1หกวันต่อมา พระเยซูพาเปโตร ยากอบ และยอห์น พี่น้องของยากอบ ขึ้นไปบนภูเขาสูงตามลำพัง
1And after six days Jesus taketh unto him Peter and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart:
2พระองค์เปลี่ยนรูปลักษณ์ ต่อหน้าพวกเขา ใบหน้าของพระองค์ส่องสว่างเหมือนดวงอาทิตย์ และเสื้อผ้าของพระองค์ก็ขาวเหมือนแสง
2And he was transfigured before them. And his face did shine as the sun: and his garments became white as snow.
3แล้วโมเสสกับเอลียาห์ก็ปรากฏแก่พวกเขา กำลังสนทนากับพระองค์
3And behold there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking with him.
4เปโตรกล่าวกับพระเยซูว่า “องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พวกเราอยู่ที่นี่ก็ดี ถ้าท่านต้องการ ให้พวกเราสร้างเต็นท์สามหลังที่นี่ หลังหนึ่งสำหรับท่าน หลังหนึ่งสำหรับโมเสส และอีกหลังหนึ่งสำหรับเอลียาห์”
4And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5And as he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them. And lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.
6เมื่อสาวกได้ยิน พวกเขาก็หมอบลงกับพื้น และกลัวอย่างยิ่ง
6And the disciples hearing, fell upon their face, and were very much afraid.
7พระเยซูเข้ามาแตะพวกเขา และกล่าวว่า “ลุกขึ้น อย่ากลัว”
7And Jesus came and touched them: and said to them, Arise, and fear not.
8เมื่อพวกเขาเงยหน้าขึ้น ก็ไม่เห็นใครนอกจากพระเยซูเพียงพระองค์เดียว
8And they lifting up their eyes saw no one but only Jesus.
9ขณะที่พวกเขากำลังลงจากภูเขา พระเยซูกำชับพวกเขาว่า “อย่าบอกใครถึงสิ่งที่พวกคุณเห็น จนกว่าบุตรมนุษย์จะฟื้นขึ้นจากความตาย”
9And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying: Tell the vision to no man, till the Son of man be risen from the dead.
10สาวกถามพระองค์ว่า “ถ้าอย่างนั้น ทำไมพวกอาลักษณ์จึงพูดว่า เอลียาห์ต้องมาก่อน?”
10And his disciples asked him, saying: Why then do the scribes say that Elias must come first?
11พระเยซูตอบพวกเขาว่า “เอลียาห์มาก่อนจริง และจะฟื้นฟูทุกสิ่ง
11But he answering, said to them: Elias indeed shall come, and restore all things.
12แต่เราบอกพวกคุณว่า เอลียาห์มาแล้ว และพวกเขาจำเขาไม่ได้ แต่ทำกับเขาตามที่ต้องการ เช่นเดียวกัน พวกเขาก็จะทำให้บุตรมนุษย์ทนทุกข์”
12But I say to you, that Elias is already come, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they had a mind. So also the Son of man shall suffer from them.
13แล้วสาวกก็เข้าใจว่า พระองค์กำลังพูดกับพวกเขาถึงยอห์นผู้ทำพิธีบัพติศมา
13Then the disciples understood, that he had spoken to them of John the Baptist.
14เมื่อพวกเขามาถึงฝูงชน ชายคนหนึ่งเข้ามาหาพระองค์ คุกเข่าลง และกล่าวว่า
14And when he was come to the multitude, there came to him a man falling down on his knees before him, saying: Lord, have pity on my son, for he is a lunatic, and suffereth much: for he falleth often into the fire, and often into the water.
15“องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า โปรดเมตตาลูกชายของข้าพเจ้าด้วย เพราะเขาเป็นโรคลมชักและทรมานมาก เขามักตกเข้ากองไฟ และตกลงในน้ำอยู่บ่อย ๆ
15And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
16ข้าพเจ้าพาเขามาหาสาวกของท่าน แต่พวกเขารักษาเขาไม่ได้”
16Then Jesus answered and said: O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
17พระเยซูตอบว่า “คนรุ่นที่ไม่เชื่อและหลงผิด! เราจะต้องอยู่กับพวกคุณอีกนานเท่าไร? เราจะต้องทนพวกคุณอีกนานเท่าไร? พาเด็กมาหาเราที่นี่”
17And Jesus rebuked him, and the devil went out of him, and the child was cured from that hour.
18พระเยซูตำหนิปีศาจ มันก็ออกจากเด็ก และเด็กก็หายตั้งแต่เวลานั้น
18Then came the disciples to Jesus secretly, and said: Why could not we cast him out?
19แล้วสาวกมาหาพระเยซูเป็นการส่วนตัว และถามว่า “ทำไมพวกเราจึงขับมันออกไม่ได้?”
19Jesus said to them: Because of your unbelief. For, amen I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove from hence hither, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.
20พระองค์กล่าวกับพวกเขาว่า “เพราะพวกคุณไม่เชื่อ เราบอกความจริงแก่พวกคุณว่า ถ้าพวกคุณมีความเชื่อเท่าเมล็ดมัสตาร์ดเมล็ดหนึ่ง พวกคุณจะบอกภูเขาลูกนี้ว่า ‘จงย้ายจากที่นี่ไปที่นั่น’ แล้วมันจะย้าย และจะไม่มีสิ่งใดเป็นไปไม่ได้สำหรับพวกคุณ
20But this kind is not cast out but by prayer and fasting.
21แต่วิญญาณชนิดนี้ไม่ออกนอกจากด้วยการอธิษฐานและการอดอาหาร”
21And when they abode together in Galilee, Jesus said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
22ขณะที่พวกเขาอยู่ในแคว้นกาลิลี พระเยซูกล่าวกับพวกเขาว่า “บุตรมนุษย์กำลังจะถูกมอบไว้ในมือของมนุษย์
22And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise again. And they were troubled exceedingly.
23และพวกเขาจะฆ่าบุตรมนุษย์ แล้วในวันที่สาม บุตรมนุษย์จะฟื้นขึ้นมา” พวกเขาเสียใจอย่างยิ่ง
23And when they were come to Capharnaum, they that received the didrachmas, came to Peter and said to him: Doth not your master pay the didrachmas?
24เมื่อพวกเขามาถึงคาเปอรนาอุม คนเก็บเงินดิดรัคมา มาหาเปโตร และถามว่า “อาจารย์ของท่านไม่จ่ายดิดรัคมาหรือ?”
24He said: Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying: What is thy opinion, Simon? The kings of the earth, of whom do they receive tribute or custom? of their own children, or of strangers?
25เขาตอบว่า “จ่าย” เมื่อเปโตรเข้าไปในบ้าน พระเยซูชิงถามเขาก่อนว่า “ซีโมน ท่านคิดอย่างไร? กษัตริย์ของโลกเก็บค่าธรรมเนียมหรือภาษีจากใคร? จากลูกของตน หรือจากคนอื่น?”
25And he said: Of strangers. Jesus said to him: Then the children are free.
26เปโตรตอบพระองค์ว่า “จากคนอื่น” พระเยซูกล่าวกับเขาว่า “ถ้าอย่างนั้น ลูกก็ไม่ต้องจ่าย
26But that we may not scandalize them, go to the sea, and cast in a hook: and that fish which shall first come up, take: and when thou hast opened its mouth, thou shalt find a stater: take that, and give it to them for me and thee.
27แต่เพื่อไม่ให้พวกเขาสะดุดเพราะเรา จงไปที่ทะเล หย่อนเบ็ด แล้วจับปลาตัวแรกที่ขึ้นมา เมื่อเปิดปากมัน ท่านจะพบเหรียญสเตเทอร์ จงเอาเหรียญนั้นไปให้พวกเขา สำหรับเราและท่าน”
