1ต่อไปนี้คือพระบัญชา ข้อกำหนด และกฎเกณฑ์ที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณทรงบัญชาให้ผมสอน เพื่อจะทำตามในแผ่นดินที่กำลังข้ามไปเข้าครอบครอง
1Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it —
2เพื่อพวกคุณจะยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณ รักษาข้อกำหนดและพระบัญชาทั้งหมดของพระองค์ที่ผมกำลังสั่ง ทั้งตัวพวกคุณ ลูกชาย และหลานชาย ตลอดชีวิต เพื่อจะมีอายุยืนยาว
2that thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3เพราะฉะนั้น อิสราเอล จงฟังและระมัดระวังที่จะทำตาม เพื่อจะอยู่ดีมีสุขและทวีจำนวนอย่างมากในแผ่นดินที่อุดมด้วยน้ำนมและน้ำผึ้ง ตามที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของบรรพบุรุษของพวกคุณทรงสัญญาไว้
3Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD, the God of thy fathers, hath promised unto thee — a land flowing with milk and honey.
4อิสราเอล จงฟัง พระยาห์เวห์คือพระเจ้าของเรา พระยาห์เวห์ทรงเป็นหนึ่งเดียว
4HEAR, O ISRAEL: THE LORD OUR GOD, THE LORD IS ONE.
5จงรักพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณด้วยทั้งใจ ทั้งชีวิต และสุดกำลัง
5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6ถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ที่ผมกำลังสั่งในวันนี้ต้องอยู่ในใจ
6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart;
7จงพร่ำสอนถ้อยคำเหล่านี้แก่ลูก ๆ และพูดถึงถ้อยคำเหล่านี้เมื่ออยู่ในบ้าน เมื่อเดินตามทาง เมื่อเข้านอน และเมื่อตื่นขึ้น
7and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8จงผูกถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ไว้ที่มือเป็นเครื่องหมาย และให้เป็นเครื่องคาดหน้าผากระหว่างตา
8And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes.
9จงเขียนไว้ที่วงกบประตูบ้านและที่ประตูเมือง
9And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.
10เมื่อพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณทรงนำเข้าไปในแผ่นดินที่ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษ คืออับราฮัม อิสอัค และยาโคบ ว่าจะประทานให้ เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีเมืองใหญ่และดีซึ่งพวกคุณไม่ได้สร้าง
10And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land which He swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee — great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build,
11มีบ้านเต็มไปด้วยของดีทุกอย่างที่พวกคุณไม่ได้หามาใส่ มีบ่อเก็บน้ำที่ขุดไว้แล้วซึ่งพวกคุณไม่ได้ขุด มีสวนองุ่นและต้นมะกอกที่พวกคุณไม่ได้ปลูก และเมื่อได้กินจนอิ่มแล้ว
11and houses full of all good things, which thou didst not fill, and cisterns hewn out, which thou the didst not hew, vineyards and olive-trees, which thou didst not plant, and thou shalt eat and be satisfied —
12จงระวัง อย่าลืมพระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงพาพวกคุณออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ ที่ซึ่งพวกคุณเป็นทาส
12then beware lest thou forget the LORD, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
13จงยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณ รับใช้พระองค์ และสาบานโดยอ้างพระนามของพระองค์
13Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; and Him shalt thou serve, and by His name shalt thou swear.
14อย่าไปติดตามพระอื่น คือเทพเจ้าของชนชาติที่อยู่รอบ ๆ
14Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples that are round about you;
15เพราะพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณผู้ทรงอยู่ท่ามกลางพวกคุณ เป็นพระเจ้าผู้ทรงหวงแหน เกรงว่าพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณจะทรงกริ้ว และทำลายพวกคุณให้หมดไปจากพื้นโลก
15for a jealous God, even the LORD thy God, is in the midst of thee; lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and He destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
16อย่าทดสอบพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณ เหมือนที่เคยทดสอบพระองค์ที่มัสสาห์
16Ye shall not try the LORD your God, as ye tried Him in Massah.
17จงรักษาพระบัญชา คำพยาน และข้อกำหนดของพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกคุณอย่างเคร่งครัด ตามที่พระองค์ทรงบัญชา
17Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and His testimonies, and His statutes, which He hath commanded thee.
18จงทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องและดีในสายตาของพระยาห์เวห์ เพื่อจะอยู่ดีมีสุข และเข้าไปครอบครองแผ่นดินอันดีที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษ
18And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers,
19และขับไล่ศัตรูทั้งหมดออกไปให้พ้นทาง ตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสไว้
19to thrust out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.
20ในวันข้างหน้า เมื่อลูกชายถามว่า ‘คำพยาน ข้อกำหนด และกฎเกณฑ์ที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเราทรงบัญชาไว้นั้นหมายความว่าอะไร?’
20When thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying: 'What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?
21จงตอบลูกชายว่า ‘เราเคยเป็นทาสของฟาโรห์ในอียิปต์ แต่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงพาเราออกจากอียิปต์ด้วยมืออันทรงพลัง
21then thou shalt say unto thy son: 'We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
22พระยาห์เวห์ทรงทำหมายสำคัญและการอัศจรรย์อันยิ่งใหญ่และน่าสะพรึงกลัวต่ออียิปต์ ต่อฟาโรห์ และต่อราชสำนักทั้งหมดของเขาต่อหน้าต่อตาเรา
22And the LORD showed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his house, before our eyes.
23พระองค์ทรงพาเราออกจากที่นั่น เพื่อจะนำเราเข้ามาและมอบแผ่นดินที่ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษให้เรา
23And He brought us out from thence, that He might bring us in, to give us the land which He swore unto our fathers.
24พระยาห์เวห์ทรงบัญชาให้เราทำตามข้อกำหนดทั้งหมดนี้ และยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเรา เพื่อประโยชน์ของเราเสมอ และเพื่อรักษาชีวิตเราไว้เหมือนที่เป็นอยู่ในวันนี้
24And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
25ถ้าเราระมัดระวังทำตามพระบัญชาทั้งหมดนี้ต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเรา ตามที่พระองค์ทรงบัญชา นั่นก็จะเป็นความชอบธรรมของเรา’
25And it shall be righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before the LORD our God, as He hath commanded us.'
