1And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
1เมื่อพระยาห์เวห์กำลังจะรับเอลียาห์ขึ้นสู่สวรรค์ด้วยลมหมุน เอลียาห์กับเอลีชาออกจากกิลกาลด้วยกัน
2And Elijah said unto Elisha: 'Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me as far as Beth-el.' And Elisha said: 'As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee.' So they went down to Beth-el. —
2เอลียาห์พูดกับเอลีชาว่า “โปรดอยู่ที่นี่เถิด เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ส่งข้าพเจ้าไปถึงเบธเอล” เอลีชาตอบว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่จริง และท่านก็มีชีวิตอยู่จริง ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่จากท่านไป” แล้วทั้งสองก็ลงไปยังเบธเอล
3And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him: 'Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to-day?' And he said: 'Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.' —
3เหล่าศิษย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะที่เบธเอลออกมาหาเอลีชาและพูดกับเขาว่า “ท่านรู้หรือไม่ว่า วันนี้พระยาห์เวห์จะรับอาจารย์ของท่านไปจากท่าน?” เขาตอบว่า “รู้ ข้าพเจ้ารู้แล้ว เงียบไว้เถิด”
4And Elijah said unto him: 'Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho.' And he said: 'As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee.' So they came to Jericho. —
4เอลียาห์พูดกับเขาว่า “เอลีชา โปรดอยู่ที่นี่เถิด เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ส่งข้าพเจ้าไปเยรีโค” เขาตอบว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่จริง และท่านก็มีชีวิตอยู่จริง ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่จากท่านไป” แล้วทั้งสองก็มาถึงเยรีโค
5And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said unto him: 'Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to-day?' And he answered: 'Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.' —
5เหล่าศิษย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะที่เยรีโคเข้ามาหาเอลีชาและพูดกับเขาว่า “ท่านรู้หรือไม่ว่า วันนี้พระยาห์เวห์จะรับอาจารย์ของท่านไปจากท่าน?” เขาตอบว่า “รู้ ข้าพเจ้ารู้แล้ว เงียบไว้เถิด”
6And Elijah said unto him: 'Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to the Jordan.' And he said: 'As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee.' And they two went on.
6เอลียาห์พูดกับเขาว่า “โปรดอยู่ที่นี่เถิด เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ส่งข้าพเจ้าไปแม่น้ำจอร์แดน” เขาตอบว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่จริง และท่านก็มีชีวิตอยู่จริง ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่จากท่านไป” แล้วทั้งสองก็เดินต่อไป
7And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood over against them afar off; and they two stood by the Jordan.
7ชายห้าสิบคนจากเหล่าศิษย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะตามไปและยืนอยู่ห่าง ๆ ตรงข้ามกับทั้งสองคน ส่วนเอลียาห์กับเอลีชายืนอยู่ริมแม่น้ำจอร์แดน
8And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
8เอลียาห์เอาเสื้อคลุมของตนมาม้วน แล้วฟาดลงบนผิวน้ำ น้ำก็แยกออกไปคนละด้าน ทั้งสองจึงข้ามไปบนพื้นแห้ง
9And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha: 'Ask what I shall do for thee, before I am taken from thee.' And Elisha said: 'I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.'
9เมื่อข้ามไปแล้ว เอลียาห์พูดกับเอลีชาว่า “จงขอมาเถิดว่าอยากให้ข้าพเจ้าทำอะไรให้เจ้า ก่อนที่ข้าพเจ้าจะถูกรับไปจากเจ้า” เอลีชาตอบว่า “ขอให้ข้าพเจ้าได้รับส่วนแบ่งจากจิตวิญญาณของท่านเป็นสองเท่า”
10And he said: 'Thou hast asked a hard thing; nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.'
10เอลียาห์ตอบว่า “เจ้าขอสิ่งที่ยาก หากเจ้าเห็นข้าพเจ้าตอนที่ข้าพเจ้าถูกรับไปจากเจ้า เจ้าจะได้รับตามที่ขอ แต่ถ้าเจ้าไม่เห็น ก็จะไม่ได้”
11And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, which parted them both assunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
11ขณะที่ทั้งสองเดินและพูดคุยกันต่อไป ดูสิ มีรถรบเพลิงคันหนึ่งกับม้าเพลิงมาแยกทั้งสองคนออกจากกัน แล้วเอลียาห์ก็ขึ้นสู่สวรรค์ด้วยลมหมุน
12And Elisha saw it, and he cried: 'My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof!' And he saw him no more; and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
12เอลีชาเห็นเหตุการณ์นั้นจึงร้องว่า “บิดาของข้าพเจ้า บิดาของข้าพเจ้า รถรบของอิสราเอลและพลม้าของอิสราเอล!” แล้วเขาก็ไม่เห็นเอลียาห์อีก เอลีชาจึงจับเสื้อผ้าของตนฉีกออกเป็นสองชิ้น
13He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
13เขาหยิบเสื้อคลุมของเอลียาห์ที่ตกลงมาจากตัวเอลียาห์ขึ้น แล้วกลับไปยืนที่ริมแม่น้ำจอร์แดน
14And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said: 'Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?' and when he also had smitten the waters, they were divided hither and thither; and Elisha went over.
14เขาเอาเสื้อคลุมของเอลียาห์ที่ตกลงมานั้นฟาดลงบนผิวน้ำ แล้วพูดว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของเอลียาห์ อยู่ที่ไหน?” น้ำก็แยกออกจากกัน และเอลีชาก็ข้ามไป
15And when the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho some way off saw him, they said: 'The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha.' And they came to meet him, and bowed down to the ground before him.
15เมื่อเหล่าศิษย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะที่เยรีโคซึ่งอยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามเห็นเขา พวกเขาพูดว่า “จิตวิญญาณของเอลียาห์มาอยู่กับเอลีชาแล้ว” แล้วพวกเขาก็มาพบเอลีชาและก้มกราบลงกับพื้นต่อหน้าเขา
16And they said unto him: 'Behold now, there are with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master; lest peradventure the spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley.' And he said: 'Ye shall not send.'
16พวกเขาพูดกับเขาว่า “ดูสิ ในหมู่ผู้รับใช้ของท่านมีชายแข็งแรงห้าสิบคน โปรดให้พวกเขาไปตามหาอาจารย์ของท่านเถิด บางทีพระวิญญาณของพระยาห์เวห์อาจยกเขาขึ้นแล้ววางไว้บนภูเขาลูกใดลูกหนึ่งหรือในหุบเขาแห่งใดแห่งหนึ่ง” เขาตอบว่า “อย่าส่งไปเลย”
17And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said: 'Send.' They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
17แต่พวกเขารบเร้าเขาจนเอลีชารู้สึกกระดากใจ เขาจึงพูดว่า “ส่งไปเถิด” พวกเขาจึงส่งชายห้าสิบคนไปค้นหาอยู่สามวัน แต่ก็ไม่พบเอลียาห์
18And they came back to him, while he tarried at Jericho; and he said unto them: 'Did I not say unto you: Go not?'
18พวกเขากลับมาหาเอลีชาขณะที่เขายังอยู่ที่เยรีโค เขาจึงพูดว่า “ข้าพเจ้าบอกแล้วไม่ใช่หรือว่า ‘อย่าไป’?”
19And the men of the city said unto Elisha: 'Behold, we pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth; but the water is bad, and the land miscarrieth.
19ชาวเมืองพูดกับเอลีชาว่า “ดูสิ ทำเลของเมืองนี้ดีอย่างที่ท่านเห็น แต่น้ำไม่ดีและแผ่นดินไม่เกิดผล”
20And he said: 'Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein.' And they brought it to him.
20เขาพูดว่า “เอาโถใบใหม่มาให้ข้าพเจ้า แล้วใส่เกลือลงไป” พวกเขาจึงนำมาให้
21And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast salt therein, and said: 'Thus saith the LORD: I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or miscarrying.'
21เอลีชาออกไปที่ตาน้ำ โยนเกลือลงไป แล้วพูดว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า ‘เราได้รักษาน้ำนี้แล้ว จากนี้ไปน้ำนี้จะไม่ทำให้มีคนตายหรือทำให้แผ่นดินไม่เกิดผลอีก’”
22So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
22น้ำนั้นจึงได้รับการรักษาจนถึงทุกวันนี้ ตามคำที่เอลีชากล่าวไว้
23And he went up from thence unto Beth-el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him: 'Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.'
23เอลีชาขึ้นจากที่นั่นไปยังเบธเอล ขณะที่กำลังเดินขึ้นไปตามทาง มีเด็กหนุ่มบางคนออกมาจากเมืองและเยาะเย้ยเขาว่า “ขึ้นไปสิ เจ้าหัวล้าน! ขึ้นไปสิ เจ้าหัวล้าน!”
24And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tore forty and two children of them.
24เขาหันกลับไปมองพวกนั้นและสาปแช่งพวกเขาในพระนามของพระยาห์เวห์ แล้วมีหมีตัวเมียสองตัวออกมาจากป่าและขย้ำเด็กหนุ่มเหล่านั้นสี่สิบสองคน
25And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
25เอลีชาไปจากที่นั่นยังภูเขาคารเมล แล้วจากที่นั่นก็กลับไปสะมาเรีย
