliwali au, ua pope loa: Auwe aku la au no ka ikiki o ko'u naau.
9(38-10) Lord, all my desire is before Thee; and my sighing is not hid from Thee.
9E ka Haku, imua o kou alo ko'u makemake a pau; Aole i hunaia ia oe kuu auwe ana.
10(38-11) My heart fluttereth, my strength faileth me; as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
10Ua naenae ko'u naau, ua maule kuu ikaika; O ka malamalama o kuu mau maka, ua haalele hoi ia ia'u.
11(38-12) My friends and my companions stand aloof from my plague; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
11O ko'u poe hoaaloha a me ko'u mau makamaka, ua ku mamao aku lakou i ka'u pilikia; A ua ku aku ko'u mau hoahanau ma kahi loihi.
12(38-13) They also that seek after my life lay snares for me; and they that seek my hurt speak crafty devices, and utter deceits all the day.
12O ka poe kii mai i kuu uhane, hoomoe lakou i na pahele: A o ka poe imi i mea e poino ai au, ke olelo nei lakou i na mea hewa; Noonoo hoi lakou ma ka hoopunipuni a po ka la,
13(38-14) But I am as a deaf man, I hear not; and I am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
13Aka, me he kuli la, aole au i hoolohe aku; E like hoi me ke kanaka leo ole, i ekemu ole kona waha.
14(38-15) Yea, I am become as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no arguments.
14Pela hoi au e like me ke kanaka lohe ole, A iloko o kona waha aole ka hoopaapaa ana.
15(38-16) For in Thee, O LORD, do I hope; Thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.
15No ka mea, ke manaolana aku nei au ia oe, e Iehova; E hoolohe no hoi oe, e ka Haku ko'u Akua:
16(38-17) For I said: 'Lest they rejoice over me; when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.'
16No ka mea, ua olelo au, O hauoli mai lakou maluna o'u: I ke kapeke ana o kuu wawae, haanui ku e lakou ia'u.
17(38-18) For I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.
17No ka mea, kokoke au e hina, Ke waiho mau nei ko'u kaumaha imua o'u.
18(38-19) For I do declare mine iniquity; I am full of care because of my sin.
18No ka mea, e hai aku no au i kuu hewa, A e ehaeha hoi au no ko'u lawehala ana.
19(38-20) But mine enemies are strong in health; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
19A o ko'u mau enemi e ola ana ua ikaika lakou; A ua lehulehu mai la ka poe inaina hewa mai ia'u.
20(38-21) They also that repay evil for good are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.
20O ka poe hoihoi i ka hewa no ka pono ua ku e mai lakou ia'u, No ko'u hahai ana i ka pono.
21(38-22) Forsake me not, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me.
21Mai noho a haalele mai ia'u, e Iehova; E kuu Akua, mai noho a mamao aku ia'u.
22(38-23) Make haste to help me, O LORD, my salvation.
22E wiki mai i ke kokua ia'u, E kuu Moi kuu mea e ola'i.
