1モアブについて。イスラエルの神、万軍の主はこう言われる。 「ネボに災いがある。 それは荒らされた。 キルヤタイムは辱められ、 占領された。 ミスガブ は辱められ、 打ち壊された。
1Of Moab. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled; Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken; Misgab is put to shame and dismayed.
2モアブの誉れは、もはやない。 ヘシュボンで、人々は彼女に災いを企てた。 『来い。彼女を国でなくしてしまおう。』 マデメンよ、あなたも沈黙させられる。 剣があなたを追う。
2The praise of Moab is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: 'Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation.' Thou also, O Madmen, shalt be brought to silence; the sword shall pursue thee.
3ホロナイムから叫び声がする。 荒廃と大いなる破壊の声だ。
3Hark! a cry from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction!
4モアブは打ち砕かれた。 その幼子たちの叫び声が聞こえる。
4Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.
5人々はルヒテの坂を、 泣き続けながら上る。 ホロナイムへの下り坂で、 破壊を嘆く苦しい叫び声を聞くからだ。
5For by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping shall they go up; for in the going down of Horonaim they have heard the distressing cry of destruction.
6逃げよ。自分の命を救え。 荒野の灌木のようになれ。
6Flee, save your lives, and be like a tamarisk in the wilderness.
7あなたは自分の行いと宝に信頼したので、 あなたも捕らえられる。 ケモシュは捕囚となって行く。 その祭司たちと高官たちもともに。
7For, because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be taken; and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together.
8破壊する者がすべての町に来る。 逃れられる町は一つもない。 谷は滅び、 平地は破壊される。 主が語られたとおりである。
8And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed; as the LORD hath spoken.
9モアブに翼を与えよ。 飛び去ることができるように。 その町々は荒れ果て、 住む者がいなくなる。
9Give wings unto Moab, for she must fly and get away; and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell therein.
10主の業を怠って行う者は呪われる。 剣を血に染めることを控える者も呪われる。
10Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD with a slack hand, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.
11モアブは若いころから安らかで、 澱の上に落ち着いていた。 器から器へ移し替えられず、 捕囚に行ったこともない。 それゆえ、その味は彼の中に残り、 その香りも変わらなかった。
11Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity; therefore his taste remaineth in him, and his scent is not changed.
12それゆえ、見よ、その日々が来る」と、主は言われる。 「その時、わたしは彼のもとに酒を移し替える者たちを送る。 彼らは彼を移し替え、 その器を空にし、 つぼを打ち砕く。
12Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him them that tilt up, and they shall tilt him up; and they shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles in pieces.
13モアブはケモシュのことで恥を受ける。 イスラエルの家が、自分たちの頼みであったベテルのために恥を受けたように。
13And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.
14どうしてあなたがたは、 『私たちは勇士、戦いに強い者だ』と言えるのか。
14How say ye: 'We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war'?
15モアブは荒らされ、 その町々には敵が攻め上った。 その選り抜きの若者たちは、屠られるために下って行った」と、 万軍の主という名を持つ王は言われる。
15Moab is spoiled, and they are gone up into her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
16「モアブの災いは近づき、 その苦難は急速に迫っている。
16The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.
17その周囲にいる者たちよ、皆、彼のために嘆け。 その名を知る者たちよ、皆、こう言え。 『ああ、強い杖が、 美しい杖が折られた。』
17Bemoan him, all ye that are round about him, and all ye that know his name; say: 'How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!'
18ディボンに住む娘よ、 栄光の座から下り、 乾いた地に座れ。 モアブを破壊する者があなたに攻め上り、 あなたの要塞を滅ぼしたからだ。
18O thou daughter that dwellest in Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab is come up against thee, he hath destroyed thy strongholds.
19アロエルの住民よ、 道端に立って見張れ。 逃げて来る男と逃れた女に、 『何が起こったのか』と尋ねよ。
19O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and watch; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth; say: 'What hath been done?'
20モアブは辱められた。 打ち砕かれたからだ。 泣き叫べ。叫べ。 アルノン川のほとりで、 モアブが荒らされたと告げよ。
20Moab is put to shame, for it is dismayed; wail and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled.
21裁きが平地に臨んだ。 ホロン、ヤハツ、メファアテに、
21And judgment is come upon the country of the Plain; upon Holon, and upon Jahzah, and upon Mephaath;
22ディボン、ネボ、ベテ・ディブラタイムに、
22and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim;
23キルヤタイム、ベテ・ガムル、ベテ・メオンに、
23and upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon;
24ケリヨテ、ボツラ、 また、遠く近くにあるモアブの地のすべての町々に。
24and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
25モアブの角は切り落とされ、 その腕は折られた」と、主は言われる。
25The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.
26「彼を酔わせよ。 彼が主に向かって高ぶったからだ。 モアブは自分の吐いたものの中を転げ回り、 彼自身もあざけりの的となる。
26Make ye him drunken, for he magnified himself against the LORD; and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
27イスラエルはあなたにとって、あざけりの的ではなかったか。 彼は盗人たちの中で見つかったのか。 あなたは彼のことを語るたびに、 頭を振った。
27For was not Israel a derision unto thee? Was he found among thieves? For as often as thou speakest of him, thou waggest the head.
28モアブの住民よ、町々を離れ、 岩の間に住め。 深い谷の口の上に巣を作る 鳩のようになれ。
28O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock; and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the pit's mouth.
29われわれはモアブの高ぶりを聞いた。 彼は非常に高ぶっている。 その高慢、誇り、傲慢、 心の高ぶりを。
29We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his haughtiness, and the assumption of his heart.
30わたしは彼の憤りを知っている」と、主は言われる。 「それは空しい。 彼の大言は何も成し遂げなかった。
30I know his arrogancy, saith the LORD, that it is ill-founded; his boastings have wrought nothing well-founded.

31Therefore will I wail for Moab; yea, I will cry out for all Moab; for the men of Kir-heres shall my heart moan.
32シブマのぶどうの木よ、 わたしはヤゼルのために泣くよりも激しく、あなたのために泣く。 あなたの枝は海を越え、 ヤゼルの海にまで達した。 破壊する者が、あなたの夏の果物と、 ぶどうの収穫に襲いかかった。
32With more than the weeping of Jazer will I weep for thee, O vine of Sibmah; thy branches passed over the sea, they reached even to the sea of Jazer; upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage the spoiler is fallen.
33喜びと楽しみは、 実り豊かな畑とモアブの地から取り去られた。 わたしは酒ぶねからぶどう酒を絶えさせた。 喜び叫びながら踏む者はいない。 その叫びは喜びの叫びではない。
33And gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to cease from the winepresses; none shall tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.
34ヘシュボンからエルアレまで、 ヤハツにまで彼らは声を上げる。 ツォアルからホロナイム、 エグラテ・シェリシヤにまで。 ニムリムの水も荒れ果てるからだ。
34From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, even unto Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, a heifer of three years old; for the Waters of Nimrim also shall be desolate.
35わたしはモアブから、高き所でささげ物をする者と、 自分の神々に香をたく者を絶えさせる」と、主は言われる。
35Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high place, and him that offereth to his gods.
36「それゆえ、わたしの心はモアブのために笛のように鳴り、 キル・ヘレスの人々のために笛のように鳴る。 彼らが得た豊かなものが滅びたからだ。
36Therefore my heart moaneth for Moab like pipes, and my heart moaneth like pipes for the men of Kir-heres; therefore the abundance that he hath gotten is perished.
37すべての頭はそられ、 すべてのひげは切り落とされる。 すべての手には傷があり、 腰には粗布がある。
37For every head is bald, and every beard clipped; upon all the hands are cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
38モアブのすべての屋上と、 その広場の至る所に嘆きがある。 わたしがモアブを、 だれにも喜ばれない器のように砕いたからだ」と、主は言われる。
38On all the housetops of Moab and in the broad places thereof there is lamentation every where; for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.
39「ああ、モアブは打ち砕かれた。 人々は泣き叫ぶ。 モアブは恥じて背を向けた。 モアブはその周囲のすべての者にとって、 あざけりの的、恐怖の的となる。」
39'How is it broken down!' wail ye! 'How hath Moab turned the back with shame!' So shall Moab become a derision and a dismay to all that are round about him.
40主はこう言われる。 「見よ、敵は鷲のように飛び、 モアブに向かって翼を広げる。
40For thus saith the LORD: Behold, he shall swoop as a vulture, and shall spread out his wings against Moab.
41ケリヨテは占領され、 要塞は奪われた。 その日、モアブの勇士たちの心は、 産みの苦しみにある女の心のようになる。
41The cities are taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
42モアブは民でなくなるまで滅ぼされる。 主に向かって高ぶったからだ。
42And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.
43モアブの住民よ、 恐怖と穴と罠があなたを待っている」と、主は言われる。
43Terror, and the pit, and the trap, are upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.
44「恐怖から逃げる者は穴に落ち、 穴から上る者は罠に捕らえられる。 わたしがモアブに、 彼らが罰せられる年をもたらすからだ」と、主は言われる。
44He that fleeth from the terror shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the trap; for I will bring upon her, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
45「逃げた者たちは力尽き、 ヘシュボンの陰に立ち止まる。 ヘシュボンから火が出て、 シホンのただ中から炎が出たからだ。 それはモアブの隅と、 騒ぎ立つ者たちの頭の頂を食い尽くした。
45In the shadow of Heshbon the fugitives stand without strength; for a fire is gone forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and it devoureth the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
46モアブよ、あなたに災いがある。 ケモシュの民は滅びた。 あなたの息子たちは捕らわれて連れ去られ、 娘たちも捕囚となった。
46Woe unto thee, O Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone; for thy sons are taken away captive, and thy daughters into captivity.
47しかし、後の日々に、 わたしはモアブを捕囚から帰らせる」と、主は言われる。 ここまでがモアブへの裁きである。
47Yet will I turn the captivity of Moab in the end of days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
